We haven't and won't bid for Tomkins

Dave Sullivan seems to suggest otherwise. Two clubs bid for him. One is definetly Newcastle. Who the hell could the other be besides you?. Newcastle bid 2 mill, you then bid 2.5 mill. We then made comments saying hes not for sale

TBH I think we would be asking for 15 mill for him. 22 year old English CB, with a 5 year contract, would be Championship player of the year atm (might be 2nd to Peter Whittingham) as a CB. Won something like 6 MOTM awards in a row for us when hes played. Easily better then Gary Cahill who was getting offers of around 10 mill despite being nearly out of contract. Hugely underrated player but I expect that given hes playing in the second tier

Literally the only other club I can think of too. Still papers suggest Tottenham. We also had Vedran Corluka attend our recent home game, hoping to secure a loan deal which Tottenham flat out rejected. The 2.5 mill bid was more or less of payback for that id say. In the Parker deal we were supposed to get a player on season long loan. We got David Bentley who did his knee and is out for the season. We want Corluka as his replacement. Tottenham dont want or think they should replace him. I dont think they should have too either personally but I also dont think Harry should be making comments like "hes too good for the Championship" about players we are publically bidding for (Jordan Rhodes)

They made a bid but Borgsta is right in saying it was never serious. They dont want Tomkins nor would we sell to them after the tapping up our phones scandal (all happened after Parker sale btw)

No doubt they will sell him but not in January and not for bloody 8 million. They got offered more then that in the summer...

Understand however Bolton were offered more than 7 odd mill for Cahill in the summer. Circumstances change...........but that doesnt change my utter disbelief in the Venky style management of Blackburn.

Alot of rumors about that Venky is merely a front for another ownership group (agents like Kia Joorchabin and the like). I doubt its true because they would have the money to bankroll the club

Venky had the money but as a company its going down the crapper in the past 6 months. The Indian government has forced them to build new factories/improve conditions and this has literally taken up every cent they have meaning they can no longer give money or put money into the clubs bank accounts. All in all its very dodgy the FA let them become owners

Apparently Villa are after Drogba should Bent join us. Real purchase for the future there. Imagine that Drogba couldn't be worth more then 3-4 million with his contract running out and his age. Villa fans ought to be pissed with Randy Lerner if this is true, he is selling there best players and replacing them with bargain basement buys.

There's been some pretty strong rumors linking Carroll with a return to St James' Park in the vicinity of 20 million or so. I can't see Carroll staying if Bent joins.

Drogba has about as much chance of joining Aston Villa as Luis Suarez and John Terry do of co-leading the Fight against Racism protests in London. Stupid rumor is stupid

If they do lose Bent they will sign a stopgap replacement for now and spend in the summer. A stopgap in the form of Carlton Cole, Kenwyne Jones and if they get real testy and decide to spend big maybe Bobby Zamora
