Review That Daisy Thomas game v Pies a few years back

I was trying to tell someone that we beating the Pies in late 2006 led to Daisy T going to the Pies as a priority pick.

I was at the game and we were 20 points down with 5 minutes to go and we came back and won it due to a Nathan T goal with a minute to go.

Had the Pies won, they would have missed the priority pick.

Was this the case before I go shooting off my big mouth in the public arena with all these over excited Pies supporters floating around tomorrow back at work????

Shoot away. Yes, yes but it was August 2005. And without that loss (and the string of others late that year) they would have had to choose between Pendlebury and Thomas - two guys who could have delivered two Norm Smith medals this week.

Not that it didn't hurt them plenty on the day, but a massive silver lining at draft time. And the beginning of the end of the PP system, that they got two top 5 picks for a single year off the top (as Geoff Walsh pointed out at the time IIRC? before he jumped ship).

Yes quite correct (2005 as HtoH points out). Well do I recall the worried looks on Mick n Eddies faces when it looked like they might win. It was an exciting finish for us kicking 4 goals in 5 minutes to win at the death and I was quite euphoric but, later ,I felt there was something NQR about it.
