with all this May and Melksham nonsense, I've had a quick look at our list and I'm struggling to find someone that would be stupid enough to punch on with a member of the public or worse still with a team mate. I dont know the players from a bar of soap, but none strike me as a dick head. good on the club for presumably taking that into consideration when recruiting.

edit: maybe charlie would depending on circumstances, but he is far from a steven may

I was actually thinking about the same thing when we were playing Richmond. If my hypothetical daughter brought home a Richmond player to dinner I would be concerned (without having a team bias) but our players all seem nice and respectable.

It’s just that they were harder and more gritty than us. They did they unsavoury bumps and niggles and I think it went a way for them winning the game.

There's something in footy that has teams less celebrated if they don't behave like campaigners on the footy field; people think they're less likely to be successful, despite their campaigneriness really being the reason why they win games of footy. Richmond beat us - ostensibly - because they kicked straight; that's really about it. They also beat us round the ball by dominating the ruck and knocking the ball clear of our tight inside mids. The game was also wet, which suits their territory game more than our handpassing to clean space. We're also missing around half our best 22, including our best all conditions mid in Cerra; the rest of our mids are workers and powerful, not clean.

There are plenty of reasons why they won the game, the niggle doesn't really get involved. So, my question is, why do people continue to make the same mistake watching the game?

Is it the thread of practical running through the backbone of footy watchers; that bit of satisfaction that we all get when we see someone who wants it more win the ball? Is it the wish to pull down the tall poppy, drag them down to our level and make them crawl in the dirt instead of playing clean footy? Is it something that is inherently Australian, that (cue politics, so self-censoring)?

I don't agree with you at all the reason why they won had anything to do with their niggle. Their niggle made it more annoying - and someone should absolutely line Bolton up first thing the next time we play them, and knock his head off within the first 5 minutes - but it's not at all the reason why they won and we lost.

How many shots at goal do you burn before you start to blame yourself for the loss rather then them for the win?

Love Joey’s opinion on Blues Defence 360
What did he have to say? I found his take pre-Richmond game interesting... Essentially tipped a comfortable loss for us but didn't suggest it was in any way indicative of our prospects as the year unfolds, just that we are currently completely hamstrung by injury and are playing well in spite of it.

That We’re actually holding up pretty well, considering. A bit of flooding, but the boys down there, doing their jobs. Also said that because of having to flood, it’s hurting us when we turn it over, cos We got nobody to kick it to going forward. Said Our Midfield has to take control and get it forward in the first place. Nothing We all don’t already know, but good to hear from an expert, anyway.

I’d consider Cox as a relatively cheap ruck/forward option….come at me now

If he wasn't 31 I'd go down that path but we can get similar or better that are younger.

It would only be needed for a couple of years, Until Mirkov is actually ready.

To me, Coxs age is perfect as a need for short term. Medium-long term we are covered. As a relatively cheap and versatile position of need

Delist Casboult then trade in Cox? Unlikely. Besides, he is a terrible footballer. He has one skill, being tall and not uncoordinated

These numerous byes in the VFL are really starting to piss me off, Pitto ready for conditioning in the VFL but yet another ******* bye.

It’s bloody ridiculous, absolutely zero need for so many

That was last years list management decision, look forward not back.

Hindsight suggests a line ball decision that we got wrong, however, without our injury list of talls he wouldn’t have got a game so you make the call and stick by it.

You look to rectify the position in this years trade and draft market

Actually it was Robbo who said we were flooding. Joey was at pains to say it was system play...really good system play.
