Tuck should be there in place of Kennedy.

Kennedy is far too slow for AFL and will get exposed against Sydney.

Tuck is able to break the lines and his disposal is far better then that of Kennedy's

I expect Tom Murphy was injured at training and that is the reason he is out of the squad. Surprised Josh is playing instead of Tuck, would be because he is very good 1:1 and a similar player to J Lewis or even B Sewell who is likely to be a late withdrawal. I would not be surprised to see Tuck come in as a late change. With crawf, chance and sewell under injury clouds a late change is likely.

It seems that Sportal has fixed one of the problems - I believe that Murphy is on the bench and Kennedy is an emergency (Sportal still has Boyle as an emergency, even though he's injured).

In: Sewell, Bateman, Taylor, Kennedy

Out: Lewis(inj), Renouf(sus), Clarke, Murphy

Murphy injured, so Boyle takes the spot on the emergency list with Clarke and Tuck.

According to Herald Sun website:

HAWTHORN
B: Brent Guerra, Stephen Gilham, Campbell Brown
HB: Grant Birchall, Trent Croad, Rick Ladson
C: Clinton Young, Sam Mitchell, Jarryd Morton
HF: Michael Osborne, Jarryd Roughead, Shane Crawford
F: Cyril Rioli, Lance Franklin, Mark Williams
Foll: Robert Campbell, Luke Hodge, Brad Sewell
Int: Chance Bateman, Xavier Ellis, Tom Murphy, Simon Taylor
Emg: Tim Clarke, Tim Boyle, Travis Tuck

In: Bateman, Sewell, Taylor
Out: Jordan Lewis (quad), Brent Renouf (suspended), Tim Clarke (omitted)

I think this sounds more correct with Tom Murphy in instead of Kennedy.

Hehe.

The team never changed much in the 80s/early90s.

Whitman would come in if a small was injured and the only other interest was who out of Curran, Morris, Dear, Lawrence or Robram would come in when Derm was out suspended.

The best place to get the team in thise days was on 3CR's David Rhyce-Jones Football Show at about 9pm. (Note R-J was not part of the show).

Perhaps that is the team? I don't expect all three of Crawf, Sewell and Bateman to play so I expect Clarke and perhaps Tuck to play.

So all the optimism of the break helping us get our full squad back has faded some what.

We dont really expect Sewell to play do we?
Crawf still in some doubt too I suspect?
:(

Yeh, not very happy with our injury news after the break.

Lewis- Who knows how many he'll miss. Hopefully back and 100% for STK though.

Sewell- Should be 100% to play STK, a good chance against SYD.

Bateman- A set back maybe? Should be playing this weekend, if doesn't will be very concerned.

Crawford- We all know he is 50-50 every week. Hopefully in 3 weeks time is our only concern we have running into finals.

Dew- What is the go with him? Hamstring is OK? Pfff yeh right, he better be back against STK.

Boyle and McGlynn don't seem to be making much progress with their injuries either, do they?

Despite this week’s big inclusions, Evans believes the side will be in a much stronger position in a few weeks.

“We’ve still got Jordan Lewis, Stuart Dew, Ben McGlynn and Tim Boyle to come back in. And some of the players that are back in haven’t had a lot of games in succession. If we don’t lose players due to injury over the next few weeks we’ll be in a much stronger position in a month.”

We're not in that bad a position as long as we can get most of our players up and running over the next few weeks, as a matter of fact, the injuries now could be a blessing heading towards peaking and freshing up for the finals

Id like to see these play together consistently

Talls: Franklin Roughead Croad Campbell
Mids: Sewell Mitchell Hodge Bateman
Others: Brown Rioli Birchall Osbourne

You can top it off with any 10 of the rest

Yes but injuries now doesn't mean no injuries later in the season...

Of course, but the fact that we've got injuries doesn't nessassarily mean we'll get injuries later in the season.

Point is, having injuries now isn't nessasarily a bad thing with an eye to the finals, it keeps players fresh which is important given the length of the season.

The fact that we've practically assured a top 4 finals birth means that we can be alot more conservative with injuries then we were this time last year
