Ive heard the story from so many people but is there too much respect for the bloke by the press to come out with it?

Christiansen still prickles when he mentions Matthews name in the media. The dislike is palpable. This also explains Matthews relationship with Aker.

Although not teammates, Kent Kingsly and Bomber Thompson had a well known falling out which resulted in Kingsly being traded off to the Tiges and Bomber nearly moving clubs..

What was the Ottens/King incident ?

I heard that Bomber had done the dirty on kingsly's mrs at the time and a few of the players were filthy on him resulting in a couple trying to run Bomber out of the club

Have heard that off a few Geelong supporters and a ex player

Cummings did a sportsman day at my old footy club a few years back now and was talking about when he got traded to Port.
He said that Wanga was the first bloke on the phone and they lived together until he went to West Coast.
One of the funniest blokes you'll ever meet that day he had the room in tears.

I don't move in the same circles as some of you, but I am fortunate enough to be able to say, with absolute certainty, that the Cox-West one is spot on.

A friend of mine does some work with one of the parties involved, and I just happened to be present at a lunch/coffee some years ago. Confirmed exactly as described by the aggrieved party..

From what I've gathered there is some truth in it. Thompson and his wife split up around that time which would only fuel the fire.

But I've heard it was Kingsley's ex-girlfriend, not his girlfriend at the time. Either way, after kicking 10 in a pre-season game and 8 in his first game back for the team that year, Kingsley had a shocking game the next round and only got one more chance after that.

I think the relationship was defianately strained, but whether that was because Thompson did the dirty or because Kingsley just couldn't string some good performances together is debateable.

Yeah Stuie Anderson used to coach down at Sale in Gippsland and was never shy in telling everyone he 'was on the same boat as Carey!!!'.

Yeah definately in Carey's boat, before Carey & then over in Freo it was McManus' missus, hence his sudden retirement at age 27-28
