* Still missing *Malaysian Airlines plane with 239 on board

The aliens theory is unlikely but if no wreckage is ever found what other possible explanations would there be?
I'd sooner believe that terrorists hijacked the plane and flew it at low altitude to an undisclosed location.

Has there ever been any presumed crashed/missing airliners that have never been found?
A few very small plane crashes with a single digit figure of people on-board over remote parts of the world. But nothing the size of this. If it were to never be found, it would become *the* conspiracy of them all.

Although a 727 was stolen from an airport in the early 2000s. They never located the plane and the 1 person believed to be on-board.

Spare a thought for the people who flew from KL to Beijing last night on MH370 in a 777. Same route, same plane type, same flight number.

You'd be shitting bricks for 6 hours.
*Attention all passengers. This is your captain speaking, if you could look out of your windows and keep your eyes peeled for anything, we'd really appreciate it. Thank you*

Radar coverage in that part of the world is fine. Malaysia are close and so are Vietnam, both would have significant RADAR capabilities.

Lessons will be learned, and technology will adapt. Rightly people will ask questions how such little was detected. Its not like its flying over the sahara or the mid atlantic.

I heard they cease the flight no. for good if it crashes.

Typically yes, but since its fate is still "officially" unknown (although everyone knows it's gone), MAS opted to continue their flights, including all 777s and the KL/PEK route.

I'm surprised that there is no signal from the fdr to hone in on.

everyone saying that if it was a terrorist attack it would be claimed by now, correct me if I'm wrong but nobody claimed 9/11

Looks bad for a government to do things like that.

Too dark to confirm possible plane wreckage, officials say

Officials are waiting until daylight in Vietnam to send more aircraft to the site where a navy plane has found fragments thought to belong to the missing Malaysian Airlines aircraft.
Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said it was too dark to be certain the object in waters off southern Vietnam was part of the missing plane, Reuters reports.
It’s important to add that the possible sighting – news of which emerged in the last half an hour – has not yet been confirmed by Kuala Lumpur or Malaysian Airlines.

Anyone else think the Australia media is slow to report on this? I've been keeping a regular eye on the The Age since yesterday and noticed that the articles/pictures/videos they've been posting are consistently hours behind other markets. Only now have they put up that vision of the oil slick...

Most western media playing catch up IMO.

I've suspected wing damage all along so I'm running with this guy's possible educated explanation and when this version of Air Crash Investigations comes out in 2020 he'll be pretty well bang on the money :

"The -so far presumed- crash has nothing to do with terrorism. It simply lacks a motive for this specific target, Flight MH 370. Far more likely in my opinion is a faulty repair of the right wing after the on-the-ground crash 2 years earlier. The repaired / replaced section either blew off in flight completely or partly, resulting in major damage to the hydraulic systems in the wing. The leading edge slats and flaps extended, resulting in asymetric lift on the right side, pretty much like AA 191 in Chicago back in 1979. The lift on the right side induced the change of course from appr. 024 to appr. 333 degrees, a left turn, very consistent with this scenario. The plane entered a spiral nosedive and - unlike AF 447 - did not ditch at a -compared to this scenario low vertical speed (AF 447 was around 100 kts vertically) - but at a much higher vertical speed (maybe exceeding 400 kts), thus leaving pretty much nothing big intact. Also, the impact area would only be what, maybe 150 square meters in total if the plane entered the water in an exact 90 degree angle? Very hard to find, and many pieces would instantly be dragged below the surface by the following vortex. ACARS signals might not have been received, since -so I have read- this particular aircraft would not have sent them via Satlink, but via normal radio and would have been - given the last known position - possibly been beyond reach."
