So thats what... zero games at the MCG for us next year now?

Hawks at the 'G in Rd 17...it seemed odd that they wouldn't use us at home to fill half of their Etihad quota, but I was excited for an MCG match! Sat arvo the go then I'd say...in Rd 1 there's only the one Sat arvo game due to the Thursday night match and it's a Foxtel match

Game is no longer at the MCG.

Moved to Etihad because Collingwood told the AFL they want to unfurl the flag against Carlton the following week.

********* sound of phone ringing *************

Andrew Demetriou: Hello, Andrew speaking

Receptionist: Sorry to bother you Mr Demetrio but you have a call from Eddie.

Andrew Demetriou: Thank you Sarah, can you connect me to the 'Collingwood Phone'.

******** sound of Collingwood Club Song ********

Eddie McGuire: Hello Andrew, its Eddie here.

Andrew Demetriou: Hello Eddie, what can I do for you?

Eddie McGuire: I wanted to discuss the draw.

Andrew Demetriou: Your not happy with it?

Eddie McGuire: I want to move the Port game from the MCG to Etihad and unfurl our flag against Carlton instead.

Andrew Demetriou: But that would mean that Port would get no games at the MCG for the entire season unless they make the finals.

Eddie McGuire: We have already discussed who will make the finals and Port are not one of the teams we selected.

Andrew Demetriou: But are you sure you want to reduce the number of games you play at the MCG?

Eddie McGuire: We will still have 21 home and away games there plus finals so I dont think it will be a problem.

Andrew Demetriou: Well OK then, if thats what you want to do.

Eddie McGuire: Thank Andy, speak to you soon.

Receptionist: Sorry to bother again you Mr Demetrio but you have a call from Port Adelaide.

Andrew Demetriou: Just tell them I'm busy.

^ Gold!

and sadly, not to far removed from the truth...

We do play Hawthorn at the G later in the year though, according to that article.

Wow that is really pissweak.

Do they take into consideration where they think teams will finish when they put the draw together?

I.E. Have they only given us one game at the G because they think we are no chance?

How does it work?

Well, why give the large stadium to a low drawing side.

Of course, there would've been at least 80k there in round 1 but Port isn't good enough to unfurl the flag against - they want to rub it in to Carlton.

Can we move our Round 17 game against Collingwood to Alberton?

I'll bring the baseball bats.

This really annoys me.

Hands up all of you who have complained about Collingwood getting too many games at the MCG.

Thanks, but it doesn't really answer my question. Someone like REH or FF might know the answer.

Either way it is absolute bs because we are probably the most likely team of any to break into the top 8 next year, with anyone other than Choco in charge we would have been there this year.

It's a pretty big disadvantage.

Well, at least you're honest about moving the goal posts when it suits you.

Gold! Wouldn't surprise me if there's a black and white striped phone sitting on Andy D's desk.

Oh please, you wants us to pretend that the game being moved simply because you want to have your flag unfurling against another team is some sort of favour to us?

Yes, you play too many games at the MCG. DOn't act as though this game being moved was done to counter that. It was scheduled at the MCG by the AFL to begin with. The fact they listened to your request is laughable as well.

Well, at least you're honest about moving the goal posts when it suits you.

How about getting your facts right before you come sprouting shit on another board?

I have NEVER had an issue with how many games the Magpies play at the G and I have rarely if ever heard other SA fans complain about that. It is the other Melbourne clubs that have an issue with that, perhaps if you moved out of you Vic centric bubble once in a while you would realise this.

WE have a concern with Collingwood not travelling. They get a significant advantage over other Vic clubs and especially interstte clubs by virtually never having to set foot on a plane to play.

As if the Pies vs Power isn't a big FU to Port Adelaide courtesy of the VFL/AFL reminding us all who the VFL Magpies are.

Port Adelaide was competitive enough last time we faced the Pies. We weren't remotely close to full strength. Let's see if Primus Port Adelaide can make a go of it from the outset.

i would be happy with the fact you get us in round 1, it probably means Port's request to have Collingwood at AAMI has been approved which would be a decent money spinner depending on how you guys are going mid year. Also there is no form so you could catch us with our pants down. Also the game being at Etihad would suit you guys more then playing at the MCG although i know you would want MCG games under your belts if you make the finals.

Yes, you play too many games at the MCG.

last season we played 13 games at the MCG not counting finals. Im pretty sure you get 11 home games at your home ground and we do play a couple against other MCG tenants so thats not true. Maybe the fact we played all those games in a row in the 2nd half of last year was a little unfair but not the amount of games

Collingwood not travelling or Victorian clubs? Collingwood travelled 4 times in 2010 along with Carlton, Western Bulldogs and Melbourne. Essendon and Hawthorn travelled 3 times and Richmond, St Kilda, North and Geelong travelled 5 times. Geelong are the only Victorian side with a pure home ground advantage as no one else uses the ground.
Really Collingwood were no different to most other Vic sides. They will never travel more then 5 times in a season and this is countered by non-Victorian sides having like Port who get 12 home games and only 2 of them are against another tenant of AAMI where most Vic sides play a majority of games at their grounds against other Vic sides.
It does level out in the end.
The theory of "Collingwood dont travel" is majorly overused and is innacurate. Its more Victorian sides dont travel.

on a side issue i wish you guys all the best, my parents and brothers are all die hard Port supporters so it would be great to have you guys in the finals and finish ahead of the fruit tingles :thumbsu:

I tried to warn some of you it's the VFL administration at work.

How does it work?

Maybe ask Freo, who got NO games at the MCG in 2010 (until the finals) ;)
