It's all part of the picture they're trying to paint of him. I would imagine it's probably very difficult for these papers/news websites to convince their readers that Suarez is the modern day Hitler without visual evidence of how menacing he looks.

Yes, they all have clandestine meetings where they wear tin foil on their head and plot their next move to turn the world against the charming boy.

Come on Moomba - even i sometimes think Liverpool fans like to play the victims, but the English media have shown themselves to be xenophobic to the highest level. Explain this image for me?

Moomba even you have to admit that its "odd" that out of all the photos they could have picked, they chose the one titled screwed up face

It's either extremely sloppy journalism, which is surprising given the site, or they are pandering to the public perception of Suarez

Amazing what a few billion pounds does to a supporters arrogance. I guess when you have such fine upstanding citizens such as Tevez playing for your club (or has he gone again, i cant keep up), you are quite qualified to comment...

don't forget balloteli lol

20m is too good an offer.
I will be sad but we have good replacements.
I wouldnt say we have good replacements. Carra is old and declining quickly, Coates is somewhat inexperienced in the prem, although he has a bright future. I guess you could play Kelly at CB, if we sell Dagger we better get a new CB worth 10 million plus

What, is not believing fanciful conspiracy theories arrogant nowadays?

Have you seen me complain about a photo of Tevez in the press.

As for a couple if billion, more fantasy.

Terry's PR team did their job. The press do what is in their commercial interests. The idea that they have a chafed agenda to make Suarez look bad is a bit naive I'm afraid.

Liverpool sacked their PR team didnt they? I wonder why!

FWIW I think the English media and the English public in the main are quite xenophobic. Look at the media treatment of bad boy Balotelli against someone like Wilshire who has a couple of criminal convictions to his name. Do they hate Balotelli, or conspire against him?

Nah.

This. I think it's more to do with generating hits/selling papers. He's the EPL's public enemy #1 at the moment, so it makes sense for the media to use photos & write in a manner which reflects this. Liverpool fans may not like it but the majority of the footballing public don't want to see a photo of a smiling Suarez signing a long term contract that triples his weekly income, they want to see a photo which reinforces their perception of him. The same happened to Cristiano Ronaldo over his involvement in the Wayne Rooney send off at the 2006 World Cup, but he came back the next season and took his game to another level. Hopefully Suarez does the same.

Nah, just a funny photo which the vast majority of theire readers will find amusing.

Such a load of typical double standards bs from moomba that I dunno where to begin

So i won't

Relief for you, sure, but then again you're thick skinned enough to a level that you believe your own bs anyway, so more relief for me that I don't have to see you embarrass yourself

I thought you weren't going to begin. Shame.

I thought you weren't going to begin. Shame.

Wasn't gonna begin on the shit you wrote about the English media, doesn't mean I can't respond in anything else

Or you just baiting now, like the windup merchant you've always been? Looks more like I baited you, good stuff

You can have the last word if you want, if it makes you feel smug, but then you always do

FWIW the media in this country (and Australia for that matter) is appalling. Lazy, whores itself to the majority, jingoistic, protective of favoured players and favoured PR/Agents.

They can effectively be bought, accuracy and balance is not even a secondary consideration.

Not worth the paper they're increasingly not printed on.

Enjoy your "baiting" triumph, PMSL. I'll go back to talking about football, not your favourite subject of me.

I think this is what annoys Liverpool fans, we can understand the negative tone of the media towards Suarez so long as other players who are just as big if not bigger twats receive the same treatment, and that's not the case as you pointed out with your Wilshere example and it's again proving to be the case with John Terry. What that man has done to deserve anyone's loyalty is beyond me.

.
I reckon there's three things.

- loyalty, you won't find many chelsea supporters in the press slagging terry. likewise arsenal supporters and Wilshire, Liverpool supporters slagging Suarez.
- money, terry spends a huge amount on his own PR. usually to cover up just how much of a that he is.
- fear, press don't like the consequences of getting on the wrong side of terry. Ferguson is a master of managing the press in this way.

As much as you might not like it, Liverpool don't manage the press well (either do City for that matter) and haven't done for some time. I also wouldn't rule out revenge as a fourth factor. Suarez has seriously pissed off a lot of people in the press. and when you're pissed off with someone you're less inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

This has nothing to do with PR teams - this is a newspapers editors/journos deciding how they want to word a certain headline and article to serve the sheep out there who follow the majority opinion no matter how uneducated and flawed it may be. U admitted it yourself with the Balotelli and Wilshere comparison.

Jut to clarify, this isn't a Liverpool issue for me, it's a "Johnny Foreigner" vs good old British lad issue. And it's as clear as day in both of our comparisons.

Why would there be this concerted effort to make Suarez look bad? Everyone already thinks he's scum, why when newspapers are struggling to survive would newspapers bother?
