Lol...got to love a thread where we are looking at scenarios. I have NFI BUT I am allowed to hypothesise likely and unlikely outcomes. The GWS mod come to our board and smarted off about how you guys can redraft Adams. I guess it depends how bad you want him if he nominates.

In this unlikely scenario GWS get nothing for him if we take him at 6 or 10. That's if we rate him that high. If GWS redraft that's pick two gone.

I believe a straight swap will happen!

I apologise for my post being too long for Pete or Andre the giant, whatever name he uses, to understand.

I don't care if the trade happens at 1.55pm Friday. IMO GWS will have to make a straight swap to facilitate this.

But why do I know? Lol

Can somebody post the Hine quote.
This is what I posted in another thread:
Not quotes - just my paraphrasing after listening.
Hiney just on SEN:
Said we prefer building through the draft for the most part.
Expects to get something done on Shaw/Adams sooner rather than later.
Hopes to get something worked out with Lions on Karnezis when they have a chance to speak again.
Chuckled at the question posed as to whether they might be chasing number 1 pick.
Said 'never say never' a couple of times...
Oh, and if he was in charge, restricted free agents would attract compo, unrestricted FA's wouldn't, and there would be just one week for FA's and one week for trading.

I'm pretty sure they all know where they stand on it and what each side wants/expects out of the deal.
From the sounds of things it's all going okay as it is and looks like it'll be done without too much drama but that's the nature of negotiating there's a bit of too-ing and fro-ing to be done.
I'd be very surprised if ultimatums were one of our regular bargaining tools really.
Know your opponent. Gubby knows Collingwood. We should know Gubby. He's waiting for us to fold. It isn't the ultimatum that is important but the message that we have options (even if we don't).

GWS will take Boyd and know they could get a bucket load for him next year even if he doesn't play more than a handful of games. He's early pick plus a player currency at worst for a few years at least.

Would be even more reason not to force a deadline then if he knows us and our tactics so well. Paint yourself into a corner with a deadline and you put even more pressure to get it done by then. I doubt Gubby is going to be bluffed by that.
I trust that we've got enough professionalism to nut out a deal when it's obviously pretty close to a straight swap type deal from the start, as I said it's just the usual to I go and fro ing that happens.

I doubt Hine said he thought it was going to be okay unless they were pretty confident it was going to get done.

Maybe Emma Quayle needs to have a word with GWS.

That won't make sense unless you read her article. It is on this forum somewhere. I will bump it.

GWS was offering #1 for experience when they thought they had Buddy. We would have been building a Shaw+picks deal for #1. We also would have entertained an Adams = pick deal either separately or part of the Shaw deal. I don't think we would have used both 10, 11 + late for this but no one knows.
No Buddy means they have to use #1 on Boyd. #9 was not suited to use as we already had 10+11. IMO they chased #2 to on trade as they were before (for experience) but have also upgraded Adams for overs. We get #6 which makes a Shaw+#6 for #2+Adams closer.
Not saying this is the deal, but given what we know of the draft there appears at least 8 outstanding picks to choose from so GWS is still getting great quality at 1+6. Look at Daisy (2) v Pendles (5) for example - we know who gets more Brownlow pts.
For those that think swap Heater=Adams (which I disagree) the argument is that we would have to give something more to acquire #2. No 2nd, 3rd round picks left. Certainly not 10 as too much overs. We need #102, #121 to upgrade rookies (Dwyer, Martin?) so only #67, #85 are free to trade.
I would hope #67 goes for Karnesis - I'm up here in Brisbane and he is worth it as Lions might get nothing if he goes to the draft. That leaves #85 which is laughable as GWS have #75,76.
Would we put up a player? Don't think we have anything that a) we would release that b) Giants would want. They want experience not more list cloggers.
Unlike Quayle, I rate Heater ALOT better than Adams. Premiership AA worth $700k to GWS and immediate benefit in their leaky back line >> Adams in second year+potential. Every third Bio I read has future leadership in it so thats not an upgrade. Hence my thoughts are GWS will not lose much going #2 to #6 when they upgrade Adams for the experience of Shaw which is what they were after before the trade window opened.

"Myself and Steve (Silvagni, GWS list manager), we're in constant dialogue, the thing is during this period aside from the fact it seems to be going on forever and a day, GWS have a lot of things going on and we do as well.
"Both players have committed to the relevant clubs. Now it's just a matter of both parties coming together and (deciding) what's the best way to facilitate the trade.
"I'm sure a deal will get sorted out.
"They're really good to deal with and I'd like to think we're pretty consistent as well. We'll be fine."

I'm thinking GWS will accept Shaw + 67 and then use 67 to trade for Lamb. Sydney getting reemed again, but they really don't have a choice.

Some would say the swans have been roasted

The point is, they haven't been our tactics in the past. Gubby will be banking on the fact we can't keep Shaw so if it goes to the wire we will fold. We need to counter that perception.

Was anyone listening to what Scott Lucas had to say this morning on SEN and was anything he said worth noting?

I had to goto my Neurological lecture and missed it. Dam Steve Hooker putting him on late!

Yeah like we folded re Luke Ball.

As Hine said, there are other things going on that we are not aware of.

From what I can gather GWS are trying to swap picks 21-22 for pick 14, they will then want our pick 10 and Shaw for Adams and pick 14.

From what I can gather GWS are trying to bend us over a table and inset their tiny you know what into our you know what.

Just don't think Hine likes it that way.
