Can’t help but think Lobb would have helped tonight. I know that’s easy to say in hindsight but he is usually good for a goal and is a better ruck atm than Darcy

Probably would've got more out of a full Lobb game but not sure you can predict Darcy getting hurt and playing 30% of game time. Thought Darcy competed well in the ruck when he was on but they didn't have a recognised ruck so he shouldn't have had any issues.

We lost to a bottom 6 team, inexcusable for a side supposedly pushing for a top 4 spot. The amount of times the ball was turned over, kicked to the wrong player in the wrong position or butchered paints the picture. The game was there for the taking and we let it slip from our grasp.
Not excusing our completely shit game plan and game play, there is no excuse for even giving them a sniff at this game.

But throwing the umpires calls on top (Buddy grabbing Gardner and Bud gets the free kick??????) did not help one bit.

Has anyone actually enjoyed watching this team in the last 18 months

Have barely watched them since half way through the third quarter of the 2021 GF. Been a happier person as a result. The current regime has ruined my love of the team and the sport in general because I can’t stand watching other teams make the game look as simple as it is while we make the easy look impossible. Simply cannot go on like this or we’ll waste this list and find ourselves on the bottom again.

Look at our spread of goals compared to other teams . Outside of Bont our mids just don’t kick enough goals .

Melts always come in close loss but it's a dodgy loss due to umpiring in a game we were underdogs in anyway and structurally having two talls injured gave us a disadvantage and one fewer rotation.

The fixture opens up here, we have very winnable games to finish and the destiny is in our hands.

I would love your optimism.

But Sydney are not a good team. They have no discernible KPD, a poor ruck division and are missing a few fairly decent players. Yet after getting three goals up at quarter time we just bent over for them.

I am fed up watching this team fold whenever there is any pressure from a half decent team. Our coach is terrible and he absolutely has to go, but even then that team should’ve won tonight but our senior players shat the bed when the game was on the line.

I have trust in maybe 2-3 players in the side to make a decent decision in the fourth quarter of a tight game and execute it to a passable standard. And despite my love for our captain unfortunately he doesn’t make that cut right now.

We’re a coaching and footy department refresh from challenging for flags for the next few years. We’re also a non-decision away from languishing in purgatory for the next 5-10 years and wasting a promising list.

This off season is the most critical one the club has had in a decade.

Now that we know its another bottom of the 8 finish at best, time to call the season and play some youth.

play the guys with higher ceilings.

Gardner missed 3 or 4 key spoils when in prime position, just not good enough unfortunately.

Treloar has his worst 2 disposal weeks in his career, consecutively, in 2 winnable games.

no point playing Duryea,

i liked VDMs game, and west was ok, JOD showed something, Garcia lively but lacks skill and composure, worth persisting though

Agree on that, but if you want to believe that bad umpiring lost us the game then I will disagree but accept that as your opinion.

Treloar and macrae especially have dropped off massively

Treloar looked cooked tonight

Macrae has dropped off a cliff
Treloar can be dropped for all I care he can go turn it over in the VFL.
Macca is being seriously played out of position, he should be in every center bounce.

We have a non-competitive game plan. We are wasting the talent we have. Bevo has us playing a slow, risk-averse, easy-to-defend game plan.
We do play a shit brand of slow and safe crab like brand of football thats true.

Its also true that we play a shit brand of slow and safe crab like brand of football because we don't have the players who can be relied on to do anything else.

The coach may well be garbage and past his used by date. But it just flies in the face of reality not to accept that there is an overwhelming part of the list that is sub-par for a side with premiership aspirations.

People need to get their head out of their arses and accept the fact that this list isn't nearly as good as its supposed to be.

Reckon you blokes are in the same boat as us. Stuck with a premiership coach living off the fumes of past glory. Missing the eight could be a blessing in disguise to accelerate necessary change.

At least your club is still in with a sniff of pinching a flag. Ours clearly isnt

Our board and president literally rub one out to pictures of Bevo every single night, Bevo could run this club into the ground and win 5 wooden spoons in a row and they'd offer him another 10 year contract.

Our entire football department needs a clean out, and if our board isn't upto it I'm half in the mind to do a 2016 Richmond and get enough signatures together to force change.

I think we need to accept. That whilst we do have stacks of talent on the list. The media, and us fans overate us to much. A grade midfield that runs up the stats, but cannot stop runs of goals vs Cats, Port, Pies, Swans. We lack defensive structure and our ball use going forward is poor. We keep turning it over at crucial points way to often. Or defence made a 40 year old buddy whose main strength these days is calling for a free kick anytime someone breaths near him, look like he was back in his prime.

We lost to a bottom six team, missing a ruck, half their defence, and we could not capitalize at all. Sorry, but that is just really bad.

What is with our fast starts, then letting teams run over us in second or third quarters all the time? I know we talk about coaching. But something is not right in our players heads, to suddenly forget how to play football just like that. We go from looking on song, good movement, dominant midfield display, and a functioning forward line. To all of those things vanishing with the flick of a switch. Maybe we are the softest team in the league mentally.

As of third quarter, they had like 20 something tackles inside their forward 50, and we had like 8.
That's what I've been saying in the bevo thread that the list compared to 2021 is not as good as it was then. Bruce, Dunks, Hunter, Duryea, Keath, Wood all over a hill or left and they haven't been able to fill the void. The team needs a proper turnover this year and bring in some decent players.
