I watched the interview and the thing that annoyed me the most was the doubling down on "working hard" or whatever he says, and that we "trying to play a new way and that takes time". What a load of crap. Does anyone actually see this "new way"? If the new way is playing guys out of position and confusing the group on what the plan is, sure it looks like it's working.

Some people seem to think the assistants work independently of Goody rather than he tells them what the **** to do

Bringing our biggest bomb inside 50 player of the century in Nathan Jones to come in and coach our midfield was one of the dumbest things Goodie has done.

Wouldn’t surprise me if his next move was to bring in Brent Maloney to coach our defenders and Oscar McDonald to coach the forwards. Hell, why not bring back Dean Terlich to be our game day tactician.

And wtf does Choco do, what’s his actual job/role. Is he just another Goodie mentor eating our soft cap like he has always needed (Roos/Neil/Richo/Mcartney ect). Cant Goodie just do the job on his own for once.

It felt like we attacked the game against GWS. No idea what the stats say and it was wet, but live it felt like we were trying to attack more. It was a pretty decent game tbh. But we've had multiple years to come up with a more attacking game style, and games like last week against the Kangas are becoming more and more frequent now. The Freo game last year another example of just completely being blown away. I just don't think we have the list or the coach to change styles. Our list is all over the place and the coach simply is at a loss to know how to change it. Chris Scott was able to turn their style around after getting wiped in 21. Granted they had a much more dynamic forward half, but a very vanilla midfield. I'm expecting this group to fall apart tbh.

Not sure what those wanting him to get sacked are hoping to achieve, not like Jones, Choco, Basset or Chaplin will do any better as care takers. Probably will just destroy any future coaching aspirations they may have as well in the process.

If we are at the point where the club are considering sacking him the year is a write off so who cares. Speaking on my own behalf I just want the Goodwin era over with ASAP. Every week hes coach is another week too long, the club cant move forward til hes gone so get on with it.

I think when he goes, so does a stack of senior players. Usually happens, but won’t be the worst if we can turn it around into a list rebuild.

If we can’t we can enjoy 6-8 years on the bottom with Tassie coming in soon to drink up the young talent.

Chaplin might be ok. He's been the best line coach we've had for a long time. Realise he's not getting sacked anytime soon. But a loss to the Suns might make it impossible for the board to ignore and bring even more heat from.the media I guess. We're hitting another young team on the rise. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Another poor loss to a and surely make the board see the list and coach are cooked.

There's no chance he gets sacked anytime soon. We're already rebuilding on the run which means we still have faith that he's the guy to do it. What were the club's objectives this year? I feel like they've already been scaled back which means the pressure is less internally.

Actually the more I think of it the more I'm certain there's no chance we sack him, the club's a ****ing mess off field, we have a nuffy temp president and no CEO. No ****ing chance we start the search for a coach without those guys in place

Thanks for taking hit for the team.
I honestly can't listen to him talk anymore. It's infuriating. We hear the same washed up excuses just spoken in a different way ech week/year. Most interviews no matter how big or small is just the same scripted garbage these days. Once the old boys like Sheedy and Malthouse/Pagan etc went away, it all became far too sterilised and scripted. That's why Kane Cornes, even though he's a knob, is at least interesting because he only partly shackled unlike all the other media performers/coaches/players who are scared to lose their jobs.

We can't even get any potential CEO's to call us back. How the hell are we gonna land a decent coach who has any self worth? I'd love a Longmire or Buckley, but i just can't see them wanting to come.

Oh I agree and that is to be expected. My biggest concern is they are conducting the CEO search looking for someone who thinks Goody is the answer/wont rock the boat instead of a hiring the best person and letting them make whatever changes they want. And with candidates dropping out its every possibility that is exactly the case.

Thata my fear too but if this year goes bad they won't be able to ignore the membership and attendance dropoff.

They'll just make a video blaming us again

Yeah good chance the job interview is Green in a duffle coat asking questions like
How many years would you sign Goodwin on for
A. 3
B. 4
C. Hand him the contract to fill in

Who's your favourite Oliver Trac or Vines

A. Oliver
B. Trac
C. Viney
D. All of them ❤️

According to Caro Steve Smith had a look at the boards list of candidates and like a school teacher said "Not good enough try again."

That alone gives me some hope.

Maybe so, but what if thats the best they can do and any quality potential CEO's are so put off by us that'll they never get a good enough list together. Gotta appoint someone eventually.

I feel like when clubs have an admin shake up they often get a bit like this? Like Collingwood had the threat of a member lead board challenge in 2021 when they were having problems and the incumbents and Jeff Browne were at war. Hawks a couple years back had Kennett and Don Scott publicly fighting with the new admin. Honestly it feels like there's a bit of a lack of imagination from the board if most of our targets are sitting executives at other clubs. I'm not surprised we can't poach anyone.

I reckon the main concern for a lot of potential CEOs would be that they don't want to be blamed for Caufield not getting up. I'll put myself as a wait-and-see on this. Not unlike Caro to make things sound way worse than they are. If it takes another 6 months to find the right CEO then so be it. It's an important role they should be taking their time.

Reality is that he won’t be sacked until Smith comes in as president. Also probably not until we get a CEO in the role.

Interestingly cameras are following Goodwin around this year for a doco. Would be interesting viewing if he’s sacked mid season.

Imagine how boring that doco would be 😂
