Let's listen to the man himself on talls. You can now call the Ken hotline on 1800-KENS-TEAM

Ken here, now I know some of you are obsessed with three talls, so here are some words and phrases that rhyme with tall.
Small
Stall
Forestall
Once and for all
Not all all
Make my flesh crawl
Look small

Tredders on MMM just said he thinks Mitch Harvey could get a game this year! Tredders thinks his improvement through this season has been immense. Reckons he will be the one to grab the vacant third tall forward spot in the future. Sounds like Tredders has had a bit to do with him at training judging by his comments.

The only way I can see Harvey getting a game this year is if Schulz, Westhoff, Shaw, Butcher, Lobbe, P Stewart & Trengove are all injured.

Butch, Harvey and Shaw one goal apiece today, early in the second quarter.
I think Butcher was used in the ruck, Butcher went out of bounds on the full from 40 metres, Shaw a point from 25 metres (on an angle). Amon impresses again, not many touches, but 4 goals and seems to cover ground (at 181 cms, likely to replace Westhoff soon), second best behind Stewart.

Probably true. Maybe Tredders was getting a bit excited. Harvey does look better but still a long way to go. The missed mark in defence in the last quarter was a game killer.

I can't see how/why Harvey would be played this year. Yes he is developing nicely and is unarguably a keeper. But if I were a betting man I'd be looking at 2016 for an AFL debut.

Was Hinkley coach then?

Is that relevant? The point I was making is that Butcher's development may be better served by being given more AFL time.

Yeah no. Guaranteed spots, particularly when undeserved, are the absolute pinnacle of gold pass.

Your "undeserved" comment is subjective. Apart from his goal kicking yips his form line has read pretty well.

Surely Tredders must have been talking about Shaw not Harvey?

Harvey. Jarman started it and Tredders ran with it. Harvey was the best of the three tall forwards today although none of them pushed their names forward with any great conviction.

Good point re Harvs and that missed mark ( which another person in our area made special mention of ), but there was a positive, to go with the negatives.

The positive was he took the centre bouncedown, lost out, but kept running towards the chook's goal.
The negatives were if he had kept going he probably would have marked the ball, but he took his eyes off it to see who was in the vicinity which created enough confusion among his team mates for north to capitalise.

There were plenty of game killers in the last qtr in particular though, numerous Maggies wasted the ball time and time again, Butch lead to space 3 or 4 times, in the scoreboard pocket with what looked to be good enough kicks for him to take advantage, but he propped when the ball was within a few metres, allowing his opponent to get the drop on him, and there wasn't one crumber there for any of those marking attempts ( coaching? ) because he is seldom outmarked in one on one situations.

The crucial miss from what appeared to be no more than about 15 metres at a very crucial stage of the last qtr, after he was set up with close to the perfect handball for the situation we have all seen before, but this time he also had plenty of mates who couldn't cope with what north brought to the table today.

In my humble opinion none of the Power listed talls are within a bull's roar of AFL action, and not just the three forwards, on today's effort unfortunately, Tom Clurey could be placed in that category as well.

harvey is a little way off, just needs to impose himself on the game a little more, when he realises how big he is an his body fills out more he will be a huge part of our team going forward, one thing i think is for sure, he is the best set shot i think ive seen, including our resident sharp shooter schulzy. harvey has the sweetest set shot on him, anything inside (or even just outside) fifty, straight over the goal umpires hat, perfect technique.

Mitch is definitely a wonderful set shot for goal and hopefully will be a fine forward for us over the next decade. He has been impressive for a first year key forward.

There's some of Tim Evans in Harvey's kicking, probably an even longer kick and still accurate.

He's been unlucky having to do a lot of ruckwork this year and hence dragged out of the forward line. On the other hand it's adding strings to his bow. This approach served Brendon Lade well in his apprenticeship at South.

all he needs is number 5 on his back and stick him the goal square. sooner the better.
