Swans 2008 Roller Coaster ride....where will it end?

haha its like...people thing we got a top 4 spot by accident

Don't say that... we have played some ordinary opposition. Our real test would be this weekend against the Hawks.

Collingwood beat us, but we don't adapt well to them, and never really have.

If we beat Hawthorn, I will feel we belong in the top 4. As will most others. Season defining games perhaps.

yea but we consider "ordinary" anyone under 5th spot
so its not that bad right??
sooo...only WB, Coll, Geel and Hawks are challenging

NEWSFLASH.....Sydney are above Collingwood on the ladder.

So what?

Hawthorn may be slightly worried about the Swans (though i don't know why, Hawks are a decent team and the Swans are average.)

Cats, Dogs and Pies would all love to play the Swans in the finals, it would be the same as a week off.

I would say anybody outside the 8 actually.
Geelong beat us in the last ten minutes. The Bulldogs we beat in stats, and would have if not for their freakish kicking that day. Collingwood, we lost to our bogey side, we always do. And North was a draw.

This weekend will be our first real test as to where we are placed this year.

Except the most important stat of all.

It will end several positions above where most BF 'experts' predicted .....Somewhere in the top 6.

I sincerely apologise to all the people that were hoping the swans 'ageing list' would drop out of the 8 and into the bottom 4 but unfortunately all the off-field dramas and distractions in the world aint gonna make it happen. We probably won't win the flag but at least we won't be watching September from the sidelines either.

If this is our 'rebuilding phase' then I'm really looking forward to the next few seasons. :thumbsu:

All that, and still sitting a game and a half clear in the top 4.
Very few clubs could acheive that with a "aging list".

Really,so this year your pretty happy with so far? Lets see;

Wins

Port, Bris, Eagles, Essendon, Port, Richmond, Eagles (less than a kick), Saints, Melbourne

Mmmmmmm not one top five team:rolleyes:

Losses

Saints, Western Bulldogs, Geelong, Collingwood

Mmmmmmmmmm thats three top five teams

And a draw against the Kangaroos playing with 19 men.
So the top eight sides you'v beaten are Brisbane and Saint Kilda.

And you haven't played Adelaide or Hawthorn yet (not your fault but still a factor).

Based on the season to date IMO the Swans have no reason to be confident they will even win a final in Sept never mind making the last game in September. When you actual win a game against any top five team then your credentials in 2008 will deserve to start improving.

You will find most Swans supporters agreeing with you.

What exactly is the point of this thread anyway?

The swans were expected to finish well below west coast by most of the bf experts and yet even with all our "off field dramas", we're still light years ahead of them.

Jealousies a curse obeanie.

I think you've answered your own question.... The point of this thread is so that all the W.C. trolls can feel better about their own team. Unfortunately the likes of Del Piero, Dusky and Obeanie can longer have circle jerks over their 'dynasty' or how they could field a competative side of players all under 25. Now all they can do is make irrelevant references to the '06 GF and sit by hoping and praying that our club implodes like theirs did.

If I was jealous of the Swans I think I'd know it.

You and others who think this thread is a troll are a tad sensitive IMO, whats wrong with pointing out that the Swans have had a interesting year in the media, they are still in the top 4 and kudos to them.

Yes, there are some aspects about Sydney I don't like, but I do have alot of respect for other areas, eg;

I don't like their defensive flooding game plan, I think Goodes was a protected player, I think Roos painting them as a blue collar playing group with limited skill compared to others is a load of bull, I openly admit I don't think much of Barry Hall and I think some Swans supporters on here are extremely one eyed.

I do like and respect the Bloods Culture and the comraderie the players display on the field, I respect the success they have had and the hard work put into that success. When the Eagles play the Swans I love to win as they are worthy opponents who we respect, thats different to say Carlton v Collingwood who despise each other.

So toughen up boys, remember;

"if it doesn't kill you it makes you into as stronger man" :D

Where will it end ?

Reasonable chance it can end in a flag this year thanks.

Why do u ask ?...do u want it to look like its all downhill for some reason ?[/quote]

No, but a balanced opinion of how your travelling and your chances for the flag would be a nice change:D

I rate the Swans 5th at this stage of the season, no brainer what the order is;

  1. Geelong
  2. Hawthorn
  3. Collingwood
  4. Bulldogs
  5. Swans
If you guy's win this year it would be a much bigger achievement than 2005, Geelong and Hawthorn ATM are much better / balanced sides than the Eagles were, Geelong is just about the perfect team IMO.

I dont understand..surely u jest :thumbsu:

More than any other bunch of fans we tend to offer a balanced level headed view in here :D

We dont shuck our welk like others...and despite the continual amateurish trolling attempts and wishful thinking about us sinking we tend to stay fairly level headed and modest about our chances...right ?:)

Its not as though we have been like those 1pt dynasty guys is it ? :thumbsu:

I've noticed u trying particularly hard lately to bag Sydney...i sincerely hope thats not bitterness welling up inside.
