Trying far too hard, very little has been humourous and I've winced on more than one occasion. The kids on the fence thing was painful.

i dont mind it , obviously trying to go for the laid back style of before the game. only thing is hellier is the only person thats actually funny though. Not as bad as i thought it would be.

The basic structure is not without promise but the execution is so far lacking. First show, give it time.

Needs far more of Catherine Ellis. And, I'm afraid, a lot less of Helliar. He's no Micallef.

Everyone's nervous. I'm willing to give it a few weeks. Hellier's holding it up at the moment but the unprofessional cast around him is pulling down his performance. Richo is doing better then I expected as well.

Honestly for a "live" studio audience variety show it was good for its first episode, it takes time for a cast to be able to work out the kinks and gel.

Just look at Top Gear, it was pretty shit when it first started.

Ugh, that was horrendous. I think eBloke's estimate was conservative; it will be lucky to make it to next week. Lame, unfunny segments that may have appeared funny on paper but died tonight. All this stitched together with jokes everyone has already told their mates throughout the preseason, one ripped from an old episode of the Simpsons and a few I believe I've seen on Bigfooty.

The canned laughter presented over a static and clearly bored audience just made me feel embarrassed for all involved. Richo is a great fit for a panel based show though. I suggest he keep close relations with the producers at Nine and we'll eventually see him regularly on the Footy Show, a far more enjoyable program.

I don't dislike Peter Helliar but his poorly written mockumentaries are becoming cringingly worse. I swear he wants to be Australia's answer to Ricky Gervais but lacks the humour, creativity and talent. At least we didn't have to suffer through more Strauchanie skits. The best moment was the Sidebottom sting but candid camera is hardly revolutionary television and just bearable when surrounded by the rest of the show's garbage.

In conclusion a mess: Leigh's knowledge going to waste, Less laughs than the Footy Show and Before the Game without the benefit of an established audience or being played prior to a match. Axe this show Seven, and while you're at it move Better Homes and Gardens forward an hour, delayed broadcasts suck.

Literally turned it off after 3 minutes, but then tuned back when i realized there wasn't anything to watch on the other channels.

One positive..............it can only get better, but probably not with Helliar running the show

WTF was going on with that Essendon chick that did the quiz? Don't answer the question if you are just going to make a fool of yourself.
The show was ordinary. Would have to hear reports of some massive improvements to give it another shot.

The footy show died a slow and very painful death (for those silly enough to watch it) about 7-8 years ago and it has never recovered.
But you are right this show was crap and they need to talk a bit more footy a few more interviews and far less of the unfunny embarrassining skits.
Quite sad really that this ever made it to our screens

It may be juvenile, it may fly through the games sometimes as if they were something of an inconvenience and may seem to be dying a "painful death" but unlike the bounce I can still enjoy it on some level.
