Bluebaggers score in single digits while opponents in the 60s.
An iconic duo.

Our women's program has been poor ever since the expansion clubs pilfered it. Collingwood much the same.

Surely that excuse doesn't fly anymore, it's the third season since expansion. Pies have just copped a bunch of injuries which is their biggest issue this season.

How does it not? We've lost more players than we've been able to bring in. Not to mention the players we've brought in weren't at the level of the players that departed.

We've been over this before, expansion happened too quickly imo. I get it's nice to let everyone have a team but it screwed the clubs that were prepared to do this from the outset.

On a side note, the midweek games might be fun but there's now 3 squads that are under the 24 player threshold.

Too many games in quick succession? Not ideal for any concussions either.

Haven't noticed any injuries in the games I've watched - have there been a bunch following the mid-week games? Thought Dogs, Pies, etc. were having a huge amount of injury issues prior to midweek coming in? Sounds like from next year they'll bring the season start forward anyway which is great. I wonder if they'd do a full on Bye week for the men's comp as everyone wants, and kick the women off then almost mid-year which seems best of both worlds

Because, as I said, it's now been three years since the final four clubs came in and clubs have been able to fill out their lists through three drafts and trade periods since that point. Whinging about clubs coming in is just a crutch for clubs like the Dogs and Blues to justify mediocrity.

Not necessarily in the mid week game themselves but Bri Davey for instance was concussed in a game - with the mandatory stand down period, she then missed 2-3 games due to the nature of the fixture.

We won't see this the same way. I'll leave it at that.

Yeah that's just unlucky. Was always going to be the case over this period, and will be mitigated when the fixture expands further to 12 games next year so missed games have less impact.

Is that confirmed? They didn’t expand this year as they were concerned on crowd attendances and ratings. Both low again this season

Not really sure it's luck so much as poor fixturing.

There's a reason the men's game have never really done it outside of ANZAC or Covid. Expecting it of the women was always going to be a poor idea.

AD said on 360 that they want the season to be in October/November still so it wont get pushed back that far. Will go back an extra week and start in the last round of the mens footy is what is most likely to happen.

Why is that? The NRLW start late but that's so their GF is played on the same day as the men's GF.

I've never quite understood the rationale for the AFLW.

Yeah short term I think that'll be the avenue, but he did suggest that kicking off over a bye in the men's comp is being looked at, which makes me think in future years that'll be the ultimate aim to get them to a 17 round comp.

They did expand this year, they're playing 11 games this year up from 10 last year. It's confirmed as going to 12 next year.

I don't hate the theory particularly over school holidays and it's been nice to have footy on most nights of the week but it was never going to be great for the players to put up with. I do wonder if they should have just held at 10 this year and then jumped to 12 next year by bringing the season forward a few weeks.

I am curious about how the players feel. Ash Riddell was asked about it last night after the game and said she personally loved it as she considers herself a fitness freak and it's a good test.
