I know he's everyone's new favourite whipping boy but I thought Lucas was ok. In the absence of Masch he did a decent job getting around the pitch harrassing the Arsenal players. And that would have been a cracker of a goal if it wasn't for a good save. Still gets knocked off the ball too easily though.

The sending off, though it was unlucky, actually did Arsenal a favour I thought. For about the 30 minutes before it happened, i.e. when it was 11 vs. 11, we were clearly playing better than they were and I think had every chance of going on to win the game. Then they went down to 10 men, the crowd really got behind them and something of a siege mentality was created, and gave Arsenal something to which they could hold on. They thus tightened up, in particular ceasing to play that high defensive line which we'd previously exploited. So I don't believe the sending off helped our cause at all.

Agree with that.

They seemed to respond a bit to the crowd that turned feral extremely quickly. 11 v 11 we were all over them at the start of that second half.

Happy with a point though. Especially with Lucas playing

Hey, and even Keane scored! Good day for us. I ****ing hate playing there. All you can hear is loads of arrogant cockney chanting and moaning in the background.

And some Newcastle inspired booing! :D

Lucas is garbage. If hacking people down and grabbing their shirts is worth 6 million GBP and "playing well", then I'm Santa Claus. He's garbage and needs to be ****ed off ASAP.

El Zhar? Bizarre.

Babel. He couldn't care less. I'd be happy to sell him if we got our money back.

Insua. He's the sex. :thumbsu:

Couldn't agree more there Mr. Estibador. I thought Lucas was very good.

Bye bye Mr. Babel

Mr. Insua you are tehsex!

Lucas did what he had to do; play like Masch, harrasing the Arsenal players left right and centre. Also had a shot or two and played some nice balls. Not to shabby and not our worst.

Insua. More of that please :thumbsu:

Reina wasn't tested and the only thing he did was pick the ball out of his net.
Insua was fantastic, keep him in the side and just let him play
Carragher played okay, generally defended well and even got forward a little bit, got a bit lost when RVP got in between he and Agger
Agger was great I thought, got forward, had a shot which narrowly missed, played the ball for Keane which was the goal, defended well too.
Arbeloa continues to go about his business and just gets the job done time after time
Alonso wasn't at his best, he still played well but has been a lot better this season
Lucas was good, did what he had to do, played some nice balls, harrassed the Arsenal midfield, had a shot which was well saved
Riera was great on the left, perplexing substitution taking him off.
Steven Gerrard, did he play?
Dirk Kuyt back on the right hand side was good, had a shot which was well saved from Almunia again, did his job tracking back when Arsenal had the ball, a good performance
Keane lead the line very well, he got himself a goal and created another chance for Steven Gerrard.

Overall, it wasn't the worst performance and I'm happy with the point.

Bye bye Mr. Babel

He really was woeful when he came on. You could have been forgiven for thinking he was an Arsenal spy in Liverpool colours.

Still, I'm willing to give him more time. There's still a bucketload of potential there - the real worry is whether he has the desire to realise it. These reports of him not being particularly passionate about football are a bit of a worry.

Honestly, he's got a career being handed to him on a platter where he can earn more in one week than most people do in several years - for playing a game that most people happily play for nothing - and he (reportedly) doesn't even have the passion to fully apply himself to be the best he can be. That sort of thing shits me no end.

unfortunately you guys couldnt be more right about babel.

really doesnt look interested, looks lazy and has no impact what so ever.

if he doesnt pull his finger out and use his talent, what a waste of talent it will be.

has the attributes to be an outright star, born with natural skill but his work rate and desire is just not their.

Rafa likes hard workers and Babel ain't one of them, so the future's looking a bit grim.

I hope we keep him until at least the end of the season, there's just so much talent there, whether up front or on the wing.

I'm starting to think Riera is a left footed Kuyt, which is neither a complement nor a criticism, just an observation. I think there's got to be a risk when you play two wingers who are a bit 'samey' and importantly, neither has the blistering pace to hit the byline at regular intervals.

That's why I want to give Babel more time, he just has that x-factor.

Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin has revealed he is keen to join Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin on a permanent basis.

The 29-year-old Ukraine international joined Hertha from the Reds on a season-long loan in the summer and has scored three goals in 13 league appearances so far.

"I'm getting along fine at Hertha," he told Bild. "I've been well received by the players and there are no problems with the coaching staff and the manager."

He added: "Things are also going well with the football.

"The most important thing is what Hertha want. If the club really are interested in me staying, I'm sure we'll be able to find a way."

firmly agree. i dont even like the silver kit. that combo was disgraceful. why do we have average kits? i dont really like our red shirt much to be honest. red and white look good, why not go that combo?

Its 1am, so I might be reading this wrong...

But are you suggesting that Liverpool change from there classic all red uniform to a red and white ala Man U or Arsenal?

Couldn't agree more there Mr. Estibador. I thought Lucas was very good.

