We should just take the hit on Aquilani and sell him for the 10 million that Juve are offering, even though they had already agreed a fee with us on the basis of them being happy with him (he was their player of the season , go figure). To piss us off even more they have put in an offer for Raul Meireles that is laughably inadequate, 13.5 million plus Melo. We should not sell Raul at any price one of the very best CM's around. I'd prefer him to Modric.

I know you're totally delusional and all, but really...

Also, you don't quite seem to understand the rumor. Kenny seems to have realized he bought too many CMs and he decided the one he's going to flog off is Raul Meireles.

The clearout needs to begin with those already mentioned being sold.

Insua is a tricky one though, personally I would keep him at Liverpool. He is young and is only going to improve and has already played close to a whole season in our first team, surely we could keep him even if he was to come off the bench.

That's amusing. He had a great season for us, is very good but is 28. Modric is the far superior player. Not sure if we should sell Meireles though. Still rumours we are close on Adam. Poulsen and Aqua need to be shipped off. Raul may be sacrificed too if Adam comes in.

Would you think Aquilani might end up staying around next season if Meireles is moved on? Would that be the worst thing, is Meireles that much better than Aquilani?

I actually somewhat agree with WC2022, I think Meireles is important and valuable to any side but a limited CM and not the ideal age to continue building a side around. Hence why I think we're considering bids for him. He has a great engine and fits into our style well, plays the big games and knows where the goals are. Really can't say who we'll have in a months time but I know Modric is much better than Aqua and Raul.

I think if Adam does come in, then the idea is to move Miereles and Aqua on. We would need to raise some sort of funds and we could probably get 20-30 million for the two of them. Another sellable asset that could go will be Glen Johnson.

Agreed. Plus our depth in midfield will come in handy when playing 4-5-1. Replacing Aqua and Poulsen with Henderson & Adam can only be positive. Plus Shelvey will get valuable first team experience on loan at Blackpool next season.

In other news Arsenal are interested in Mata but only if Barca agree to pay what Arsenal want for Cesc and will then offer Valencia 18 mill. With Commoli/Benitez's contacts (Benitez is well liked at both Valencia & us) hopefully we can get the deal done right away at 20 million odd before Arsenal get their foot in the door.

They actually complement each other well. Raul is a box to box midfielder whilst Adam is more of a playmaker in the middle of the park. Of course Adam's free kicks / corners will prove invaluable.

Out of the two, Meireles is definitely the better player although I believe both can fit in well to our squad.

Suarez can play lone striker no problem, already proven he can.

We should be focusing on problems such as wing, left back and centre back yet we're wasting time on pointless shit like selling Meireles and bringing in CM's or strikers.

We wont make top 4 with the current squad.

Hey Guys,

As an avid Liverpool fan, and a huge interest in a career in Journalism, I have set up my very own blog discussing news and issues about the great Liverpool Football Club. I have been updating it on a regular basis and will continue to throughout the Summer Transfer Window and beyond into the 2011/2012 EPL Season.

If you have got any feedback, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy it

Completely agree on CB, LB & Wings. I am not advocating buying a striker at the expense of strengthening other areas, I just think that we need more then Kuyt/Carroll/Suarez up front. I think Suarez is better suited as a wide player who drifts in / supplying crosses for big Andy C to put away. And if we sell Meireles, I think that's just plain stupid unless someone offers stupid money for him (and it has to be someone from outside the EPL).

Would you be happy if we bought Enrique, Gary Cahill, Downing, Adam & Wickham into the squad? I'd be over the moon if we did.

There's now talk Danny Wilson will be the player offered on loan to Blackpool for part of the Adam deal.

I'd hope that Shelvey could go there too, with our midfield being strong the young lad won't get any game time this season. Doing a full season at Blackpool would toughen him up and do the young lad wonders IMO.

For sure. He will be a good player, potential to be more but a full season of first team in the championship would do wonders. If not there would be teams in the EPL that he should get an automatic start in, there is no benefit in us keeping him battling on the bench against more seasoned mids, except for the whole getting to know the team better and game plan(which could change anyway).

With Clichy going to City, will be interesting to see what we do with the Left Back position. Whether we end up buying, or leaving it to our current list.

I've done a bit of a run through of the players capable of playing Left Back in the latest post in the blog.

Kelly was great on the right so I don't really have that big of a problem with Johnson on the left in our best team, prefer it than overpaying for someone who may not do any better. That being said we still need to at least sign a promising younger player who could backup and potentially take over the roll in the coming seasons. Who that should be? I don't know but it's not a position I think we should be wasting money on just for the purpose of getting a player. Happy to see Insua given a look in too.
