HAHAHA what a dickwit, Maybe Brown and black had the ops if they even did because they knew they wouldnt be playing.

From what i have heard tarrant has been playing with his injury since either round 4 or 5. Caracella has been restricted hugely for the last 8 rounds.
You have to play them when you have every other forward and every reserves forward out injured all year. Pies will be a force next year, moreso since everyone but 8-10 regular players havent even played over 6 games. Start there preseasons now if i were the pie players injured all year.

Ha, ha, Yeah that would have been the plan.

Otherwise they would happily have played with crippling injuries.

Not the smartest sharpest tool in the shed are ya spoon.

As a dockers fan i saw first hand in the middle of the year how injuries to key players hurt our win loss tallys... Id be interested to see who you lot see as being the club that has been most crippled by injury this year....

I would have thought the Pies at a glance, but feel free to correct as im sure you will....

Probably Geelong to be honest ... They have been smashed by injuries late in the season which will cost them a chance of challenging for the flag this year.
Saints early in the year, but have recovered nicely.

Roger Hayden 19 (broken leg, hammy)
Robert Haddrill 16 (ankle)
Matthew Carr 9 (stress fracture foot)
James Walker 9 (stress fracture foot)
-----
4 of our back 7 (one of Carr or Walker a defensive midfielder)

Byron Schammer 6 (broken wrist)
Graham Polak 6 (knee)
Des Headland 5 (Hammy/ankle)
Peter Bell 3 (hammy)
Luke McPharlin 3 (hammy)
Jeff Farmer 3 (hammy)
That's 79 games out of 418 (19*22), or 19%, or equal to 4 top line players missing every week.

Non-Top 22s to miss some games from injury
Steven Dodd, Dunn, Webster, Siegert, McManus, Schofield, Haines, Browne

Carlton would have to have had the least amount of injuries, maybe we needed more injuries to stop the rotation of the fringe players. Clarke, prenda, digby, chambers, sporn, wiggins, bannister etc.

mmmmmmmm..............go blues

Every club (Adelaide and West Coast the exception) has a valid argument RE; their injuries to players this year. The impact to team performance is affected by many reasons as well as who is injured, at what point of the season and the length of time out from the game.

.

I wouldn't say West Coast hasn't had injuries that have affected the side

Our forwards have been missing quite a bit due to injuries

Sampi
Hansen
Embley
Gardiner
McDougall
B Smith
Matera

You won't see Roos supporters complaining about injuries this year. Had a dream run in comparison to most other squads. Motlop been the only real glaring absentee, and lately Simpson for a couple of games, but apart from that, mostly a clean bill of health from the starting 22.
I've got absolutely no doubt that a fit team has allowed the Roos to perform as well as they have. So I don't buy the theory that injuries are no excuse for losing.

Essendon could be a nomination here.

Allan - 1 game for '05 (season)
Alvey - 8
Bolton - 13
Bradley - 16
Bullen - 6
Cupido - 11
Fletcher - 17 (now season)
Haynes - 4
Henneman - 9
Hille - 10
Hird - 14
Johns - 3
Laycock - 13 (season)
Lloyd - 17
McPhee - 14 (season)
Ramanauskas - 3 (season)
Reynolds - 1
Rioli - 11
Solomon - 16 (season)
Watson - 2
Zantuck - 9 (season)

i can't understand the fuss over geelong's injuries.

Harley is a big loss, Mooney aswell, but the rest are just average players.

In terms of key players Collingwood and St.Kilda have been hit the hardest.

Collingwood has spent most of the season without, Rocca (CHF) Buckley (midfield and captain/best player) and Fraser (ruck)

St.Kilda has been without Riewoldt(CHF and captain), Hamill, Koschitzke, Harvey for long periods of time.

I wouldve thought you would know these names quite well:

Mark Williams
Sam Mitchell
Chance Bateman
Campbell Brown

Seeing as they ripped your pathetic team apart earlier in the year...
Ha...wth..orn. I can't seem to find this team or its 'stars'. Where about on the ladder shall I find them?

Taking out those 2 we're left with the following:

King - 6
Ottens - 5
Enright - 6
Wojcinski -18
Sanderson - 13
D Johnson - 9
S Johnson - 12
Playfair - 4

King has been dodgy all season and is our No.1 ruckman so ther's obviously a fair bit of importance there. Ottens is a key part of our team and was a major part of our midseason success. Enright would've be in our top 3 players had he not been injured. Wojcinski is our run out of defence and has been sorely missed, mainly due to the fact that we lack experienced players with pace. Sando is a leader of the club and is as courageous as they come, he is vital experience and a cool head in the backline. DJ has really stepped up this year but is not as important as the others. SJ is a freak and is the X-factor of our forward line, he is probably the most talented player on our list, our forward line is far better with him in it. Playfair is our CHF and is crucial to our structure, he was also improving rapidly when he got injured and it was a major set back for him.

One of the things which can make injuries hard to deal with is when you get a lot in the same area. We are currently lacking in defenders with Sando, Wojcinski, Enright, Callan, DJ, Mooney and Harley all missing, probably 4 of those guys would be in our starting back 6. When you also consider the fact that last year we made a prelim on the back of our defence, it's a very big loss. The Saints lost Reiwolt, Hamill and Kosi for a fair chunk during the middle of the season and dropped well out of the 8 because of it. Geelong are currently going through the same thing and as a result are only just hanging on to our spot in the 8.

granted, ottens and king are important to your teams structure but none of the players mentioned are 'star players'

thats a pretty pathetic argument. a team of champions will always lose to a champion team. just because a player might not be rated highly doesent mean his contribution to the team is vital.

Do they have to be a 'star player' to be a loss?
All those players are vitally important to Geelong's structure.

Geelong don't really have any star players anyway.

dogs have had gian, grant, darcy...

The team that has had the best run is North.

Motlop is pretty much the only player they haven't had all year.

All credit to their training staff I reckon.

Yep, I agree.

The Saints and Collingwood would probably be the worst. Hawthorn had a pretty good run the 1st half of the season, but have 12 players out for the season ATM.
