* Still missing *Malaysian Airlines plane with 239 on board

If this was an event that happened in the 1960's or so I'm sure people would see this event differently and would understand the fact that no more information is known about the planes whereabouts. But in 2014 with GPS, skills of search teams and other vested parties in this issue it seems so perplexing that nothing has really been uncovered.

So, just reading on CNN that it takes up to 4 minutes for a plane at cruising altitude to crash.

You'd think if that was the case, there would have been some sort of signal/radio transmission/beacon etc.

And if the plane blew apart in mid air, you'd expect to find debris strewn around. Well, I would.

Goes without saying that somehting very weird is at play. if air crashes aren't surreal enough, planes just vanishing without a trace are serious head fracks.

If it was aliens that took the plane I'm not sure what they'd gain from it.

If they have the technology to travel billions of miles through outer space to Earth the technology on a Boeing 777 would seem prehistoric to them.

Forget the FBI, this one's for Mulder and Scully.

But Mulder and Scully were part of the FBI.

Censor bypass, that's a banning.

Seriously, though, this has done my head in, too. And I'm an avid watcher of Air Crash Investigations and read up extensively on air accidents. Call it a morbid hobby of mine.

The aliens theory is prehaps rightfully starting to be taken more seriously.

Perhaps the next Hitler was on that plane?

Read your post out loud ffs. This isn't an act of aliens or umpires.

Good article on the Telegraph, quoting some aviation expert:

"He explained that there were a series of similarities in the circumstances of the Air France flight, which crashed into the Atlantic in June 2009.

Both the Air France and the Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared off the radar in the early hours of the morning – a time when all humans are least able to react to challenging situations. Both accidents happened in the cruise section of the flight. Both airlines are highly regarded, and flying modern, well-maintained planes.

And both sets of pilots failed to send distress calls.

"With the Air France case, their plane sent signals to Paris – so they already knew that some of the flight instruments were not working," he said. "Malaysia Airlines might have similar information but not be releasing it.

"It's also worth remembering that it took two days for any Air France wreckage to be found – and two years for the full operation to be completed."

Has there ever been any presumed crashed/missing airliners that have never been found?

I don't believe so. Indeed, there are very few crashes where they haven't been able to nail the exact cause.

Quite alarmingly, and I read it somewhere over the last day or so but have no source, they 'strongly suspect that two crashes (in the 1990s) were the result of pilots diving the plane into the sea/ground.

Don't reckon that happened here though.

I've said this earlier, but the Atlantic is a lot bigger than the South China Sea. Plus they managed to find Air France wreckage in just under 2 days (which is still a very long time in the modern world). But they still haven't found anything with the Malaysia Airlines flight, no debris or anything!

No matter what, I bet there's a mass upgrade of radar in that part of the world.
Radar coverage in that part of the world is fine. Malaysia are close and so are Vietnam, both would have significant RADAR capabilities.

Yeah, I agree. Totally different geographic situations really. The Air France plane did send a signal back to Paris but the airline didn't release that information to the public, I believe.

The absence of absolutely anything is what's so baffling.

you wouldn't think so, the pilot would be detained by other crew if this was the case.
