St Kilda midfielder Brad Crouch has today announced his retirement from Australian Rules Football, effective immediately.

Crouch hangs up the boots after a total of 161 AFL games since making his debut for Adelaide in Round 2 of the 2013 season against Brisbane.

During this time, he was awarded the Crows’ prestigious Malcolm Blight Medal (2019), finished inside the top 10 of St Kilda’s Trevor Barker Awards (2022, 2023) and also polled a career-best 18 votes in the 2023 Brownlow Medal count.

The decision comes after months of rehabilitation following arthroscopic surgery to address ongoing degenerative knee issues.

“This is a really disappointing way for Brad’s career to end,” Executive General Manager of Football David Misson said.

Very frustrating the Club didn’t know this before the draft.
I'm pretty sure they did.

It's got something to do with how his player payments are now structured seeing as he triggered the additional year.

Someone smarter than me can shed light.

Regardless, will be missed. A great pick up.

As has been mentioned above.....he was missed immensely last season.

Who knows,Brad in the side may have got us over the line in a few of those close losses.

And I'm sure most would remember the "Great Brad Robbery" late in 2020.

We wanted him....Adelaide said "get ducked"......the Crows were trying so so hard to bluff us out of things.

We stood our ground.....they blinked first and we got our man.

Seeing he's officially retired....I'll share this quick story.

Several of us track watchers were having coffee's/toasties after training and talking all things Saints ......probably with 5-6 games to go last season.

Brad was coming towards us from the players wing......all heads turned.....he stopped in front us with a big smile on his face.....one brave soul asked....."How's the knee going Brad"

He loudly barked..."Shithouse"

Cue Brad and everyone pissing themselves and off he went for a coffee.

That's when we knew he was in real strife with his knee.

He seemed a great guy....always smiling and having a laugh.

Thanks for your service Brad and all the best for the future.

Great speech.
Was a fabulous pick up for us, gave everything.
And by the sounds of it was a really good guy to have around the place.
Really sorry it came to a premature end. Can only wish him huge success in his life after.

Thanks Brad.

We all knew it was coming, but still sad to see him go due to chronic injury. Easily one of our best mids, had a bit of the larrikin in him, which is great. Footy needs more personality (not TikTok meme selfie Hoks shite, I mean actual real personality)...and we've lost one.
Good luck for the future Brad 👍
