Nah, as his footy career has been bereft of success I think he just wants to take the soft option and jump in bed with a club that's a chance of picking up a flag.
Harsh call AP>He played in a senior O&M flag, many finals, played interleague, captained the club, played over 300 games-bereft of success?Put your name on here Albert and match up your career.Have heard though from a board member last night that they arent overly happy with him at the moment as he told them the only reason he was training with mitta was time in regards to the muster that has just been completed. They were saying they would hate him at 38 or 39 to finish his career being dropped to the reserves and obviously now he will be coming from a long way back.Maybe he just cant quite cut his ties to the club.Like him or not; he has served it so well.

Slow down Switch. I will clarify. My bereft of success call was relating to the reason we all play - team success. 300+ games 1 flag (and I wouldn't say "many finals"). Granted, he has had a successful career re individual achievement, but I believe that most of the reason he is going to Mitta is to try an add another premiership medallion.

Ive heard a few bits and pieces from a few clubs as of late.

Joel Barker is the other one that went with Steve Bradshaw to Barny from Dederang. Apparently, they are fairly confident of sneaking into the top 3 due to the signings of 6 or 7 that they are confident will boost them up the table.

Also, heard that Dederang re-signed Billy Dixon from Nth Albury. He played for them in 2005 and i think he finished 2nd in the leagues b & f. Also, Glenn Page is definately going to be playing on. They have picked up 3 or 4 but mainly will offset the player losses that they have had, so they should be around the same level as last season.

Although not everyone was wrapped about Darren Mathey coaching out there at Tallangatta, he has got some numbers to the club, so the depth should be good. I think it was said that one was his A/C from last season. That was Matt Jones, but he is on the way to Mitta, after he apparently was taking on the A/C role again up at Federals. Ive seen most of the names on the transfer list for Tallangatta in action and those ones so far from Federals will play seniors.

Over the past 12 years Raiders have played in seven finals series - premiers once(!998), runners up once (1997), third four times (95,99,01,03) and fourth in 1996.

Conway was at the club all these years and I would say that this equates to many finals.

Not game to put your head on the block AP so we can compare your career with Conways?

Be suprised if Barny thought they could finish top 3,finished 7th last year and have lost Anderson,Nixon,Shevlin and Parish wont play because of work injury also Laracy to Bushies.Looks like not much will change if Dederang cover there losses,Mitta will stay the same then and Yack and Chiltern will be strong.Maybe only Rutherglens spot will be up for grabs.Surely Kiewa with their signings would be an improver

Good drop of rain around, let's hope it falls on all the local leagues grounds this weekend. Does anyone know of any practice matches coming up?

Heard that Wodonga Raiders are likley to sign Darren Elliott - big loss for Dederang if true.

Big loss! Clackas if you've heard right then I'd go as far as saying Dederang will struggle to make the five. Elliott is an integeral cog for the Bombers, one of the leagues genuine stars up forward or back.

Why don't you put yours up against Karl Jacka's ?? As this quote from you below shows, apparently it's alright for you to question players abilities/records & it's not OK for me to. Hypocrite.

Tron your ********ing joking.Jacka was a reserves player in the O&M nothing more would have been lucky to play a handful of games if any at all.He is a long way from a gun,a flanker;pocket player in the hume league definitely doesnt translate to even a starter in the cmfl.

Mate as i stated your comment in taking the soft option etc differs from the facts i stated about Jacka. As i said i think he wouldnt have played many if any O&M games and he did in fact play predominately flanks etc.in the hume league. The Central Murray is a fair step up from the Hume League and although i'm no longer playing i'd have Karl covered, you have picked a fair bit bigger fish with Conway.

Why dont you just pull the strides down and have a show of sizes boys.

I agree with you S.T.P. As far as playing records go I think Conway's would stand up against the majority.
Saw Jacka play a few years back in the HFL, he might of had a bad day but he was far from being a gun, a regular in the 2s in the O+M.

Having said that i'd still be interested to see the comparison of playing records S.T.P.

We have got off the original point made by AP - that Conway was contemplating the move to Mitta in a bid to play in a premiership based on the fact that his career has been bereft of team success.

I think we can all agree that Conway has not been bereft of team successes with something like 21 finals appearances with Wodonga Raiders including a premiership in 1998.

There is no doubt that Conway's O&M days are over, and had Raiders been stronger in recent years - maybe Conway would have been on the move earlier. If he chooses to play with Mitta (which I understand he will do) - I agree that he will do so to play in a more successful side - not because he has been starved of team success but because the alternative would be to play for Thurgoona (down the road from the Kinross) and chase arse all year.

Whether this would be the best business decision for Conway given the proximity of Thurgoona to the Kinross is debatable.

i don't know why there is even a debate on this, mr magoo can see why he is going to mitta. but is everyone aware that he is going in for hand surgery to repair 2 busted knuckles plus he hasn't trained yet. I don't think he s going to be the fantastic pick up everyone thinks he is. But it's easy to play well when your in a good team.

Elliott to Raiders is a done deal - has been training for the past month and signed last night.

Do you think he will still have an impact at O&M level?

I can hear Tallangatta League coaches celebrating.
I think he will stiull have an impact, particularly at a club struggling for experience, like Raiders. Maybe not as a key defender anymore, but a bloke who can pick up the oppositions 3rd tall forward and maybe use his experience to get off him a bit and create. Dederang must be really bleeding. Is something wrong out there, or is it just a combination of circumstance & opportunity that has seen 5 or 6 of their top 8 leave the club ??

Thats a bit of a shock that he has left Dederang. People around the club would be devastated. Something must be definately going on behind the scenes, as Dasher loved it out there and was expected to finish up out at Dederang.

Unlikely to see Dederang making the top 5 now. In Fourarce, Ohlin, Elliott, Bradshaw they have lost a big part of their spine there. And without any notable recruits apart from Dicketts, makes it hard to see them being a finals contender.

In and Under. My sources at Lavington and Barnawartha they tell me you have erred badly when naming yourself.

Rumours have been confirmed, with clearance applications lodged for Leigh Cameron, Ryan Richardson & Travis Knight to go to Kiewa. That would be costing them a fair quid and if you believe rumours, Cameron has signed his third contract in the last 3 months !!

Arceri, what are you on mate? A bit more detail when you say I erred badly in naming myself cobber! For starters, I don't have a clue what you are talking about or what you mean. The other bit about your sources at Lavi & Barny really amuses me. I have absolutely no connection with Lavi whatsoever and never have, never will. I do however know a couple of blokes who play with Barny and most TDFL clubs.
Arceri EXPLAIN YOURSELF!

I dont think he signs his name, he bought himself a stamp. Saves time.
