Has he specifically said that?
Anyway, why is it up to YOU to determine whether there is or isn't a racist element here? What qualifies you to do that?

Read through previous posts.. I stated his behavior.. Not what he did or didn't say.

Did I write that it was up to me? I've stated in every response that its an opinion on elements of crowd behavior. I certainly don't need you or anyone else's approval to form an opinion. Nor have I attacked you or anyone else who doesn't agree with my opinion contrary to those who are pushing theirs. (opinion)

The majority are not booing him because of his race, if he woke up and smelled the roses once in a while he'd know this.
And what about the people who are booing him because of race? Those who join in know about it, and are approving it by joining in.

I think Anthony Mundine is the biggest flog in Australian sport. Maybe in world sport. If he miraculously played an AFL game next year and I went to a game and booed him, would that make me a racist?

Here's Goodes' speech when he accepted Australian of the Year. Which apparently turned so many people against him. Go on then. Which part of this offends you so much?

Like his press conference after the "ape" incident people are most offended because they don't read past the headlines, listen to shock jocks who selectively quote some sections only, or are poorly educated and cannot comprehend complex discussion.

So... a big fan of Goodes until he started becoming more vocal on indigenous issues?

I've got no problem with Goodes being vocal about indigenous issues but not the way he has tried to hijack the game to push his political agenda.

The AFL is not the place for it, if he wants to talk about these issues he should go into politics or go on Q&A to discuss it where it belongs.

"I liked Adam Goodes until he started acting all Aboriginal"

Well done for misconstruing my point Charlie Pickering, I bet you mistakenly think you're as clever and witty as he does.

Opposition supporters will keep booing while they get a reaction that helps their team

Boo him and he reacts and it puts him (and his team mates) off playing at his best - they will keep booing

Boo him and he ignores it, kicks 10 goals and Swans win - they will stop booing

So basically what occurs whenever any player gets booed for any reason??

Where did I say that?

I just said that Goodes has tarnished his reputation as a great player by his behaviour in recent years like Hird has.

It's OK to say that about Hird though as he isn't indigenous, apparently all of Goodes behaviour is beyond reproach due to his race.
Yeah nah, Hird is the last thing this thread needs. Goodes and Hird don't belong in the same sentence, except this one.

So being a great player and all round nice guy that Goodes is he decided to do a war dance at paying patrons of the game he is employed by but never had to face the AFL HR department for threatening people with harm.

Seems fair he can call everyone racist then.

fancy doing a war dance, truly threatening to the crowd.

what he should have done was run into an open goal, kick the ball low and hard into the head of an old lady from the opposition cheer squad, follow it up with an "up yours" fist gesture while glaring at the cheer squad, like plugger did at the scg.

might have made the cut for the next edition of biffs, bumps and brawlers, and be celebrated as a larrikin.

What would people tell their 10 year old if they said that they were told they shouldn't boo Adam Goodes but they can Boo Joel Selwood and they asked what's the difference between Selwood and Goodes ?

You would tell the 10 yo to stop booing. Unless of course they were sitting next to you and mimicking your behaviour.

He pointed out a young girl, yes it was a split second decision he made after being called an ape. What would you have done in the moment?

He did what any other person may have done in that situation - stood up for his rights.

My take on his views are that he's a proud Australian he is high profile and like many high profile figures he felt he has an obligation to raise awareness to a big issue that we all face and he personally has had to face over the years. He unlike many indigenous Australians has the opportunity to be heard and speak for those that don't have a voice. The invasion day comment has been wildly blown out of context, I would suggest reading the full statement to those that are just following the leader.

The media has gone about it the wrong way IMO to create undeserving controversy. Regardless of what people think about Adam, he will be remembered as a pioneer of the game for the rights of indigenous players. He's won 2 brownlows, 2 grand final medals and thinking back to his career is a great player. I just cant fully subscribe to the narrow opinion that the only reason he gets booed is because people want to racially vilify him.

And what about the people who are booing him because of race? Those who join in know about it, and are approving it by joining in.

It's not as simple as that, you're going to interview every single spectator at the ticket gate and ask them if they intend on booing on racist thoughts from now on.
