S2 ep 2

A bit of a filler episode but more development with Roy as a pundit and Dr. Sharon the psychologist.

But then also
Jamie is back!

- Roy trying to adapt to life after football
- Ted trying to cope with the doctor stepping onto his turf
- Jamie returning to a club where nearly everyone hates him
and of course it hasn't been established whether or not Ted will be successful as a soccer coach.

Are they not plotlines?

They are mundane uninteresting cliched plot lines.

Also
- Richmond hasn't won a game to start the season.

Maybe the show’s not for you?
people need to stop getting so defensive cos a show they love isn’t getting universal glowing praise.

last season was fine. This season has started very mundane and cliched.

the whole plot line for bringing Jamie back is also utterly stupid. A gun player isnt going to be rejected from every team in the premier league because of something that happens on reality tv. It’s just a nonsensical plot. Plus he and the other players at Richmond were getting on before He was traded last season. Now they hate him again. Did the writers forget what happened
last season? that whole plot line has been nonsense so far.

show has also had zero emotional depth so far unlike last season. Nothing. It’s missing a decent plot. It’s missing the emotion. And it’s comedy is still extremely lacking. Lassos metaphors are cringeworthy. It may find its groove but the first 2 episodes were awful.

No one’s getting defensive …couldn’t give a shit if not getting love. And just because you don’t like it that’s ‘not getting universal love’?Odd take.

Other teams don’t want Jamie because he walked out on his club for a reality show not what happened in the show. Unlikely in real life but who gives a shit

Spot on; will persist

It’s not hitting that ‘Scrubs’ must watch that occurred late S1 into S2-3

The people who give a shit are people who want a good show. If the plot is about how he comes back then it needs to make sense, ofcourse the plot could be something else and then it matters less so but at the moment we don’t have that something else. Not writing the season off yet. The start has been very uninteresting though.

I'm enjoying S2 but agree with Seeds a little bit that the plot has lost its sharpness compared to S1.

Ted is no longer a rookie soccer coach. He no longer has family issues. He doesn't have conflicts with the press. He doesn't amuse us so much with his naive comparisons between everyday things in the US and the UK.

Rebecca no longer wants to secretly undermine the club because of the antagonism with her ex-husband. That means Jeremy's role as the conflicted operator of her schemes is redundant.

Ray's role as angry captain of the team has been reduced to grunting on TV shows and looking after an 8 yo girl.

Nate is now an assistant coach but where now for his character?

Where now also for Keeley's character?

Jamie is the star player that the other players hated - and now in a fairly contrived fashion he is back in with the team. But now what?

Ep 3 was ordinary
I actually thought it was slightly better. But the plot is going no where. keely, Nate and ray have no relevance anymore to The story. Teds only plot is his issue with the counselor. Jamie has a plot but it’s completely contrived and inconsistent with the previous seasons outcome. Rebeccas story is also completely boring.

this show is starting to look in trouble.

I'm surprised by the disappointment in the show in this thread. For me, it's still got the charm and still makes me laugh. I do agree that it's hard to see where some of the characters move forward to, but they're obviously bringing Sam's story more to the fore this season. I particularly liked that they based his protest on something that has happened in reality (just google Shell and Nigeria and you'll find out all about it), so am quite interested to see what happens next around that.

And I'm definitely not sick of seeing Roy in his post-football like enjoying (in his own way) things that you wouldn't expect him to. I actually think I enjoy his character this season, as he was pretty close to a stereotype when he was in the team.

Probably because most of Australia is in lockdown and cant do much at home.
It's not like there aren't other options. I get it though, it's hard to stop watching shows that you used to love. I watched every episode of Preacher and literally only every 3rd or 4th episode was actually good. By the end, I was just watching to see the end of the story and to justify why I'd wasted so many hours of my life not stopping when I should've.

Still great. I enjoyed the latest episode.

I am just confused if you're not enjoying a show, why would you continue to watch it?
Im still in.
Especially when the old dog wasn’t the one that was shitting and pissing all over the pub.
