Henderson is hugely overpriced and do we really need more central midfielders? We already have Lucas, Gerrard, Meireles, Shelvey and Spearing. We need width first and foremost, and a LB. We should try to sell J.Cole, Jovanovic, Konch and Poulsen to Spurs.

Man we are paying a lot for Henderson. I don't mind the signing, regardless of position, simply because it's nice to add quality to all areas, but my concern about his signing and Caroll's is that now teams may acknowledge we are desperate and have money and continue to overprice us. Bit like what teams did to City but to a smaller degree.

Long term Gerrard replacement I reckon, doesnt get onto the park that often nowadays. This isn't a knock on Spearing, but if hes close to starting 11, or first replacement in CM, we're not gonna win titles, it can't hurt to have quality replacements and depth, thats all.

But yes still massively overpriced, and I would be quite annoyed should we sign Charlie Adam too. That would truly be way too many CMs, perhaps Kenny wants to play Gerrard on the right?? Meireles/Lucas/Henderson would be healthy for competition in the midfield, with Spearing right behind, add to that Shelvey, another hopeful star, and Id say we are set long term. Don't know where therell be room for Xabi should he come back

But yes, Downing, even a decent quality striker wouldn't go astray with Ngog being part of the Henderson deal, And Enrique, and id say were in good shape, chuck a few more youngins like Phil Jones if we still got cash left and Im excited for 11/12

The 8 midfielders named doesn't seem excessive, although it seems fairly strong on central midfielders and only one real quality winger.

If the Henderson deal is in fact 13m plus N'Gog, which is what the most recent reports are saying, I actually reckon that's a pretty good deal for us. Nowhere near as bad as 20m cash. No way N'Gog is worth 7m, we may have actually done quite well for ourselves here

That is until N'Gog becomes the next Darren Bent.

TBH, I would only pay 10m at absolute maximum for Henderson. He's really not that good.

Yes, that's why Sir Alex tried to sign him and Man City were after him. Just because Spurs didn't attempt to sign him doesn't mean he isn't a quality player mate. You are as delusional as United expecting to pay 20 mill for Modric if you think that Sunderland will sell one of the hottest young prospects in England for 10 million.

Your stupidity knows no limits. Most decent teams in England have between 6-8 decent quality midfielders. 25 man squad = 3 Keepers, 8 defenders, 8 midfielders and four strikers plus 2 spots for youngsters.

Then again it doesn't surprise me that your grasp of mathematics is appallingly poor.

Serious question, what would your personal lineup for a 4-5-1 be with all those players? Spearing, Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez Adam, Maxi, Kuyt, Downing, Henderson and Meireles, bit too much to choose from eh?.

For starters, Kuyt won't be used as a winger anymore. Since King Kenny took over he has mainly played up front.

When playing 4-5-1 I would have Suarez playing wide right, Downing playing wide left, either Henderson or Lucas playing deep and Meireles / Gerrard playing through the middle, with Gerrard right up behind Carroll.

Leaving Henderson or Lucas on the bench with Adam, Spearing and Maxi. Works out quite nicely IMO.

This is my ideal 25 man squad for next season (dependent upon successful transfers obviously)

CMF: Meireles
CMF: Adam

CF: Kuyt
CF: New forward to be signed.

Sell Joe Cole, Glen Johnson (I believe Spurs were quite keen on him, I'd like to keep him but really we do not need him with Kelly emerging and Robinson looking promising) Poulsen, Jovanovic, Aquilani, Kyriagkos, Ngog (already gone)

Now don't go quoting me saying that's who I expect us to sign, that's who I would like us to sign, within a reasonable budget. The only real weakness that we would have is a tough tackling DMF, Mascherano style.
