AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
We had a strong hand with Ball given the cap space and hi agrees salary nomination. We have alienated Shaw. Totally different situation.
I made a pretty simple point about negotiation stength. Gubby likes to play a strong bluff hand. It worked for us when he was on our side and against us when he was on Brisbane's (Mal Michael). As I said, know your opponent. It wasn't a criticism of us - no need to put your cheerleading hat on again.
Would rather picks 6 and 10 than just pick 2
I was more thinking its as simple as. Its straight swap or its nothing. If all of us (majority) can see 6 and 10 is better than 2. Hine wil aswell. Adams is going to be a good player no doubt but its not the end of the world of we miss. I see it as a straightswap or we keep shaw. Either way were happy.I'm not debating what we would or rather not have.
I'm just saying, this seemed like a pretty straight forward trade that seems to be dragging on longer than it should.
We have no more picks within the Top 50 (outside Top 10) to trade for and GWS wouldn't want them. So where does that leave us? Straight swap or involving both sides Top 10 picks.
"Can't" wasn't meant to be literal. Lots of things are posible but not all are practicle. IMO Shaw and Collingwood have too fractured a relationship for it to work and they now have to part ways. Just my opinion on where things are. History also says we don't keep people that want to go. I haven't always agreed with that but I can't recall a player who wanted out that we made stay. While other clubs have succesfully redeemed situations that either the club or player tried to end I can't actually recall any club/player relationship that has got to this stage and been ressurected. You said earlier that Shae can't stay. But the fact is he can. We may not want him to stay, and he may not want to stay, but if there is no agreement done by 3pm Friday, he will stay.
I agree it will get done. Hopefully on our quite reasonable terms. whether it is a positive deal for Collingwodo remains tio be seen. I am not sold on Adams as a fit for our needs but more importantly what plays out internally this coming season decides everything. trading Shaw is much more than a list management decision it is a clear cultural and philisophical direction. That was clear even before Edide's Copeland speech. It is all academic anyway - this deal will get done, it will almost certainly be a straight swap or an addition of something of very low value from our end. And it will be a positive deal for Collingwood and a great way to finish a very strong off-season (part 1). And then we can look forward to the next 47 threads being about draft prospects and approaches...

Then we pass. Adams was pick 13. We'll just keep Shaw and go in with high picks meh
Although Derek Hine is adamant a straight swap will be done in the Shaw/Adams trade, word out of Etihad is that Collingwood have also thrown in their pick 67.
Okay, so this if from the AFL Draft, Trade, Free Agency, List and General News Facebook page, which is terribly unreliable so I wouldn't read to much into it but:

I'm thinking GWS will accept Shaw + 67 and then use 67 to trade for Lamb. Sydney getting reemed again, but they really don't have a choice.
could it come down to something like US paying some of shaws contract (if we have space) ?
tell adams to go in the pre season draft, put an enormous front ended loaded contract on his head
ie 1.3 million over 3 years, 800,000 in his first year 250,000 in the next 2 years
take 14 ( if they get that pick )for shaw
pick 6 bontempelli/kk ( whoever is available )
pick 10 acres/freeman (whoever is available)
pick 14 harvey/salem (whoever is available )
white
adams in preseason draft
dont mess with the bull GWS., u will get the horns
Can somebody post the Hine quote.
Yup this! Couldn't agree more.
GWS haven't been in the system long enough but tell em to go speak to St.Kilda if they think we won't do it! We have the spare money in cap that had to be spent on someone. If I'm coll I give them 24hrs to do the straight swap or we trade Heater to Geel for pick 14 (I know that sux) or even to st.kilda for 2x 2nd picks then we get Adams for nothing in preseason draft!!
Do it Pies!!

Can you put a ban on people posting quotes from that Facebook page please? It's getting very frustrating. The quotes are in the title and somewhere in this thread.
The audio is available on the CFC website and AFL Trade Website.
Scotty Lucas was on radio yesterday (Adams manager) he said that if they get the feeling no deal will be done they will go to other clubs with interest namely Geelong amoung others. They have only 3 days left as it is.
Hine said yesterday that a deal would be done with GWS though.
Interestingly when asked if after Adams deal would we done and dusted for trade period hine said we would be targeting a few others in the 20-21 yr old bracket. Wonder who he was meaning!

under the previso that GWS get pick 14
GWS had their chance to be fair about it

No way would he get to you in the psd
We may have missed out on Adams. GWS have done some deal with Essendon. Adams was mentioned
And if that doesn't work we can go for Scully or Palmer.Well Then I guess we will chase Bugg Then
Cranberry juice.whats essendon gonna offer them paddy ryder they got no picks the gws want. So that means no Shaw for GWS
