That's going back a fair way. No idea.

Obviously remember Malthouse/Buckley. That was made so much worse due to Mick making back to back grand finals the year they decided to turf him.

It was the succession plan that seemingly inspired everyone else to do it so it seemed the relevant one to look at.

Was it before Collingwood's? Because that really inspired no one to do it haha. That 12 months was hilarious for anyone not in black and white.

It was in 2010. Malthouse was a year later wasn't it?

Didn't we announce Horse before Roos finished?
This is what came to mind for me as well.

And then Roos/Goodwin as well.

Maybe Roos is the answer to solving succession plans.

Roos also led some teams to hire caretaker coaches as full time because was such a success when he took over at Swans. So much so that Swans original target Terry Wallace missed out.

But in all the years I’ve followed AFL, euro and American football hiring caretakers full time has been a bad mistake.

In regards to succession plan think Roos has never had intention at Swans or Dees of stating very long so may have made it easier

I reckon I could build a list with the intention of sabotaging it at every turn and end up with a better forward 6 than that.

You probably could. Our last very good draft top to bottom was 2015. Yes, 10 years ago. After that, we drafted TDK at 30 and Walsh at 1, and perhaps Ollie Hollands at 11 was a hit. I can’t think of many other draft successes that we have had. KPD and small forwards should have been the draft focus for the last 4-5 years. It wasn’t… and we are left with the above shit sandwich.

For **** sake. I know it's irrational but that will piss me off even more when we lose haha.

I reckon we can win tonight and it all depends on how well Weitering can contain Naughton, Darcy, Vandermeer, Harmes, Kennedy and McNeill. :)

You're more optimistic than I.

We'll keep it close in the first half but I reckon the Dogs by 5-6 goals.

Haha yeah, my confidence in the season was sapped the moment after Richmond beat us.

I think Hawthorn made Alan Joyce a caretaker coach in 1988 and he completed the first half of a B2B flags. And then won one outright in 1991.
A bit different though. He took over from a sick Jeans and an already dominant team. Me and you could’ve coached those Hawks team to a flag.
