Adams for Shaw?

Makes me sad seeing Shaw in another guernsey. Even thought I support the clubs decision. Just doesn't look right. He can only blame himself.

Well they arnt serious about giving up pick 1. No one in their right mind would trade a proven champion for a kid who is the most talented in his age group. Crazy and totally unrealistic.

In horse racing terms its like trading your proven weight for age star for a 3yr old who is racing against his own age group.

Yep.

Only slightly conceivable way is if the team thought they had sufficient depth to cover the loss of the star.

Taking the emotion out of it, the Bulldogs or even us would trade griffin/pendles if it could be guaranteed the next kpf as dominant for example as J Brown was circa BL premierships.

That guarantee doesn't exist. Even if it did it will be 3-5 years down the track by which time all the list management team would be burnt at the stake.

Dogs should do it, they've been screaming for a gun tall forward for years.

Would take balls but should do it.

Watching Shaw in another jersey is actually pretty sad more sad than Dale Thomas playing for Carlton. I never cared for him much but I love Heath Shaw and the amount of heart he played for us with. I wish Shaw all the best at GWS if he ends up there. You're a champ Heath!!
Yeah, some of the brain fades were really frustrating, but wearing his heart on his sleeve is just how he is, and he never just went through the motions.

The sadder of the two departures (barring some sort of reconciliation) for mine, too. Thomas lost me a bit today when he said he didn't harbour ill will toward us (why should he have, he was not a wronged party in this at any stage) and wished us well (except when playing Carlton) before the deal was even across the line). Irked me, don't know why.

I have not listened to his interview & have no intention of doing so.
He is gone & I will never waste another second of my time (after this post) reading or listening to anything about him. He is an ungrateful, disloyal & selfish individual, may Carlton never beat Collingwood whilst he is there. Footy Gods - make it so.

GWS may be more willing to part with Boyd than people think. If they still rate Patton highly internally, they may honestly feel Boyd is surplus to their needs. He would be another project player on a list of project players, only 2 years behind the rest. They may realise that they cannot keep Boyd, Cameron and Patton together forever anyway. And GWS is hardly lacking in other key position talent too.

And while we have a bit of currency, it is vital we at least have a decent crack at Boyd. Adams is a decent player, but Boyd could take us to another level. I posted a somewhat workable trade in another thread: picks 9, 10 and Josh Bruce to the Saints; Pick 3, Heath Shaw and Sam Fisher to GWS; and Boyd to us.

I agree mate, to me Thomas seems like the biggest weasel now.

Given Boyd is the best thing since slice bread I highly doubt they will be passing on him and with them not landing Lance I would say it will be confirmed the selection. They will be taking Boyd, pen that in. (Unfortunately)
fortunately for us Lance has done us a favour on the flip side. GWS are now offering Shaw the deal of a life time which they wouldn't have been able to do. We should get our man Adams now.

Lose Shaw to a club who isn't a premiership threat is a big bonus.
Getting a young gun mid is a bonus.
Getting a fwd who could dominate the comp for the next decade is a massive bonus.

Scott lucas just said on SEN that collingwood AND geelong are his preferences and he thinks pick 10-16 would be stephen silvagnis preference. He also said heath shaw being used would make it easier to get done. Sounds like we have a much better currency at the trade table. Heres hoping we are his number 1 preference but sounds like hes happy either way.

Just a matter of who can satisfy GWS first I guess. We have pick 10. Im assuming geelong have pick 16. Sounds like itll cost a club their first pick. Very vague valuation haha but assuming Adams doesnt care we should be in the box seat and we should land him

Did you think that trade through because St Kilda make out like bandits!!

Sam Fisher and pick 3 for two top 10 picks plus a very promising KPD is way overs IMO. Sam Fisher will be lucky to be in the game two years from now with the off field issues he has.

The only way that works for me is if St Kilda throw Seb Ross or someone of his ilk to GWS. Which would be highly unlikely.

So its out of Geelong and Collingwood

Shaw i think would be mad to knock that money back his won a flag now enjoy the big bucks

I actually think he would be really good for their kids

Seems to me a remarkably specific valuation. He's happy to go to either us or Geelong, and his manager thinks that our first rounder or Geelong's first rounder would get the job done.

Having said that, it appears GWS would prefer Shaw to either of those selections, which is why all is remaining quiet on the (greater) western front for now.

Im surprised gws would take 16. Considering they used pick 12? On adams two years ago. Hes clearly shown alot to suggest hes going to make a very good 200+ game footballer. Pick 16 doesnt garuantee that return. Nor will It get a high level mature aged footballer. Atleast pick 10 gives you evens.

I feel if we offer heath shaw or pick 10/11 unless geelong part with a player of their own aswell as 16 Adams should be wearing the black and white next year. Im confident of that.

Heath receives a Giant pitch
In-demand Magpie Heath Shaw could head to Greater Western Sydney having been offered a mega-deal by the League's youngest club.

News Limited
reports the Giants have put forward a $4 million, five-year contract for the rebounding half-back, putting them in the box seat to secure the premiership star.

It is also suggested the Giants have discussed a possible coaching role for Shaw when his career is finished.

As well as the first pick in the NAB AFL Draft, the Giants hold picks nine and 19, while the Magpies are chasing young GWS midfielder Taylor Adams, which could form part of a deal if Shaw departs.

Adams' manager Scott Lucas confirmed Collingwood and agree long as his client's preferred destinations.

"It's the ability of those teams to get a deal done to satisfy GWS in many ways, but certainly those are the two that are really of a strong interest to him," Lucas told SEN.

"He (Adams) was pick at pick 13 two years ago, has played 31 games...I think it's somewhere around that mark in that 10-17 [draft pick range]. I'm sure that's what SOS (GWS list manager Stephen Silvagni) would like.

"If Collingwood become the No.1 preferred option and Heath Shaw is keen to go to GWS, that does make it easier to get a deal done."

Sounds like this could be a Goer. It's all up to Heater. Heater take the GWS Deal as it's the Best For You and Us