Thank god I wasnt the only one. I thought Lucas was fantastic. He has been very patchy this season, but when called upon in a big game, I thought he really produced. Still needs to put on some muscle but I think he's a terrific player.

As for Babel, I wont be too disappointed if he leaves in January.... for 15 million, hopefully.

Thanks for your time Dossena, enjoy the bench Aurelio. Insua is where it's at.

Everyone seems to have a lot of hate going on for NEZ? What's that about? Im honestly happier to see him come on than Babel half the time. The kid works hard, always tries to create something and often takes on the defence. He's no world beater but he offers more than the lazy, heartless Babel.

Robbie Keane scored one hell of a goal. That goal is dropping over his shoulder, he is some way out, just about at the top of the 18 yard box, he is at full pace and is being chased hard by two defenders with the goalkeeper coming at him. And he takes it on the volley after it bounces in front of him... bloody well taken!

Kuyt was fantastic. He is so much better wide right than alone up front. I dont mind him up front in a 4-4-2 though.

The red card sucked, Arsenal fans are having a whinge about it but they got better after the sending off and we got worse. I was confident we could go on and win it before the second yellow to Adebayor.

1-1 though isnt a horrible result. Gotta get Skrtel and Torres back and start racking up some wins. Torres changes us so much.

.

Disagree he gave away foul after foul and gave away possession a lot. I rate Plessis ahead of Lucas.

Babel had little time to show anything, very hard coming on as a sub for limited minutes.

Are you bloody mad? We are the Reds. We wear RED! (that whole grey/silver kit is bloody awful doesn't matter what combo you put it in.)

If someone had said at the start of the year -

You will beat Man U at Anfield

You will beat Chelsea at the Bridge

You will draw with Arsenal at the Emirates

and Torres wont play in any of those games.....

what would people have said?

Worst case scenario we are one point behind at Christmas.

jlc

Agree completely J23. Add no Skrtel to that list.

And. Outright top of the League at Christmas!

and the hat-trick of posts...

On Insua :D. More of him please Raffa, in a rotation with Aurelio & our LB position looks strong.

Keane's goal :D. More of that please Raffa/Robbie!

Lucas I didn't think was that bad. Sure fouled a lot. A lot. But that basically was his job, harrass the crap out of the Arse midfield. That is what he did. Some good attacking play too.

Babel . I am with you Esti. Can't stand guys with the talent he has, but cannot be arsed applying it. (give just a little bit of talent to me!!) By all accounts he would rather be a rapper than a footballer. You can see the talent he has, but you can also see he can't be bothered sometimes. Not good enough for LFC sorry Ryan. I like him, I hope his (percieved) attitude improves. If it doesn't though he might just become the best Dutch rapper in Madrid!

Funny season though. No one side dominating. Chelsea obviously have quality, but seem to lack their sting from the last couple of seasons. Mancs look dangerous, but a bad start to the season has them chasing. LFC performing solidly and consistently and leading the pack. Le Arse up and down like a yo-yo.

Hopefully with Nando & Skrtel back we can have our usual end of season run to the line, and this time get over first!

Chelsea draw & Fat John gets to eat doughnuts for at least one game! Not a bad result!

Disagree he gave away foul after foul and gave away possession a lot. I rate Plessis ahead of Lucas.

Plessis has been just about the worst player at reserve level this season.

Compared to last season, he's a different player. A much shitter one.

I'm not a Lucas fan, but I think he's a fair bit better than Plessis.

Babel not good enough?

You must all be trolls. ;)

Talentwise he's more than good enough.

He's just a lazy **** that would prefer to be rapping and smoking pot, rather than playing football.

We can't afford to have lazy pricks not pulling their weight.

Everyone seems to have a lot of hate going on for NEZ? What's that about? Im honestly happier to see him come on than Babel half the time. The kid works hard, always tries to create something and often takes on the defence.

He's a bit shit really, and playing him is a bit of a waste of time in all honesty.

He's also highly combustable. I always feel like he'll try and break someones leg, get sent off and we'll be playing with 10 in an important game.

Hopefully Adam Hammill is afforded the same opportunities when he returns soon.

He's no world beater but he offers more than the lazy, heartless Babel.

In effort, yeah. But NEZ is not all that talented.

As for Babel, I wont be too disappointed if he leaves in January.... for 15 million, hopefully.

We won't get 15m.

I'll be happy with 11, we'll probably get 8 or 9.

Thanks for your time Dossena, enjoy the bench Aurelio. Insua is where it's at.

Dossena the fat waster can hit the road. 7 million. Big tubs of jelly have become pretty expensive haven't they.

On the other hand the QE2 seems pretty cheap.

Aurelio is great, but he's staggeringly injury prone, and if Dossena wasn't so shit, I'd be for sending Aurelio out the door.

Insua is awesome. I love him. :thumbsu:

Shame to hear that. I was only going on what I saw last year as have seen no reserves football.
