This is my first team drawn up this year. I just want to hear everyones thoughts on it. This team will probably be changed alot during the NAB cup but oh well.

BACKS:
Simon Goodwin (Lets hope he gets named in the backs)
Corey Enright
Sam Fisher (Should improve by alot on his 2009 form)
Jason Gram
Rick Ladson (If he can get anywhere near his 2008 form I will be happy)
Josh Hunt (Too cheap to pass up, also he is in Geelongs Best 22)
Bradley Sheppard

MIDFEILD:
Gary Ablett Jr. (Lock as Captian every week)
Bernie Vince
Adam Cooney (Will improve on last year)
Callan Ward
Rhys Palmer (Should have his skills right for this year)
Tom Scully

RUCKS:
Aaron Sandilands
Shane Mumford (Sydney payed too much to let him not play)

FORWARDS:
Matthew Pavlich (Below average 2009, should improve)
Shaun Higgins (Could be a premium next year barring injury)
Brent Harvey (Brownlow Contender, and is also cheap)
Kurt Tippett (Should improve with the quality ball coming in from the midfield)
Patrick Dangerfield (Should be playing more in the midfield next year)
Jack Ziebell (Only concern is how he will come back from a fractured leg)
Ben Cunnington (Should slot in nicely with the north melbourne midfield)

EMERGENCIES:
Phil Davis
Matt Maguire

Dustin Martin
Anthony Morabito

Robbie Warnock
Matthew Lobbe

Jack Trengrove
Robbie Tarrant

Not bad overall, only things that may concern me is Gram is a better dreamteamer and sc so be wary large possesion games doesnt mean he'll score super high.

Swap Mumford for Tippett. Yes Mumford will play but wont score enough for a keeper where Tippett has the potential to.

Get another mid-priced forward in place of tippett, maybe sidebottom?

Good reserve midfielders but maybe too much money on the pine?

I may be able to get Hodge for Gram. Hopefully.

I agree about Tippett but my concern is if he will be named in the ruck. If he is then i will surely get him there but until i am sure i will keep him in my forward line

EDIT: I was thinking of spending alot on the midfield bench in hope that i will find the next Daniel Rich. Out of the 3 midfield rookies i was hoping at least one plays every week.

Just a few observations:

As deledio_gun pointed out Mumford probably isn't the best option as a second ruck, if you have the cash i'd definatly jump on Tippett in the ruck, even Kruezer could score quite well depending on how he's played. (EDIT: sorry just saw your last reply)

I think there might be better value around the 450-500k mark than Brent Harvey, I probably wouldn't be taking someone of his age, but then again his price is quite tempting. Robbie Gray or Mark Le Cras could be decent options.

Ben Cunnington is on crutches and could face two to four weeks off. I'd keep an eye on him.

Its either Kruezer or Tippett, but as i said before im not sure if tippett will be named in the ruck.

I prefer Harvey did you see his scores after his injury? They make his price look cheap.

Ben Cunnington is on crutches and could face two to four weeks off. I'd keep an eye on him.

I will leave him there until i find someone else i can put in there. Any opinions?. I dont like any other Draft picks from last year. I might go with Watts. He has bulked up quite a bit and will get game time.

Goodwin will turn 34 this year and he is almost certain to begin to decline. For the price there will be better options around.

Jason Gram is not a good option for Super Coach. He has shit disposal and is a better DT player.

Will Rick Ladson's body hold up?

Palmer - See Gram.

Mumford - You'll be able to find a better option than him.

I forgot how old Goodwin is...

Palmer got a discount and im just counting on him to return to where he was, maybe even better.

Gram i have taken out..

Lets hope Ladson's body holds up, you must take risks to win supercoach.

Mumford is also out of my updated squad.

Updated Squad..
This one probably wont change until supercoach comes back online..but then again i have said that to myself about 100 times. Feedback is appreciated.

BACKS
Corey Enright
Shannon Hurn (Will keep on improving)
Sam Fisher
Luke Hodge (Will defenately improve on his 2009 average)
Rick Ladson
Josh Hunt
Bradley Sheppard

MIDFIELD
Gary Ablett Jr
Bryce Gibbs
Bernie Vince
Callan Ward
Rhys Palmer
Tom Scully

RUCKS
Aaron Sandilands
Kurt Tippett (I am hoping him to be named as a ruckman)

FORWARDS
Adam Goodes (Will continue to get great SC scores)
Matthew Pavlich
Shaun Higgins
Patrick Dangerfield
Jack Ziebell
Jack Trengrove
Ben Cunnington

EMERGENCIES
Phil Davis
Matt Maguire

Dustin Martin
Anthony Morabito

Robbie Warnock
Matthew Lobbe

EDIT: Trent Dennis-Lane (Mature age draft pick, Swans have NO forward line)
Robbie Tarrant

Dont mind the look of that. Forwards may be a little risky though. Starting 2 rookies and Zeibell coming back from injury not to mention Higgins run with injuries in the past. Could leave you very short if rookies dont play or you cop injury.

