It wasn’t a great days work from him and it was bad timing with Lipinski inching closer. I think he knows he’s under the pump and is trying to do too much. He can definitely add something as the season progresses, but I’m starting to get O’Bree/ Lockyer in 2010 vibes from him.
I felt Today that he held onto the ball a bit too long- didn’t give his first option and put himself under pressure.

He is still in the 23. Although there were no tackles today, he could be a tackling machine and at worst would make a for a very aggressive sub.

Composure has never been Adams’ forté. He works at a frenetic pace. As a half forward, that can be a roll of the dice. He is not going to see all the options and pick the best one, like Pendles or Nick Daicos generally will.

My issue is when he doesn’t work within this limitation and ignores the obvious hand pass options to do it all himself.

Ginnivan adds more as a forward than Adams is doing at the moment. I think Carmichael might also push Adams out soon.
Jack still gets exposed when fleet footed defenders are running off and he tries to apply pressure from behind. He looks like a slowish secondary school kid busting a boiler and falling further behind. I love the lad but his lack of pace is a deficiency. Luckily, he has a great footy brain and only needs a few touches near goal to cause damage.

I agree, Ginnivan doesn’t have a lot of pace but I think his strengths of being a smart player, accurate kick for goal and hits the scoreboard compliments our forward line better with McCreery and Hill giving the speed and pressure. I doubt there would be much of a difference in speed between Ginnivan and Adams

Adams is a lot quicker than Jack.

I believe Fly is very loyal when it comes to his players and I think it would take a dramatic drop in form over a long period before a heart and soul player like Adams would be dropped.

I mean, we're gonna be completely screwed if none of our young mids can get a game until Mitchell/Pendles/Sidebottom/Adams retire.

Adams is completely woeful. He may see out the season in the best 23. But he needs to be moved on post-haste.

In our current quick ball moving and transitioning side. He is the odd one out. Stops, props, ballks and feins to his own detriment. When all is required is a quick handball to a better ball user.

He is now in denial as to his position in the team. And his $800K+ salary can be better used getting a gun mid in to help Nick and DeGoey. Pendles as good as he is playing can’t keep doing it for much longer.

Everyone’s time come. Unfortunately for Tay Tay his was up 2 years ago.

I still can’t believe we gave Heater up for him……Ridiculous call.

That was my feel from the stands as well. It was like watching someone losing their v plate forced, rushed and messy. Thankfully McRae is a coach I have faith in managing a situation like this. All things being equal on form he goes out for Carmichael this week, but it feels like a Bobby Hill moment where Adams needs some reminding of why he’s been a stalwart for us the past decade. It’s a hard pass from me on the “groin” stuff because none of what he struggled with was the result of a supposed injury.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking Adams is disappointing lately! Too much pressure on this list to have under-performing players holding their spot. You don't give your all, expect someone else to come in and take your spot!

Would like to see him deployed in a tagging role vs teams that warrant it. I.e. a Lachie Neale or a Petracca

I've never been an Adams hater but if selection integrity matters to McRae then Taylor wouldn't want to put in similar performances over the next couple of weeks against lowly opposition. He was a hot mess against Carlton no question.

In reality and if you look at the situation removed of emotion with the addition of Mitchell, transition of De Goey to the midfield and emergence of the Daicos brothers he is no longer as vital to our midfield group as he once was.

I mentioned it earlier that Adams seems to be playing a bit of a defensive role at stoppages. On the flip side, both Mitchell and JDG are having cracking seasons. Mitchell has been massive in our clearance work and I think it's because of Adams hard work. I don't like his decision making and disposal at times and would love to have a look at Carmichael for a couple of weeks. I can't see Adams being dropped this year but he looks like he could be managed for a week

Laugh react is for the joke, not the substance of your post which I fully agree with.

I just hope Tay's decision making of late isn't because he is being asked to do things within his role by coaches that are beyond his skillset. If so then he'll be the one most at risk of making way for Lipinski. The spots on the ground Tay gets the ball in his hands are parts of the ground I'd love Lipinski to have those touches.
