What a surprise Khawaja throws away another start out for 56, this is why this bloke doesn't deserve to be selected, he simply doesn't covert.

Yes, he did, but that isn't amongst the best two or so bowling lineups seen in the SS this season. I'd take Bird, Butterworth and Faulkner for a test team over McDermott, Feldmen and Cutting any day.
Threw Quiney under the bus to protect Hughes against the SA attack. Pathetic.
Quiney was indeed thrown under the bus by being selected in the test side. He should never have been under consideration.
Nah can't have that.
Quiney was the Shield player of the Year and made 938 runs @ 50. If you have any faith in our systems and based on his knock against SA in Sydney then he was entitled to his place in the team.
That he failed was a disappointment but I'll give you Graham Gooch, Marvin Attapatu, Ken Rutherford and Martin Crowe as examples of blokes who came back from making a pair at the start and then made a reasonable Test career out of it.
One season averaging 50 makes up for the other seasons averaging bugger all?? An average of 37 at first class cricket doesn't scream out test cricketer especially at the age of 30.
Guessing all these blokes who failed early in their careers were in their early 20's instead of 30?
Why won't Khawaja and Hughes get another shot? They are still young. A couple of great seasons and they are right back in it.
I'd say that's true of Hughes, he won't be back if he makes a mess of this go, but I wouldn't think Khawaja is in the same boat. He's really only had one shot at Test Cricket and Australian was possibly at it's nadir when he debuted, the circumstances were very difficult.History will tell you that you only ever get a maximum of three chops at making it as a Test Cricketer in this country.
If you do not grasp it in three, the theory is you will not make it on the fourth attempt and the selectors will quietly put a pen through the name or note NTBS against it and move on to the next candidate.
Hooksey, Greg Matthews and Ray Bright all got a fair few bites at the cherry. The only guy I can think of who got four goes at Test Cricket was Langer and that was only because he was the only guy available on the Ashes tour when Slater got dropped.
I'd rather play Johnson than Hilfenhaus who has been diabolical this summer!
Hooksey, Greg Matthews and Ray Bright all got a fair few bites at the cherry.
Hookes & Matthews only got three, Spotty was slightly different as he was a specific needs player. I'd argue that Langer only got three as well.
There isn't a magical number of how many chances a player gets at Test level. What a ridiculous notion.
Hughes is still very young; 24. So you're saying if he fails against Sri Lanka then he'll get a line through his name?
While admittedly he hasn't had the best start to a summer he has been very economical and taken wickets at a better average than Siddle. Siffas showed what they could do to a bowling attack that can't keep it tight from at least one end.
Tahir = Diabolical
Hilfy (and every other Aus bowler) = disappointing.
I think they would have the 11 worked out already and seeing as Hilfy has been told to miss the Big Bash opener it indicates to me that he is in the XI.
