Isn't it hilarious all these people bemoaning the demise of lazy footballers?Fas was a lazy campaigner.
Like Jack Watts going to Port, Fas will end up in the magoos because he has zero work rate.
What happened with his injection - anything specific - or was it just that his form went south following a particular injection, and his lack of form was consequently put down to this injection? Just curious.
Teams want guys they can build around not someone who is one injury away from never playing again.
Only on bigfooty would people defend a players laziness and poor ethic, deflecting from competitive business decisions by spouting 'state of the game' illuminati doomsday ideas.Isn't it hilarious all these people bemoaning the demise of lazy footballers?
Agree. He's very very good footballer still and has been free of ACL issues for a few years now. Just had other niggles, which is understandable after so many operations and so long off. He'll never be 100%, but he was clearly a best 22 player still.Obviously Menzel's not the player he wouldve been if not for the 4 knee reco's (noone would be) and its amazing he's come back and played nearly three seasons, albeit hampered with injury throughout. I assume its the fragility of his body that have clubs hesitant to take a chance on him. I'd definitely throw him a lifeline at the Dees, I think he can be a beautiful user of the ball. Confidence seems to have been down recently at Geelong and obviously he doesn't have the support of Scott or the coaches there. A new opportunity could see him flourish and be very valuable
IN: Rohan
OUT: Menzel
Menzel: wat?
Yep, Carlton's poor culture made Troy complacent!Nope. Troy was lazy just like his brother and going to Adelaide did nothing to change his career. Never developed the tank to be a midfielder and like Daniel wasn't capable of much more than kicking goals.
You'll understand why after next season!I don't really understand getting Dalhaus either...
That's exactly the point. Four 1 goal a game forwards who tackle a lot.Rioli - limited pre-season, one goal and four tackles per game.
Higgins - first year player.
Castagna - similar averages to Rioli.
Butler - see Rioli, Castagna.
Did you see the play where he ran fifty metres and tackled two players in that play disposing them of the ball twice? He was a legitimate liability in their final. He doesn’t chase, didn’t lead and was relying purely on the ball coming in quick off a turnover and therefore being in an advantageous position.
Sorry but I just don’t agree at all with this having to do with the state of the game. His injuries have made him a very one dimensional player. He can take marks and kick goals but if you put proper time into him he can be shut out of a game rather easily. He isn’t going to work hard to beat his man so he’s basically a passenger out there.
He basically plays like a lazy full forward except he doesn’t have the height or weight to be a constant problem. He’s flawed like numerous other footballers who get the chop. Don’t see anyone crying when some backmen gets the chop because he can’t intercept mark.
I agree that he’s talented but talent only gets you so far in any sport. Same with goals. Unless you’re kicking big bags a couple of goals a game barely has an impact compared to what other more rounded players can do.
He applied 0 offensive pressure. True reflection of the game shows these days you have to work both ways.
Menzel still has the talent but doesn’t work hard enough for today’s game, just like Jeff Garlett. It’s a shame in some respects.
Geelong is run by humpty dumpty morons. Hawthorn would of never won the 2013 grand final if those humpty dumpty morons werent there so you should be greatful.May as well have made Ablett retire.
Yes Menzel was weak defensively (as is Ablett) but at least Menzel is a goal scoring machine.

Lazy Geelong player too scared to tackle and chase gets delisted
Would have been the only time he chased all gameDid you see the play where he ran fifty metres and tackled two players in that play disposing them of the ball twice?

4 knee reconstructions.Remember when both the Menzel brothers were the next big things? What happened to that
Bloke on the radio likened it to Ian Baker-Finch, bit much but a small fwd who doesn’t convert isn’t very useful. I’d say he would have been on decent coin and the club would have a fair outlook on what his future footy career could be.
