There was an Adelaide (AFL) Football Club est 1991 and they became defunct at the end of 2013.
Then a new Adelaide (AFL/SANFL) Football Club est 2014 came into existence.
Once you enter a new competition and change the structure of a club you become a new club.

There were plenty of announcements that the old AFL only Adelaide Football Club was no longer going to exist and that a new AFL/SANFL club would replace it. Different structure, different comp, different club.
