Sarah probably wouldn't mind me cleaning my shotgun at the kitchen table after a hard days hunting, not to sure about Lundy........................

I could convince Kate that she would be better informed on this issue by experiencing firsthand a certain performance enhancing aid that I'd be willing to take.

Rohypnol?

This, not to mention she cant seem to come to grips with the difference between the three strikes drug policy and the use of PED's. Nice little subtle/stupid attempted troll at AFL.

Yep. Article list all credibility when she either didn't know the difference or deliberately deceived readers. Either way, a ******* of the highest order.

I'm leaning towards two possible reasons.

1. They have suspicions that stuff is going on but no real idea and are hoping to scare someone into coming forward. The hail mary!!

2. They have a very good idea of what's going on but nothing that will stand up in court or will allow agencies to ban athletes. They have the suspects under survellence and are hoping that they'll incriminate themselves in response to this report.

If they had "all their ducks in a row" they would have just prosecuted whoever. It will be very embarrassing for their agencies if nothing comes of this.

If it was a beat up the fall out would be massive. You can lie to us, waste our money, go to war on false evidence but if you **** with our teams all bets are off!

Who would have prosecuted who for what?

Are the powers to be in a position where they know- that most clubs are spending more time and money each year on technology (drugs/supplements,science etc) that are not technically illegal- but skate closer and closer to the edge or actually go over it and that the government agencies either know nothing about them or do not have specific legislation to prevent there use? Could this be one big fact finding mission of the government drug and sports agencies to try to find a 'ground zero' of what is actually out there?

Lance Armstrong virtually got away with murder because he had the scientists on his side to prevent detection, that after 10 years they still can't find in his stored blood samples what he was actually on! The full might of USA and European doping agencies couldn't catch him........................... Where does that leave the Australian agencies?

I've always tried to avoid ad hominem attacks, but in the case of this "journalist" I can't help myself. This is the person who was the life partner of John Hartigan, of News Ltd. and yet never disclosed this for years even though she was writing daily about the NRL. In fact they must have gone to some effort to keep it quiet: in his position, he would have attended many social functions of the NRL - functions to which he would be expected to take his wife/partner. The fact that they didn't is clear evidence to me that they knew it was an outrageous conflict of interest. When she appeared on Offsiders after the Melbourne Storm scandal hit the news, she was made to look a right fool. I don't think she's been back since?

To put it as succinctly as I can - I wouldn't wipe my arse with her articles.

No doubt she is definitely against the big bad AFL, but I think at times today her article was ok.

Still needs to tone down the hysteria, motherly aspect to her reporting that's for sure.

Right now there are 150 scab journo's writing furiously and constantly submitting columns trying for a new angle on the same thing with the same info that will hopefully get printed. The papers after thorough vetting thru their legal dept will choose whateva they think might help make a buck...but nobody has any new information to go off so its simply a time honoured tradition that is being followed....without any new info these things will always rapidly head toward a period of frustration.

Its not the responsibility of relevant authorities to provide people with enough information to satisfy their need. They follow a process to an end point. If things break into the public eye earlier than hoped that doesnt mean they need to filter out tit bits just to keep journo's happy or provide us with threadworthy shock horror entertainment.

Get used to it...the shit starting to pour from both the NRL and AFL is just normal frustration borne out of lack of information...ex-coaches and ex-players wanting attention due to tv/radio commitments, media **** wannabe personalities and hopeful experts, fringe journo's etc etc etc...they're all foaming due to the same lack of information and it will always trend toward "backlash" toward authorities coz they havent been provided with specifics yet, or a name or two to point a finger at.

Nothing more boring than a process...and that always sparks frustration and countless throw away articles and pebble throwing till more info is available. Has only been a very short time and could get nothing more for months...best get used to the frustration coz they cant name anyone or a club without finalising their case.

It will take months to get anyone charged with anything, and maybe years for court cases, tribunals, appeals and convictions. Remeber they have only just handed the information over to the 'local authorities'.

At this point in time- and until someone in an official capactity actually names the names and charges are laid- we are all like mushrooms- kept in the dark and fed on bullshit! The bullshit which is the rehashed speculation, rumours, 'reliable information' from 'reliables sources, that the media put up every day to sell.

Had a good chuckle at this too. Jut an excuse to take another thinly veiled swipe at the AFL. The woman is a waste of oxygen.

I'm not a big supporter of Rebecca Wilsons rants most of the time, but occasionally she comes up with a good one, point in case this one.

No names, no dates, no clubs, no charges, no specific cases- just 'come forward and spill your guts or we might get you when someone else does before you' mentality from a couple of ministers looking to get their mugs on the TV screen for good press, regardless of the price every sporting code, club, sportsmen or sports fan in the country will pay.

Total hit job orchestrated by some spin doctor sitting in a pollies office in Canberra, and we pay the price?

well, Carolyn Wilson too, on the Offsiders was spouting cr@p. Integrity Office? Send the girl a copy of 1984. Betting handled well? Show her the gaol room of the pakistani bowlers and compare it to nathan bocks lakeside villa. just cos bock was not 100% assured of kicking that 55 metre 45 degrees goal, does not mean that was not exotic bet spot fixing carolyn ;) because it was. It was against team rules, and the only reason he played like that was cos he told him mom and mates to take him on the 85-1 odds for first goal. he changed his behaviour = spot fixing.

no creating these licensed gambling operators, you do not create this market. let flemington and spring carnival take this country's gambling dollar adrian anderson and colin carter at boston consulting bloody nuff nuffs.

Not to mention her subtle slamming of everything AFL. By adding NRL doesn't come out of this unscathed, but not really taking this any further, speaks volumes.

John "Sly of the Underworld" Sylvester is one of the best crime reporters in this country, and he rates the AFL's policies on drugs as the best of any sporting code in Australia. He's not saying they are / were perfect.

If I was an Essendon supporter like the OP I wouldn't be relying on or quoting anything Rebecca "my agenda is to do anything to denigrate the AFL" Wilson says

Ding ding we have a winner here

Would not be relying on Rebecca Wilsons missives in trying to win an argument

I believe on league unlimited they refer to her as bourbon bec given her pendant for hypocrisy

.......

Sounds a lot like the early presser for the NSW Police corruption Royal Commission and the opening statement by Justice James Wood.

Short memory Rebecca, short memory. Over the next few months you will have plenty to write about just like in 1995 and 1996 and even 1997.
