AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Sounds good, but I don't reckon that they do...I've often wondered if on game day, clubs have at least one staff member assigned to listening in to all the broadcasts of the game just in case the commentators say something the staff down on the ground are overlooking. Could be a match-winning point of difference in a close one.
So, on Sunday, with 3:55 on the clock, BT: "James Bartel, Swans are seven points down, just under 4 minutes to go, what have they got to do?"
Bartel: "Mix things up a bit. Try something different. Put Aliir up in the forward line."
1:53 on the clock: Defender Aliir kicks his first-ever AFL goal, to win the match.
For that matter, if they want some suggestions of the bleedin' obvious which they always fail to implement, they could just read our contributions on here.Sounds good, but I don't reckon that they do...
Jones was VERY impressive on Sunday. Maybe we only need one runner out of HB.Does Gazza actually get back into this team? Never know why he wasnt left in the back half like zac jones.
Richmond in a very good spot atmThis puts things into more perspective the point i was making quite lucky to follow such a high standard club.

When you take into account Kennedy really only played the first quarter, deduct his age and experience and it makes it even more impressive! This puts things into more perspective the point i was making quite lucky to follow such a high standard club.

I agree. Hadn’t heard him before. Is he usually on Fox? I don’t have cable.I have to give credit to James Brayshaw. He was excellent at just calling the game in a non-bias manner and even criticised two absolute gift frees to Ben Brown. Was kind of refreshing considering some commentators (Dunstall, Bruce, Brereton etc) barrack even when their own team isn’t involved

I cannot stand listening to Dunstall commentate Swans games. Whines about every Swans free kick with a bigfooty level knowledge of the rules.. Was kind of refreshing considering some commentators (Dunstall, Bruce, Brereton etc) barrack even when their own team isn’t involved
Yes he was very even handed and considering he (anywhere else I've seen him) comes across as an absolute knob, he's probably currently one of my favourite commentators.I have to give credit to James Brayshaw. Very good call. I was dreading it before the game, but he was great - got genuinely excited at some of the Swans' passages of play.I have to give credit to James Brayshaw. I'm a fan of BT. Despite his nonsense (which is often rather funny), he has a keen eye for what's going on in the match and has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the players (and the backrooms of almost every club too!).Mostly, I only can't stand Bruce and BT. Everyone else is pretty mediocre with a one or two who are great (and I can never remember who they are until I hear them again, lol!). I don't generally find that any of them barrack particularly, I just think they talk too much, and give their opinion too much rather than concentrate on calling the game.
Yes, it was incredibly cringe-worthy imo. Imagine their families sitting at home... oh yeah, we're definitely intergrated now, they must treat everyone like this...Very good call. I was dreading it before the game, but he was great - got genuinely excited at some of the Swans' passages of play.

Was anyone else embarrassed though by how much they went on about the Aliir/Daw matchup? It made me cringe - not only was it over-the-top, the only adjective they ever seemed to use was "athletic". Like how they always call Aboriginal players "magic". It was definitely worth mentioning, but not the orgasmic carry-on that came every time the ball went even remotely close to them.
Yeah, it was quite condescending really.Yes, it was incredibly cringe-worthy imo. Imagine their families sitting at home... oh yeah, we're definitely intergrated now, they must treat everyone like this...
Exactly!Yeah, it was quite condescending really.
We have some ridiculous talent 22 and under on our list. It's quite remarkable considering our lack of early picks and level of cap pressure with the contracts of Franklin, Tippet and removal of cola. Even more remarkable when you compare our young talent to many of the sides who've consistently finished in the bottom 8.Im not sure if we can win it this year but we are building something special with this list if you looked just at the forward line there was Franklin surrounded by Ronke, Hayward, Papley, McCartin and Heeney.
Did you see the Collingwood poster on the What I Liked, Learned and Hated thread on the MB who described Roaming Brian as the bastard love-child of David Attenborough and Alan Funt? (Of course you’d have to be old enough to remember Candid Camera but I thought that description was a hoot!)I'm a fan of BT.
