Funny thing is even back in the seventies class concepts such as media bias were examined age 11 and up
But now kids aren’t mature enough for those concepts?
Mind you we were also told banks were on our side
You can’t discuss examples if you can’t see themHow is access to social media and a class on media bias at all the same thing?
You can’t discuss examples if you can’t see them
Fair enough. But they did seem to judge us capable of those concepts back then. Mind you my parents were working at 13-14. That’s ten years younger than some graduates entering the workforce now.Still vastly different things. Being mature enough to discuss something in a controlled school environment versus being mature enough for independent access to Social Media.

We travelled alone younger too. And there were nutters like ‘the moors murderers’ at large then reportedly Ivan Milats family were up to no good already in the seventies.
I have no doubt that younger teenagers could discuss the negatives of social media comfortably at that age, which is very different from being exposed / immersed in it directly.
agree, but where is the evidence they aren’t mature enough? Some of our govts are thinking they are mature enough to be locked up at 13.
The Impact of Social Media on Teen Mental Health
Social media's impact on teen mental health is concerning. Parents can help by setting boundaries, encouraging offline activities, and fostering open communication.www.psychologytoday.com
Teens are spending nearly 5 hours daily on social media. Here are the mental health outcomes
Forty-one percent of teens with the highest social media use rate their overall mental health as poor or very poor.www.apa.org

It’s probably the amount of time I spend on this damn thing. I get the issues, but that is the world they will inherit.
It's true, but finding a balance between unfettered access and prohibition is probably necessary. Better parental education and supervision would likely be far more beneficial than the 'ban them!' approach. Giving them the opportunity to get through those formative years when you're more subject to the negative repercussions of social media without the life experience to balance it out.
I’m thinking the govt will compromise at platforms doing a much better job of implementing their current minimum age. 13 isn’t it in a lot of cases?
I’ve never protested in my life but this makes me want to. This is a huge turning point for australia.

Nah. He has been quite successful over the last 20 years.
1984.Mis information bill and ID online… i wonder where this is going.
You seemed pretty happy with the crackdown on protesters during covid. Guess it's not just the right and centrists who wave through anti-protest laws. It's a shame all the right wingers and 'centrists' happily waved through all those anti-protest laws over the past 20 years.
Good luck with your protest.

I was happy to watch cops fight with cookers. I think we both agree that it made for entertaining viewing.
I didn't vote for a government that gave cops more power to crack down on protests.
This has been explained to you multiple times. Do you have problems with your memory?
