Fabinho was great however I hope that doesn’t stop us getting a 4th choice CB. We still need what Fabinho can bring in midfield and our 2nd and 3rd choice are injury prone .. if either fab or vvd were injured today what would we have done ??

Also need to give vvd a rest for once in lesser fixtures ! Hope we still pull the trigger on a CB
 
Thiago's introduction at halftime, certainly provided more energy to our players, our forwards in particular. They were noticeably more up and about. Just goes to show how how a new player refreshes the attitude of the team. More of that please.

That would have applied to Fabinho as well, as he was very impressive. I would be retaining him at CB against Arsenal,irrespective of whether Gomez is fit to play, although i suppose it may depend on whether Hendo is fit to play and if Thiago is not quite ready to play a full match.
Not sure i would like to see Thiago play against Lincoln though.

Also how about this from Frankie boy's post match interview?
If it had not been for the red card, if Kepa had not made a mistake and if we had scored from our penalty, we would have drawn the game.

At this stage Phillips would have played at CB or possibly Hendo if Fab or VVD were unavailable. Not ideal, another CB is a must IMO.

We can't rely on Matip. His lack of availability is a real worry.

I think because Chelsea's hand was forced the second half was a good case study for how we'd set up against teams that will sit back and let us win possession. Fabinho is kind of unnecessary there as the dynamic protector, Thiago adds that other dimension going forward. It's gonna be hard to defend those diagonal balls from Thiago in the middle while stretching to defend the fullbacks who were playing very high up.
 
Is the League Cup game on TV here? Hope so, so many players I still want to watch.

That's a nice 3 points in the bank early doors. Thiago will have greater tests but pretty clear he is going to be a good player for us after 45 minutes.

Fabinho was awesome - but do we still need some more cover there given Gomez/Matip are so unreliable?

Once they went a man down we did the job professionally.
Could have been much worse IMO but could have easily have been 4 or 5.

Almost like Juurgen smelt blood at HT and introduced Thiago for the quick kill.

Not ideal having fab at centrback though our team is good enough to do the job. United went through patches when they were playing mids at cb and they still got the job done. We should be able too.

No one really understands Scouse, everyone just pretends. What the hell is an antwacky?

Whenever Joel's injured, he's injured for a long time. We're effectively running with 2 genuine CBs for half a season

Would start Thiago against Lincoln and give him 60 mins, then start him again against Arsenal. We'll need him, they'll play 5 in the back and park it like they did the last two games with a lot of success

If Fabinho puts in a shift at CB every game like he did against Chelsea then he is maybe a better CB than Gomez and Matip anyway.
