Or at least do it a bit closer to actually create some perceived pressure. Right now you can see the opposition player realising they have some time and space to make and execute the right decision.
We put zero pressure on the oppo when we dont have the ball. We dont:
- Close in on the ball carrier and tackle or limit their space to move.
- Try with earnest to smoother disposals.
- Get across to intercept or create a contest.
We just let the oppo waltz passed or out of their D50 with ease.

I know he wouldn't accept it but I wouldn't be against Teague being an assistant coach to a Clarkson or Ross Lyon.

He isn't a senior coach. Or at best he isn't a senior coach yet.

Teague seems a good bloke and I know some feel sorry for him but I don't think he is the coach to get us to be a consistently competitive footy team and play finals. His game plan has huge holes in it and we have enough evidence of that this season to make a call. I vote to move him on

Agree with this.
2019, was his chance to prove he deserved a chance get get fans excited about the playing group and what they can accomplish. Attendance was up and membership spiked.
2020, was a chance to implement the new game style in a full season. That being said throughout the season it became obvious that the game plan would not lead to long term success and had to be fixed. Too many teams were scoring too easily against us. The opportunity was there to change the staff however Teague chose to stay firm with the coaching group. Admirable yes given all the cuts at the club but THERE HAD TO BE improvements in 2021.
2021, No noticeable change in the game style in 2021. No ability to coach during games. Games have been won off individual brilliance.

When you have two of the best defenders in the league, Coleman leading FF and a young superstar in the midfield you should be better than 13th. Yes, there have been injuries to key position players this year but that is no excuse for yesterdays' 3rd quarter.

Yesterday was the last straw for me. We weren't even competitive.

No moves were made from the box, and when I see this bloke looking bored in the box making 0 effort to swing the game

-Left Plowman to get murdered by Larkey. This is not a criticism of Plowman.
-Left Stephenson to do as he wanted.
-No faith at selection. Brought Owies in for our Coleman leading 202cm full forward.
-Cunnington running and absolute muck in the middle.
-Cripps was persisted with in the forward line. Refused to lead. Wanted the ball kicked to him 1 on 1 with McKay.

I could go on and on. If we want to take the next step this isn't the bloke to take us there.

Agree and disagree with this post.

For the record, I think Teague needs to be absolutely replaced and selection this year has been utter garbage (Setterfield, Cottrell, Casboult, Newnes etc continually being gifted games) which I can only assume he has final call on however I do sympathise with his limited options re: availability.

In regards to yesterday;
>Plowman was moved on to Larkey after had towelled up Weitering and Jones.
>Cripps is seriously sore. Shouldn’t have played & won’t be surprised if he’s put out for the year now.
>which tall forward would have you brought in to replace Harry? We have NONE available.

we played yesterday without any of of our tall key forwards that are on our list:
McKay, C.Curnow, McGovern, Levi, McDonald
We also played without top 22 players: Docherty, Cuningham, Marchbank & effectively Zac Williams.

Cottrell, Newnes, Ed Curnow, Williamson, Murphy, Plowman...our team resembled our reserves team more than our senior team yesterday.

Teague has been slaughtered by injuries to important players but that said, our structures both offensively and defensively are not AFL standard. Time to bring in a coach that drives stronger standards and attitudes.

In his defence, his press conferences are less cliche filled now and he actually analysing the performances of players and game style.
Unfortunately he is doing not much about fixing these issues. I think he will be replaced, if not at the end of the year then at the first sign of a wobble in 2022. He is on a very short leash.
Might make a great commentator Leppa style. Maybe we can trade Teague for Leppa straight up with his media bosses?

The disconnect between the Senior Coach and the Director of High Performance is a key factor in player management apparently.

The lack of tactical nous from the Senior Coach became clear to someone key on our board in preseason.

There are onsiders who play as stabilisers in the team. Senior players are coaching on the field- able to because of an absence of strong system or proper scouting of opposition coaching plans.

He’ll survive, reason is we are now so driven by doing the right thing and what the AFL want since our salary cap breach. And since AFL, media and do good ers want us to give Teague a chance with better assistants, this is the narrative we’re going to follow and what the club has attempted to brainwash us into accepting

Don't think so

He’ll survive, yes, but won’t be coaching Carlton in 2022. It was written on many faces, including his, during the second half and post match yesterday!

First and foremost its a breath of fresh air around here having people disagree with you and post something constructive as opposed to questioning the intelligence levels of the poster.

Yes Cripps has been absolutely struggling all year this year but I honestly believe we did a fantastic job without him in there last week I don't believe we should be risking him, and also I believe him to be liability getting around the way he currently is.

Who would I have bought in to replace McKay? Well Teague has proved on a number of occasions he doesn't mind playing someone who is not at 100%, why not throw Curnow in. Obviously not being privvy to how much work Curnow has done or hasn't I make that comment in jest, however, Owies was not the answer. It would have been my last resort. None the less we bought Owies in but kept a game plan that comprised of having H. Mckay in there, IF no short options appear go long to the hotspot, but we had no talls to represent us there. Baffles me.

I would have gone TDK as full time forward yesterday, JSOS second forward and have Curnow ruck... just feed off Goldstein’s taps by playing shoulder to shoulder with the North mids during taps

This just about sums it up.
I feel for the guy, but then again, it's a brutal industry.

I’m truly very sad to see that - but we need to move forward (and in defence too, and midfield, anyway)

Teague seems to be a great guy (but so is RB - well maybe not🤪) but neither of us should be Senior Coach in 2022!

I hate the thought of the club having to sack Teague. Seems like a genuinely good man. This last 12 months must have been really hard on him.

Our injury curse hasn't helped his cause, however its becoming apparent Teagues game plan isn't up to winning games of footy consistently.

The high press, and wanting to lock the ball into our forward 50 means our forward line gets really congested and very hard to get clean entries and score. Such a high press also means when teams transition and rebound quickly they have so much space to work in, and their forward line is nice and open for their dangerous forwards. Teague is just lucky we have two of the best 1 on 1 defenders in the league, otherwise we would have received some genuine beltings this year.

I don't think David is going to concede the game plan isn't effective, so I think the club are going to have no choice but to move him on.

Feel bad for him but its a brutal industry.

ROSS THE BOSS

Why would he come to Carlton to report to Liddle and Lloyd? Ridiculous situation the Club has been sucked into - by listening to a CEO on training wheels. Teague is a symptom not a cause.

Unfortunately, we went down the track of appointing a group of people who were going to need to learn on the job which is bewildering really.
