I'm going to go right out on a limb here....

Henry Playfair.

$107k.

I straining the house down. Looks to be in awesome form by all accounts and is one of Roosy's favourites. Has cash cow written all over him.

If you want an extremely injury prone Gumby who could maintain a 50-60 average, I think he and Gumbleton are the best options. Gumbleton gets my vote due to the name similarity.

I got really burnt last year with injuries (Cox and Hille, Hentschel and Raines) so all through the pre-season period I have been paying attention to who is recovering really well from injuries. There are lots of players being discussed in this thread who are clearly too close to recovering from very serious injuries, and are too injury prone in general to consider, or have actually been injured during pre-season but people haven't player close enough attention to news articles.

Here are some boys I like and some who have fully recovered:

Malceski 274k - I have him and he looks the goods. Interview said poor performance last year was more psychological, so he should be OK this year. That price makes him a lock in my backline.

Kennelly 320k - Had a good rest in the Irish game and he says he feels better then he has for like 4 years.

Harry O'Brien 374k - very overlooked, I am biased the the pies board talk is that he could be AA this year. He really does take them on and does some nice kicking clearances. If the Heath Shaw mid-field rumour is true, as well as Reid and Brown able to be key defenders - look for the big O to do some sweeping off half-back more.

Brent Harvey $499k - 3x 130 games in '09 after the injury. Coaches said he could rest and miss training session during pre-season and he hasn't missed on yet. Better North mids this year will give good support. Dual Positions.

Hodge - Dual Positions. Nuff said really.

Gilbee - Had some dud scores as his father was passing away. Dual position and should improve.

Murphy - All over his injuries and really ripping it up. Should get some nice goal assists with Bazza as a target.

As stated earlier in this thread, I cannot find any value in Forwards cheaper than Dangerfield and Ziebell, so they are my 6 and 7. I have Watts on the bench but that may change with the NAB cup.

I am just wondering about Mark McVeigh - worth the punt or go for a young buck like Sidebottom?

Hey guys, just throwing this one out there, but what about Malceski at $273k? Will he find any form after getting over his knee op??

At his best, $273k is an absolute bargain. Just about the best kick in the comp as far as accuracy goes and in his former role as running back, high posession earner. Could easily be a >$500k player and one of the elite backs before the end of the year. But I don't have him and I will be waiting to see how he goes in the NAB cup. Same applies for Kennelly.

Doubtful, that "revolutionary surgery" looks as though it will end more careers than it will save.

Dunno about that. think malceski's problem was confidence and form more than still having a knee problem. Let's face it, you wouldn't of played him last year at all unless you were 110% he was good to go. especially seeing as the Swans year was effectively written off at about rd 14.

Having not played SuperCoach before - would someone explain "cash cow" to me?

I understand it means that a player's value will increase - but with a salary cap in place how is that of any benefit? If you sell a player do you receive their current value?

correct. Being successful in supercoach is about getting a team full of premiums(there is no cap beyond your initial allowance), adding premiums into your team is often through the downgrade and subsequent upgrade of a pair of cashcows. A pair who started low for eg $94,200 and played several games and are now worth approx $320,000. One gets traded down to a $94,200 player the other goes up to a premium keeper. Rinse and repeat til you have a team of premiums.

gee I'm glad you corrected this bloke.....

Rusling in injury prone
Zeibell is a gun in the making.......top choice for rising star this year:thumbsu:

breaking your leg mid way through your first season is just unlucky.
unless he has a history of breaking legs, or have had other injury issues as well, doesn't really classify as being injury prone.

as a smokey what about Brett Peake?

The Saints like to throw it around and need a finisher, when Freo finished 3rd he averaged 81 and he's priced at 66, his average in wins in the 2nd half of that year was 88 from 10 wins

Code:
R14	W	73
R15	W	67
R16	W	106
R17	W	67
R18	W	49
R19	W	100
R20	W	116
R21	W	96
R22	W	140
SF	W	59

mark Williams? Could rise in value from 300k, considering he has been succesful in the past with the hawks when he was the main target. David Hille? worth a punt? Would he be no. 1 ruckman or ryder still?

A waste of a midfield spot IMO. If he was listed as a defender I would consider him. But there are plenty of better (and cheaper) options to fill midfield spots.

Bit of inside money on Sydney:

1) Roos always plays his new recruits from other clubs over draft picks and doesn't drop them after a string of bad games. He believes, above all else, that he needs to show faith in their ability beyond all other aspects. Only two recruits, that I can remember, haven't made it in the past decade (Spriggs and Chambers).

2) Sydney has a beyond extraordinary record of these guys finishing high up in the B&F in their first year. Schwass, Williams, Ball, Schauble, Hall, Shaw, Bolton, Mattner, Jolly. So really look for Mumford, McGlynn, Seaby and Kennedy playing all games this year and thriving away from the pressure of southern states. Mumford will be our No.1 ruck from all reports.

3) Sumner, along with Dennis-Lane has been marked out by several staff as the most likely to debut first. Really surprising everyone.

4) Malceski has admitted that he'd forgotten to work hard enough after coming back so quickly from the surgery. He looks to have completely turned everything around. If he gets good number in the NAB games, jump on quick as he'll deliver between 95-110 each week.

5) ROK played the first half of last year deeper up forward with very low stats to cover for the injured MOL. Then moved into the midfield and won the B&F. This will be his first full year in the midfield and he looks rejuvenated by the move. He's going to deliver BIG numbers this year.

6) I don't have a lot of faith in Bradshaw staying fit and that means opportunities for Playfair. At 107K, he could be gold. Roos likes him and gave him 18 months to get his body right to get back on the list. Always presents and has good hands. Should get between 50-110 points out of him for each game he plays.

the only problem with that is he will be tagged every week but might be a good upgrade if he has proven he can handle a tag
