In the best timeline Gold Coast is orange and GWS is sky blue. Both clubs would then have unique colour branding that would also work way better against their local rivals.
That’s a good point actually. Sky Blue for GWS would contrast better against the Red of Sydney. Gold Coast colours are very similar to Brisbane’s which I could never understand.

I agree for GWS, but I think the Suns colours were perfect but they just needed to lean in to the whole Lifesaver aspect of it which they failed to do so.

Orange is perfect is GWS, vibrate multicultural demographic (eg Harmony Day branding) + orange sunset in the West

Worth mentioning this, one thing that bugs me is how the SA state team has made a subtle shift to the Crows’ navy rather than royal. Hoping if Tassie went with that shade the state team wouldn’t follow. Hence why I’m on team lime green.

The SA State team wore navy and yellow chevrons before State of Origin. Adopted Royal blue for state of origin and have since returned to navy after the demise of State of Origin.

I love so many of these designs, but if you're making the background green, you'll really need to ensure it doesn't blend into the playing field too much. They would look great if the grass could be dyed sky blue or orange though!

I don't think this will be a problem. Ireland, Nigeria, Celtic, Green Bay Packers, etc have all made it work. I do like Scorch's idea of green and white though.

Fair enough could make a case for them using either sky blue or orange. For what it's worth I love the orange but it was definitely used to get some of the Wests Tigers fanbase on board.

Finally got around to finishing my Tasmania concept. Same as before, based off the state representative guernsey from ~1910 (attached below). Was tossing up between using either the map of Tasmania or the Tassie Devils logo as the crest but eventually decided on the map. In the same way that Brisbane went back to the original Fitzroy Lion, it just feels more Tasmanian to me and I think it will age a lot better.

I plan to make a red/green colour scheme variant of these kits as I think there is a fair point to be made about it looking similar to Adelaide, and personally I think red/green is criminally underused in sport leagues around the world. But that'll come later on.

The orange and charcoal used by the Giants is supposed to represent a Western Sydney sunset over the Blue Mountains. I actually never knew this until last year. I feel Greater Western Sydney could have explained this better as it gives a better meaning to their colours than just some random choice. I also agree the Gold Coast's use of red and yellow is fine but should absolutely be used in a better design.

If that was the case surely they would have gone with navy rather than charcoal?

You are a power fan. Anything crows related annoys you.
History says you're not correct, the colours were navy before being changed to royal AFTER the crows came in.

Port are welcome to use the 1930s Guernsey as their next Guernsey change of identity.

First point is not true, when it comes to aesthetics and uniforms I try to remove my biases as much as possible, an example is the Crows having my favourite Indigenous jumper of 2016. I’ve also often been positive of the Crows’ brand. Given the club’s roots are based in Port’s initial AFL bid, their identity is spot on for a composite team representing the whole SANFL, even down to including at least one colour from each club except Port.

Happy to stand corrected on SA using navy for a long time before switching to royal, but if we look at the link you posted, there’s some key takeaways.

1. At the time the Crows joined the AFL, SA were wearing royal blue, and had been for 11 years, so the point of difference was established for a decent bit of time, about a fifth of their navy era.
2. SA continued to wear royal up until 2006, before switching in 2008 to navy. The Crows had been navy for 18 years at that point and SA had been royal for 29 years.

Obviously being a Port fan I get the whole embracing the heritage thing, but the SA state team by that point was no longer a top level team, they were just a rep side for what had become a second tier league, as well as a state underage rep side. Don’t know what you’re getting at regarding 1930 but it’s whatever.

My take is navy blue had historically been the colour so seems like a non-issue.

Tongue-in-cheek suggestion Port should use 1930s teal state guernsey following stealing the state guernsey template.

Nope. As you can see the Mountain's appear charcoal.
It's actually a very clever use of choice of colours to represent a region. In this case Greater Western Sydney IF it is explained properly. I'm sure many fans have no idea of the explanation as I wasn't aware until last year. I wonder how many GWS fans actually know the reasoning behind their colour choice 🤔 2b0ade84e3afce7e35acf29cc8c6192c.jpg

Adelaide v Port shitfighting aside - is the 10s/20s SA rep guernseys where Port got the idea for teal from?
It sure does look like the same shade of teal (below, Mero's artist impression of the 1908 guernsey) but I think in Port's case, the Teal is meant to represent the waters of the Port River, flowing through the suburb

What app or site are you guys using to design these? Want to have a look at it myself.
Just speaking for myself but I use Affinity Designer (which is essentially Photoshop) on my PC however it isn't free. There a number of free online Photoshop-type programs you can find or alternatively some people even use Paint to great effect. Can't wait to see what you come up with

Photopea is a free online Photoshop-esque platform, once you have used it once it also stays in your browser thanks to Java (so if your internet turned off you could still be using it, etc).
