I suppose it is not known what is the 'trigger' for the 2020 part of Richardsons contract?

As in we know 2019 is locked in but the following year will be performance based.
Perhaps a number of wins or qualification of finals, you'd doubt he'd be hitting that mark anyway.

Can start a new thread for this if you like George. Strong word is Summers is stepping down end of the year. Richo will lose his biggest supporter. Feel the dominos will fall now.

Personally I’m stoked he’s on the out - some of the deluded thoughts he still had about the club, we were never going to see change.

It could possibly be Stjonesy that there's no one avail at the moment who they believe is better than Richo.

I'd be very surprised if possible replacement coaches haven't already been looked at.
I don't buy that

If we sack richo next year we end up with the same result. Going with an untried coach.

At some point you have to take a risk.

How would we know if there is anything better out there? Based on outside perception?

It has nothing to do with the pay out. It has nothing to do with there not being anyone else available. It has nothing to do with there not being a better candidate.

It is solely because the board, summers and Finnis do not want to publicly conceede they made a horrendous mistake.

That's it.

Don’t wish to intrude and Richardson may not be the answer, but I heard lethlean and wondered what makes him the 3xpert, and he will decide who is the best person going forward, and from what he has seen.

Has he ever played or coached a game? Or is he jus5 interested in junior staffers?

Spot on

I just saved 45 bucks a month on my foxtel bill but telling them theyre dickheads
Will stay on as a member
Reckon next year is going to be riot time tho
I think its going to get ugly
I am going to cancel it too. I am going to tell them that I don't approve of them offering SkyNews a platform for their racist ultra right wing political views but really its just because of the footy.

spare me your faux outrage. coming from a tigers supporter that sure is cheap

do you know who the vice patron is of YOUR football club?

i tell you who isn't the vice patron of MY football club. someone who supported the institutionalized abuse of children.

i can sit here feeling comfortable knowing my club does not support pedophiles. can richmond supporters do the same? yeah didn't think so.

some things are more important than football.

How could there be no one better!!!???
There would be better coaches out there....whether any are avail or if they are.....would they want to come to us....we just don't know that or whether the club has made enquiries with potentials.

With you 100% re Richo.

just out of curiosity how would you feel if the potential replacment for Richo is brought in as an assistant then ?
i get what you are saying that whoever we apoint next is most likely an unknown so theres no point in waiting to pull the trigger but what if we have a guy in mind but are for lack of a better word trialling him as an assistant first ?

i dont think its that at all ...
i think the club realises there are more then just one problem in the club ... the coach is an issue but so were the lack of support put around that coach, so is the list built for the coach to lead....
knowing Peter Summers for some time now i can tell you he has no issue admitting when he and the club have stuffed up .. what you are implying is that he is being pig headed - thats not a trait ive noticed ever from Peter ... it may well be Richo isnt the man to lead us but i reckon due to the fact he is contracted its worth seeing if its him personally that is failing or if its the systems around him making him fail ... i dont think the fact the club would have to admit signing him was a mistake comes into it at all ....
heck even you were initially for signing him at the time ... https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/should-we-extend-alan-richardsons-contract.1173507/

Circus....who was Caro nominating as a possible replacement to Prez?
Sorry for the delay in replying Saint Watto. Caro claimed that a current Board member (she named him but I've forgotten who) is lobbying other Board members, apparently with some support, for bloke called Watts to replace our current Pres.

Watts was apparently a previous Board member who has also worked for the AFL. Watts is interested but will not be part of a coup.

She alleged that Summers (Sommers?) doesn't seem to quite "get it" at present but is expected to given time. Interestingly Caro also mentioned that nearly everyone at Moorabbin is "nice"!

My question to you Saint Watto is this - are you the mysterious Mr Watts???

Interesting post there Circus...…….I think from memory... Watts was CEO there for a while …..may need a fact check on that......we did draft his son Fergus at one point...…

Caro is normally on the money......interesting that her opinion is that Summers "doesn't quite get it"

Interesting times to put it mildly.

Am I the mysterious Mr Watts...here's a clue...."I'd make a great Prez…...and our senior coach doesn't cut it....along with our Football dept systems....out he goes!

Three things.

1. To those saying, "You're not being a member because of just one man?!" No, it's that keeping on this one man represents or indicates wider, deeper systemic problems in the club. They can't fix a problem that they refuse to acknowledge.

2. I get the "But we need all the members we can to survive!" argument. But, in any venture, resources are not enough, it's also about proper and effective use of those resources. Members are a resource. We could have 100,000 members right now, but if there are wider, deeper systemic issues in the club, all those members won't make much difference. The club must show they are competent enough to warrant supporters' investment.

3. Those lamenting that some are not becoming members right now, have to realise: we aren't enjoying doing so. This is not at all what we want. If, by some miracle, we turn it around over spring and summer, and win in the first month or so of 2019, I'll gleefully eat humble pie, and sign up again. Hell, I've got until August. The thing is, I doubt they will, until those wider, deeper systemic problems are dealt with... and that starts with sacking Retcho.
All that is fine, and I have no problem.

My only caveat is that those who do this, don't come back when we turn it around.
Personally, I think it is as weak as piss, but our you are going to do it, do it for good.
Maybe even go and support a different team. That's not being aggressive, but once you jump off, you shouldn't jump back on.

My opinion only and not a go at anyone.

Yep, Caro can be quite annoying but sometimes is a fair way ahead of the pack. Way back she wrote a couple of articles during the summer off-season about the culture of a very powerful successful team, without naming the club or individuals. Within a year the whole Eagles drug saga was common knowledge.

It seemed that she had been talking to a few Saints people who know exactly what the problems are and what options are available to rebuild both club and team.

I suspect heavy breathing from the AFL forms part of the background noise. Why wouldn't it?

Fergus and Jim have some interesting AFL connections.

From the tone of this article maybe we should be looking at Fergus not Jim.

So you are accusing the President and board who are mainly club people of deliberately throwing the club under a bus so as to protect their egos?
