Be caferful where you throw stones....

MM is very keen to get Gardiner....

If he pulls that one off and Gardiner returns to his best, MM will be seen as a saviour, a messiah.

If Gardiner does SFA, MM will going down with the ship as well.
I would love to get Gardiner to Collingwood. I doubt MM is as keen as you think though. Gardiner doesn't fit the MM profile and I reckon he under rates rucks anyway. Someone like Eddie or others in the football department might be keen on Gardiner and I hope they have a serious crack. You'd have to be wary of his injuries though and that has to affect his trade price but at the end of the day you won't get many opportunities to pick up a ruckman of his ability and there would be other lined up to take the punt on him. It's a bit of a hiding to nothing if his knees are shot but I am not against clubs taking risks if they get the medicals and pay the right price.

I'd love to do a deal for Gardiner and Waters. Pick 5, 21 & Lockyer and someone else?

Actually the facts are that the dogs scored the second most this year only 4 goals behind stkilda. And to think of the ordinary footy we served up in the first half.
2nd highest score and no finals is a worrying stat if you ask me.

You're a true champ buddy, execpt for the last sentence.... :)

At least you can have a decent pro / con discussion on Gardiner, rather than resorting to the mindless c rap that goes on, kind of like with Tarrant, Fev & Whitnall.

No one at Collingwood is worth Deliedo!!

So your saying you won't do a direct swap for Williams. Heck we'll even throw in Billy 'the next Johnothon Brown' Morrison as a sweetner. How could you refuse 2 obvious gun players who would absolutely dominate. :D

Full forwards who don't kick goals and get paid squillions for it aren't that good to have on your list.

Since when is Tarrant considered a full forward. Ideally hes a winger or best used on a HFF. He only played there due to lack of other options at FF.

What would you want given you have Cox and a loaded midfield? Pick 5 might get you a Fevola (I know you said you didn't want him) or Whitnal and change. It could also get you Clarke in the draft who I understand you are keen on. I've heard unsubstantiated reports of WCE and Freo being after 5 for that very reason.

Basically I think WCE run a risk of doing what Collingwood did. They went close with obvious deficiencies and if they don’t address them they won’t disappear. The writing has to be on the wall for Lynch and perhaps 1 or 2 who played in the GF. Hunter and Hanson are worth persisting with but that’s about it as far as tall forward prospects go and Matera can’t go on forever. Maybe Seaby can make it as a forward and maybe not.

I'd be more than happy for the Crows to pick up a Tarrant or a Gardiner to slot in the forward line. With the right support and a full pre-season training, either of these guys would be invaluable. Tarrant needs a change of scene quickly for his benefit and his trade value would still be extremely high.

Completely agree with all of the above, our defeciencies specifically.

Matera - he represents all that is wrong with our Fwd line as the "go to" man... Kick it to Phil on the Boundary line, on a lead & expect him to take a contested mark amongst a ruckman. Don't get me started on that. I've had my say on the Eagles Board all day on the thread, "Matera's Bad Body Language Post GF".

Re your trade option: I'd love to do a deal for Gardiner and Waters. Pick 5, 21 & Lockyer and someone else?

The sticking point is Waters. We don't know how good he's going to be. Talent's a dirty word, but this kid could be anything. I don't need to c rap on about him, the fact you've mentioned him, means you must have knowledge on him.

He’s a prospect but OP and a loaded midfield will make it difficult for him to make any real inroads in 2006. He suits our needs and he’s surplus for WCE to the extent anyone with talent can be surplus. There are only so many players you can fit into a midfield and it stops making any real improvement. When you have a deficiency though, a single player can make a big difference. The only way I can see WCE, with late picks, getting what they need if trading a midfielder and no one will pay the ask for Judd, Kerr or Cousins, if they’ve even leave anyway. Waters is the right age. Still ha s a bit to prove yet.

I think you'll find they also the 3rd highest conceding team in the league.

May have abit more to do with their style of gameplay....

We're talking forwards, not backs. I know our backline leaks like an old dingy.

You don't think it has anything to do with game play??

When you play abit more attacking as western bulldogs do, you're bound to score more, and you're also bound to concede more in the meantime.