Good team, and a number of those I am considering at the moment.

However, let me play devil's advocate as food for thought (comments below in bold):

Updated Squad..

BACKS
Corey Enright
Shannon Hurn (Will keep on improving) will the forward taggers come his way ala H Shaw and S Fisher?
Sam Fisher will Gilbert continue to take away his scoring potential?
Luke Hodge (Will defenately improve on his 2009 average) will the injuries continue in '10?
Rick Ladson
Josh Hunt
Bradley Sheppard

MIDFIELD
Gary Ablett Jr
Bryce Gibbs will he get tagged in the first 3 rounds with no Judd? seems to finish a season much stronger than he starts
Bernie Vince
Callan Ward
Rhys Palmer do the clangers and inefficieny worry you?
Tom Scully will his body be right to go come rd 1?

RUCKS
Aaron Sandilands
Kurt Tippett (I am hoping him to be named as a ruckman) i'm with u there's just no way he can be named as a ruckman. very up and down with his scores.

FORWARDS
Adam Goodes (Will continue to get great SC scores) is he a better trade in option? look at his starts the last few years
Matthew Pavlich do u want a player that falls over at the crucial time of the year (ie SC finals). Freo won't make the finals so there is every chance he will be rested at that time of the year again.
Shaun Higgins susceptible to OP
Patrick Dangerfield
Jack Ziebell
Jack Trengrove
Ben Cunnington

EMERGENCIES
Phil Davis

Anthony Morabito

Robbie Warnock
Matthew Lobbe

Most of your team is ok IMO but you are sure to make more changes by the time the NAB cup is up and running.

Good to at least have some sort of template at the moment though, I don't even have that. LOL!

I'll probably pick Ablett first then Cox or Sandilands as my first ruck and build my team around them, sees pretty good logic to me. ROFL! :D

I feel your team needs another gun/premium midfielder in there from the start.

I'd also be wary about spending that sort of money on Ziebell because 1 - coming back from such a serious injury and 2 - he is still close to a rookie player yet you'll pay 3 x the rookie price. I am not sold on 2nd year players because of this uncertainty.

pretty solid loking team to me. ill gone a lot more risks though. one thing to consider is swapping out 1 or some of your expensive rookies for cheaper options to free up money, luke shuey is good price and should get a lot of games if fit. there's others like him around to, just gotta hunt them out

Guys I'm mad keen to get into Supercoach this year but dont know where to get in. Anyone provide me with a link???
Cheers

its not a bad team, but extremely risky forward line. Way i see it is make the fwd line good because mids can be made good easier with more consistent players to choose from out there. 2 premiums and the rest are rookies and injury prone players its not a good fwd line and wont score consistent. Backline Mids and Ruck good though.

Long time Lurker, first time Poster...

I made two draft teams... one with GAZ and one without... then I thought 'don't be stupid' and dumped the team without him.

BACKS
Enright (or Newman?)
Fisher (better pull his finger out)
Hodge
Gilbee (better not have any other ill family members)
Ladson
Hunt
Sheppard (just going with the crowd on this one)

Emergencies: 94K & 94K (haven't got much idea at the moment)

MIDS
Ablett
Gibbs
Pendlebury
Cooney
Palmer
D. Martin (or whoever looks best of the 1st rounders)

Emergencies: Bastinac & Tapscott

RUCK
Sandilands
Hille (I've got a bad feeling he will be injured or just plain average)

Emergencies: Lobbe & Trengrove (lets hope Brogan finds his first love and quits to play basketball)

FORWARDS
Delido
Pavlich (or perhaps J.Brown?)
Frankiln (c'mon poser)
Harvey (old man better come good)
Murphy
Dangerfield
J. Trengrove (or perhaps Watts?.. feels strange to have so many Demon options)

Emergencies: Davis & Dennis-Lane

I'm most worried about Hille (didn't look good before got injured in 09) and Murphy (seems to be after a new job as a journalist).

My first try at a SC team ever;) Going to try mid-price strategy this year. Something different.

