Evidenced by the fact that the ball was next to our goal square when the final siren went... with Nason getting shoved in the back & should have got the free to give us a win by 10.

Agree... a TW schooled Richmond would have had us bleeding the clock for the last 2-3 minutes with a turnover & goal highly likely.

Positive attitude rules!

Yep. And we all know how TW's icing of the clock against the Dogs when we were 4 goals up went don't we?

I used to stick up for tambling but he just doesn't do anything. He's so gifted yet so shit, he couldn't even hit a ****ing target with a handball which cost us a goal. He did one good thing at the end of the game and that was it.

Not saying he didn't have a bad game, but that handball came after he was put under pressure by a Thursfield handball; Thursfield didn't have any free options (or he just couldn't make a decision) so he handballed it to Bling who had bugger all room so had to handball over his opponent (albeit a bad handball but given after he had received it under pressure).

Tackling, tackling and more good tackling. We out-tackled the Swans, who'd have thought? The only issue I had coming in to this game was the long break we were coming off. Ten minutes into the game, I knew we were on. Our tackling is as good as I can ever remember it. In the past, teams have always been able to break our tackles too easily, not so now.

I disagree.
I liked how when we got in front, we actually tried to score another goal. That's how you ice the game.
Had we have tried to contain them and played the final 2 mins in their forward 50m, it would have resulted in an inevitable goal to them.
I loved how we kept trying to run the ball forward and score the goal that would have put us 10 points up.
Fair point Tugga, we all hate to see those turnovers when trying to maintain possession, so I get where you’re coming from.

I guess I’m coming from the point of view that all of the REALLY good sides know how to get men free to wind the clock down, so we should be able to do it too. When they can't do it, they kick long to the boundary.

In the scheme of things, the result of Sunday didn’t matter that much, so it’s not a big deal that we took those riskier options, but imagine if that was a final? Would you really want the players risking a turnover with a kick to the corridor, or would you rather see them go long down the line if they can’t spot someone up?

On the icing the clock issue. We were so close to stuffing it up. I just watched the replay.

Kel Moore kicks to Tambling on the wing with 44 seconds to go. A loopy 30 metre kick with 2 Sydney players bearing down on him. Tambling luckily takes the mark when the players are about 1 metre from him. Meanwhile, Goodes is standing by himself just inside the 50, would of been game over.

So basically Tambling won the game for us. :thumbsu:

I was sitting right in front of it. Thursfield has Goodes covered, but it would have been a one on one contest and it could have been ugly. But it wasn't.

Yeah this has been realy harsh on the bling. So he didnt have a great game but he still got 15 or so times and his tackling and defensive pressure was where it needed to be.

His tackling has improved out of sight and any coach at any level will tell his player "if its not your day, just get out there and make an imapct some other way"

i think richie did that

I remember one moment in that quarter where (and my memory may be vague/inaccurate/biased) he slid into a pack of at least 3-4 sydney players, collected the ball and managed to feed it out to one of our midfielders.. it eventually led to a goal and was absolutely incredible.

His attack on the ball is becoming a highlight. Combined with his evasion skills and attacking mindset, he is maturing into everything many of hoped he could all those long, frustrating years. He might even be better than I dared to hope.

Watching the replay, the number of Richmond players that I wouldn't expect to go in HARD for the ball repeatedly that did was impressive. The attack on the ball in the last quarter was seriously scary.

Collins not long before he got knocked out put his body on the line at a contest and really hurt the Sydney player. For a bloke with a body that isn't fully developed going in that hard already is a great sign! Hardwick must make ever player think he can run through brick walls!
