I’m all for having seperate accounts and maybe one joint account where you transfer some pay in each week to put towards travel, house etc

True story about a mate of mine.

He had a small-ish mortgage left on his house. He got himself a girlfriend and she moved in. She came with a credit card debt of about $20k which she suggested they wrap up into his mortgage as the interest rate was so much lower. He said yes. Then she scarpered.

He has no idea whether that was the plan all along, or whether she initially did fancy him and only decided to lumber him with the debt after she'd soured on the relationship.

Last I heard - we live in different cities now and pretty much only chat when Port are playing Carlton - he was chasing her through the courts. But it wasn't even clear that it was fraud, so tricky.