B: Fisher, Hodge, McPhee, Suban, Ladson, Kennelly, Hunt (Sheppard, Davis)
C: Ablett, Vince, Armitage, Ward, Swift, Palmer (Trengove, Martin)
R: Tippett, Kreuzer (Lobbe, Roughead)
F: Deledio, Higgins, Franklin, Gray, Rioli, Dangerfield, Ziebell (Cunnington, Tapscott)

Bold = keepers
Underlined = potential keepers

145k left over
I'd be looking to have about 16 or 17 keepers if everything goes to plan.

i like your team although midfield is rather light but guessing that will be the main upgrade area later on in the season

So far i've drafted up two teams but no doubt my final team will look different to these with some exposed pre-season form.

Team 1 ($88k remaining)

Backs: L.Hodge, J. Adcock, L.Gilbee, P.Ryder, L.Hansen, R.Ladson, T.Kennelly (J.Hunt, B.Sheppard)

Mids: G.Ablett, A.Cooney, B.Vince, P.Dangerfield, T.Scully, D.Martin (A.Morabito, L.Tapscott)

Rucks: J.Brennan, K.Tippett (D.Hille, M.Lobbe)

Forwards: J.Brown, S.Higgins, L.Franklin, C.Rioli, J.Ziebell, B.Warren, J.Trengove (B.Cunnington, P.Davis)

Team 2 (11k remaining)

Backs: S.Hurn, L.Hodge, J. Adcock, L.Gilbee, P.Ryder, L.Hansen, T.Kennelly (B.Sheppard, J.Trengove (Pt.A))

Mids: G.Ablett, A.Cooney, B.Vince, B.Harvey, M.McVeigh, D.Martin (A.Morabito, L.Shuey)

Rucks: J.Brennan, K.Tippett (R.Warnock, M.Lobbe)

Forwards: S.Higgins, L.Franklin, C.Knights, P.Dangerfield, J.Ziebell, B.Warren, J.Trengove (R.Bastinac, L.Tapscott)

Couple of interesting selections I know.

I think Lauchie Hansen could have a break out year. He started last season well playing at CHB before a hamstring injury. Afterwards he returned to play in the forward line which didn't work out too well. I'm hoping he returns to his CHB role this year. Having a pretty strong preseason by all reports as well.

Ben Warren is also having a pretty strong preseason and seems to have fully recovered from injury. He will cement his spot in our best 22 this year and improve significantly on last year. Basically he will be used as a trade up player and he's dirt cheap.

So which would you say is the better team?

Here's mine, although it's likely to change numerous times before lockout:

Backs: Shaw, Hodge, Macdonald, Ellis, Ladson, Kennelly, Hunt; Davis, Hardingham.
Centres: Ablett, Pendles, Vince, Cooney, Scully, Martin; Bastinac, Barlow.
Rucks: Clark, Ryder; Lobbe, Cordy.
Forwards: ROK, Sylvia, Higgins, Porpoise, Rioli, Franklin, Trengove; Gumby, Podsiadly.

20k left over.

Looking more some more improvement from most of my forwards, the midfield is pretty loaded apart from the rookies. The backline has depth, although some trading up will be required at some point. Rucks locked and loaded.

For what it's worth this is my first draft:

Goodard Hodge Gilbee

Lockyer Hunt Maguire

J Smith $94,000

Ablett Cooney Ball

Sewell McLean Scully

94,000 94,000

Cox Warnock

West Cordy

Riewolt Franklin Pavilich

Chapman Medhurst S Johnson

Gumbleton R Tarrant P Davis

Any comments welcome.

Decent team with a few nice differentiators, e.g. Warnock.

I too like Mclean and Ball (Ball maybe not as much Mclean) and think they will fire up in 2010. I'm still not sure that even if they do fire up that they will kick the ball enough to get strong points. They are not fast enough to link up in many plays. Maybe risk it on one of them.

Think it might be beter to rejig your backline to only have one of Mcguire or Smith starting on the field. Having two will probably mean some weeks where you get two doses of 40s from those two meaning over 22 rounds it will suck.

Warnock a very decent risk proposition. Nice pick - of course, we'll all be watching him in the pre-season.

Medhurst, Johnson and Gumby all have injury woes...2 of them have unproven scoring issues (Med/Gumby). Med 1 good season out of 6+. Would rejig and ensure you remove one for a more certain scorer to lessen the risk at least...probably Medhurst. Stevie J is a watch based on his hip injury.

All bench players are a watch at this stage.

I share your concerns re: Ball [He does play for the FILTH]
but I assume he will get more time on ground this year and am looking to
upgrade him or McLean to Judd at round 5,6 or 7 depending how he starts the year.

I don't Know exact prices yet, so hoping I will be able to swap one or two for
Goodes/O'keefe/Brown.

Thanks for the input.
