Great to hear, Dave86.

For what it was worth, you were one who was against trading Shaw.... Assuming it is him that we send up for Adams, have you come around yet?

I was against it when I thought this was all just a game to get him to shape up and scare him into fixing his behaviour.

However, when it became clear that both club and player were keen to part ways, my opinion obviously changed.

I would love to keep Shaw, but I don't think it's an option anymore.

Therefore, my absolute preference would be to send him to GWS for 2 reasons:

1. We keep pick 10 & 11 and get our man in Taylor Adams

2. We aren't sending him to a contender so it shouldn't bite us in the a$$ too much too soon.

I was initially against losing Shaw and Daisy because I am one who still believes we are in a premiership window. However, it has become clearer that our premiership window will not re-open when there are core players on our list who aren't on board 100%. That has a rippling effect when it is players of seniority like Shaw.

To come out of trade period with Adams and Pick 11 is a fair return and we are well set for the future.

I'm excited because I really rate Adams.

Trading Shaw for him is clearly our best case scenario.

In essence, Shaw is a pick 15-18, whilst Adams is probably 10-15. (He was a pick 13 and definitely has not done his value any harm over the last 2 years).

So, we are in fact getting good value here. GWS get value as well considering they get the senior player with leadership that they crave.

Shaw is not injury prone so GWS get at LEAST 4 years out of Shaw if not more given the playing history of the Shaw family.

From the two "questionable accounts", but still, both are saying it;

Scott Burns and Taylor Adams in one day, is it xmas?:D

Paige said it best. Need More Info 1st then just Facebook or Twitter

True, but I think his value is still between 15-18. We might get 9 off GWS if they really really want him.

On the other hand I think Adams is worth a pick between 10-15.

So if we facilitate a trade of Shaw for Adams then we are in front I would say.

Hopefully we can get a little more clarification around the recent tweets. Would love to know a bit more detail - firstly - obviously confirmation of whether he has nominated us, secondly whether any deal has been struck and if so whether it involves Heater. This would be the ideal outcome for us as we still have those great picks to use in the draft. As many posters have pointed out, having 10, 11 successively is a real plus. Would be a shame to lose one of them. Also, I wish GWS would tell us who they are keen on for pick 9 so we know whether to fret about that or not with our selections. That should be part of the deal, a kiss and tell clause, also, hope the Saints don't lose Dal Santo cause I don't want our picks to fall any lower. That's pretty much what's floating around in my head right now.

I highly doubt Dal Santo would be deemed first band, thus giving Saints an extra pick after their first. Will most likely affect our second round pick, but from reports we don't plan on using it to draft anyone anyway.

Right. Is there anyone else likely to peel off or be traded who could bump us down? Sewell, Montagna etc. You'd think most of these older guys would be band 2 material. I guess the thing about Buddy netting just pick 20ish for Hawthorn means they can't really give a round one pick for most other players without looking foolish now.

Yeah, it's highly unlikely there'll be any FA moves that will bump our picks down the order. Although the Commission does have the power to step in and decide additional compensation for any FA moves that the standard compensation does not apply to. One would think that Buddy's ridiculously large offer would justify this but as it stands Hawks should just receive one pick after their first round pick which would be Pick 19 I believe.

I would class him as injury prone.....only because we and any team that has him on their list must expect that he'll miss between 3-5 games each year either through injury, general soreness or discipline reasons. We know he has back related hamstring issues, he hasn't played a full season since 2007 so whilst not injury prone in the context of the wording, no difference in my mind.

Did you think that trade through because St Kilda make out like bandits!!

Sam Fisher and pick 3 for two top 10 picks plus a very promising KPD is way overs IMO. Sam Fisher will be lucky to be in the game two years from now with the off field issues he has.

The only way that works for me is if St Kilda throw Seb Ross or someone of his ilk to GWS. Which would be highly unlikely.

Giants really want Fisher for some reason, and Bruce and the Saints are keen on each other. Bruce could up his price and go through the PSD, forcing GWS to pay way more for a player that doesn't want to be there than they could realistically afford. So would be smarter to get something for him instead.

On the Saints side, this draft is extremely top heavy. They may get good players at 9-10, but they would be giving up a legit gun by losing pick 3. That shouldn't be underestimated. I am sure they could tack on another aging player to sweeten the pot too.

But this is just a fantasy world where teams have some balls, and don't go the safe route. GWS will select Boyd, and in a few years time they will lose him, Cameron or Patton back to a Melbourne club for less than the pick 3 could net them now.

i honestly don't know why i have that afl trade and free agency fb page liked, it posts the same shit about adams every 30 mins...im already sick of the guy

Really, I can have a Samuel Adams every 30 mins easily.

if you read his twitter it's confusing why he is so definite. he clarifies we are just in the box set and it's his educated reading of the situation. hardly confirmation.

We will Find Out. He sounds like he has Good Source of that Information

He's "chosen us" about as much as Jesse White has, which means if we can't figure out the right deal he still won't be ours.

Adams would be just as happy to go to Geelong but knows that in Shaw and pick 10 or 11 we have more to trade to GWS and he wants to do right by them.

I really wouldn't expect a result until Heath Shaw decides where he wants to go, which could be a long while away yet.

A few good games to watch are the Bombers game against GWS and then our game against GWS the week after.

He has 28 and 23 disposals respectively. Shows an ability to go win his own ball, good hands in close, and hit his targets. Strong tackler...and he also flew the flag for his club against the Bombers when they tried getting physical.

A real lot to like. If you are watching GWS games, just look out for the number 11.

He is a 10 year inside midfielder with leadership ability. Worth every cent I reckon.

I think he'll really show his true colours in a more mature midfield with bigger bodies around him.

Exactly
