To suggest France are in fact 'African Allstars' is moronic. If the players that represent France (or any other nation) consider themselves a part of that nation, whether by birth, choice or history, then that should be enough. The only ones who think differently are far too obsessed by blood, not by what's actually important.

And Frankster, you appear far too pleased to see this happen to English players- had it happened to Balotelli would have been acceptable?

Well hopefully france continues failing so they do bring that in, Some in France have said it.

My grandmother grew up in this little town in Belgium. 3 km further was this other little town, where my grandfather was from. When he started dating my grandmother, he was chased by guys from my grandmother's town. They said what he did wasn't right and that he should stay in his own little town and find a girl there.

Only people who are scared think like this. People who are scared that the world is bigger than their little comfort zone. People who are scared of competition or opportunities. People who are scared that their little secure life may change in some way.

Especially keep listening to those people.

Well yeah, they were Italians. They came over to do our dirty work and they were of inferior blood so what do you expect?

No you arent, Im telling that the french fa and people in france are saying.
Italians inferior blood to belgians? wow thats a new one..

I've posted on here before, I've personally experienced something like that only once in nearly ten years going to games over here. It was by a few lads, and they got shouted down by the rest of the crowd.

To suggest this is a "normal" thing in football is bollocks.

I think England has done a great job of eradicating this pathetic stuff from the game. In the late 80's early 90's it was definitely very prevalent. I remember the monkey chants at any black players or refs. The he's a wog chants. I was playing at a club over there and remember being called in for a meeting with all the players and being lectured on the fact the club was bringing in a black player ( i think the clubs first) and to make sure we didn't make fun of him etc. I just sat there open mouthed that the talk was even needed. It's great that this stuff doesn't happen in England anymore. Obviously parts of Europe still has some educating to do...

and seriously Frankster  some of your posts in this thread are cringeworthy.

There is a massive difference between racial perception in eastern and western Europe.

Yeah right, that's why every couple of years in France there are insane riots; that's why in Germany there are still Neo-Nazi gangs running around and stomping Turks in Frankfurt, and the same in England, the British National Party hoodlums.

Don't act like Western Europe is the beacon of civilisation for Europe or the world. Racism exists throughout Europe, not just the East and the South. And don't start with "racial perception", even if it happens 10 times less, that is still too much.

There is racism in every country. However most Western countries are at least moving in the right direction, some Eastern countries(not all) seem to be stuck in the early to mid 1900's.

The riots in France and the UK had nothing to do with race, but with social inequality. They were organised by a group/class of people who feel they are being disadvantaged, and yes, because of circumstances many of these people were of particular backgrounds. But turn back the clock far enough, and this same class of people consisted out of white Europeans. As long as this inequality is present, incidents like these will keep happening.

German neo-nazi's and BNP morons are active and loud, but they're very much in the minority. Most people condemn their behaviour. The words and actions of extremists are never a good indicator for what goes on in communities.

I'm not pretending as if western/northern Europe is the beacon of civilisation but it's a fact that we have been better educated about certain things. Like Boro said, when I was young I too heard monkey noises in Belgium but things have changed. People don't do it anymore because it's been heavily frowned upon by the majority.

If you don't think the racial perception between western and eastern Europeans is different, go look for an international forum discussion on the issue. As if the stuff we still see in stadiums today isn't yet enough.

Chelsea fans were singing the Adebayor song at the game (yes Tottenham fans used to sing it too). Many would regard that as racist too.

Where exactly is the racist bit in the song?

It's offensive no doubt though. Just don't see the racism and in fact I think you need to think like a racist to think of it in the first place.

Dad washes elephants, his mums a whore?

Shameful song, shameful who started it, shameful whose still running with it.

Let's be fair, England's got their fair share of racist chants as well, it's pretty much still there at most clubs.

Anyone remember Park's one at Man U?

The difference is though, that unlike in some other European countries, these aren't meant to racially denigrate the target, its really more to mock the player in question.
