Our best 22s are more or less the same. Redpath is in mine, we need him to be CHF so we 2 genuine talls forward. Dependant on form of course, if the bigs can't stand up then forward line will be more like last year. Not ideal.

FB: Morris Roberts Boyd
HB: Wood Hamling Murphy
C: Macrae Wallis JJ
HF: Stringer Redpath Crameri
FF: Dickson Boyd Dalhaus

R: Roughead Bontempelli Liberatore

I: Hunter Picken Suckling Stevens

Emer: Jong, Minson, Biggs, McLean

Good depth, almost all players can play multiple roles, the interchangeability of Stringer, Crameri and the Bont, while the bench provides class, run and experience. Suckers adds additional versatility and class. We know Dalhaus will spend lots of time on ball and we know Wally can drift forward and impact.

Boyd and big Red can provide ruck cover, rough can go back if needed. The worry is how lour KP players stand up. Inexperienced to say the least, but surrounded by class on all lines, they just need to do their bit.

A couple of boards on BigFooty are doing a vote to develop their "BF consensus best 22." Basically they're voting on every position on the ground, and the players with the highest number of votes fill that position. Is this something people would be interested in? Happy to get it going if there's interest.

Definitely interested. Would like to see the team this produces. I have a feeling there'll be a player who is 2nd or third in many spots who we end up leaving out, much to everyone's surprise. I guess the bench could cover that.

F: Stringer Boyd Dickson
R: Campbell Libba Bonti

EMG: Redpath Biggs Hrovat

Gone with Roughy has our second ruck to share duties with Campbell rather than Minson. Roughy can spend times forward and back, so have him named at CHF in my team but will be a Mr Fix it type player who will fill in where ever is needed per game. I like TC has our main ruck and giving him genuine support in Roughy rather than Boyd. He gets first crack at it but Minson still in picture if TC doesn't perform.

No Redpath in my team, I think Boyd with another preseason will be much better this year. Just prefer the forward with Boyd at the main tall with resting ruck as second then the mid size guys wreaking havoc. I like Redpath but I see him as depth at best.

Massive Stevens fan so he is straight into the best 22 when fit, also love McLean as a point of difference so he's in ahead of Hrovat, Jong, Dale, Daniel and Honeychurch. Had Biggs in my team pre-trade period but Suckling has pushed him out.

God, but trying to pick a 2016 B. 22 is ridiculously difficult.
So much might depend on the upcoming draft, and Libba and Clay's
recoveries.

Here are my hopes though.

Libba comes back to his best, and roving.
Wal as centreman [they are dynamite together].

We pick up an instant KPD in the draft.
Now I know I bang on about this, but I would love a backline that allows Fletch
to take over at CHF. For now we still need him down back.
While big Red has shown steady improvement, I must admit, I'm yet to be convinced
that he is our answer [ I sincerely hope he proves me wrong].

Tom C and Roughy come into the season fit and well. Tom is yet to achieve AFL
level of endurance to play out even 2, let alone 4 quarters in my opinion. He has the
talent, but certainly not the tank. Yet.

With the demise of the Sub rule, hopefully we can get back to 2 genuine ruckmen as
distinct from 1 + stopgaps, that fill in while pulling a KP player out of position, when a lack
of KPPs is already our major deficiency.
I would have the active ruckman stay out side of the F50 altogether. Let others, resting R,
or tall forwards take on ruck duties inside F50, and leave the main man only covering 2/3
of the ground, and thus able to play a kick behind the ball, or to fall back and strengthen
the defense when needed.

I am hoping last years draftees [ McClean, Dale and Webb in particular] really come on next
season, as I think they all have the potential to add another dimension completely to our
line up.

Wing positions shared between Hunter, Suckling, JJ and Macrae could be devastating with
Wal, Libba, Dal and the Bont in and under.

I really hope Dalrymple absolutely nails the upcoming draft, particularly by way of finding
us at least a couple of top line KPP's.

B: Morris ---- Roberts ----- Boyd
HB: Wood --- Hamling ---- Murphy
C: Macrae ---- Wallis --- Johannisen
HF: Hunter --- Stringer --- Stevens
F: Dickson ----- Boyd ---- Crameri
R: Minson -- Bontempelli -- Dahlhaus

INT: Libba, Picken, Roughead, Biggs

EMG: McLean, Daniel, Hrovat

After the trade period here are my changes.

Got Minson and Hrovat in the 25, they weren't in there as I thought they'd be traded. Especially Will.

I think Will deserved first ruck over Campbell to start the season at this stage. McLean/Biggs is tough to split for me.

I'm not going to even try.

You could make a case for about 14 different players to fit into that last 6 slots, and not because they're all on the same level of mediocrity, but because they've all shown they can play very well in the AFL. We were talking at the start of this year about having depth and it turned out to be Bigfooty talk. This time around we actually do have depth.
I'm of the same opinion, and I think some of the younger leaner guys getting a decent preseason into them will make team selection even more difficult. On that, and a lot of people talking about a key defender, what does anyone think about boyd or big red mixing it up in the backline. I think Minson will be back as our front line ruckman, he won't want to miss out on whats developing at the club after the last few years. He just has to get more consistency into his game.

There's a few with Picken on the bench!

I hope it's a sign of our depth and not underestimating him!
Picken would probably be the one to take a bit less of a role with Libba coming back? Him and Dahl.

Might see him play all over the field this year.

What I like about our 2016 side is there's going to be 20+ players fighting for those last 10-12 spots weekly, Good depth will drive us forward this year, go dogs! :)

FB: Boyd, Roberts, Morris
HB: Wood, Hamling, Murphy
C: Macrae, Liberatore, Johannisen
HF: Crameri, Redpath, Dickson
FF: Dahlhaus, Boyd, Stringer
R: Minson, Wallis, Bontempelli
Bench: Picken, Roughead, Hunter, Stevens

Emer/Stiff: Hrovat, Suckling, Honneychurch

FB: Boyd, Roberts, Morris
HB: Wood, Roughead, Murphy
C: Macrae, Wallis, Johannisen
HF: Crameri, Redpath, Dickson
FF: Dahlhaus, Boyd, Stringer
R: Minson, Liberatore, Bontempelli
Bench: Picken, Hamling, Hunter, Suckling

It's tough task. I'd like to get Stevens in. Maybe for Redpath. So it would be:

FB: Boyd, Roberts, Morris
HB: Wood, Roughead, Murphy
C: Macrae, Wallis, Johannisen
HF: Hunter, Crameri, Dickson
FF: Dahlhaus, Boyd, Stringer
R: Minson, Liberatore, Bontempelli
Bench: Picken, Hamling, Stevens, Suckling

I like Roughead at CHB, but Hamling can cover most backs.

Plenty of depth.

KM

Good luck trying to get a best 22 out of list. Jeebus we've got depth.

I've gone with this:

Morris - Roughead - Wood
Murphy - Roberts - Boyd
Hunter - Liberatore - Macrae
Crameri - Stringer - Suckling
Dahlhaus - Boyd - Dickson

Minson - Bontempelli - Wallis
Johannessen - Daniel - Picken - Stevens

Unlucky: McLean, Adams, Collins, Hamling, Redpath, Dale, Biggs, Cordy, Webb, Jong, Hrovat

How do we, with natural improvement, not win the flag ;)

I reckon Bailey Dale will be in the team round one. Would have him at hf over McLean.

Our 23 (and under) team ...

JJ - Collins - Hamling
Dunkley - Roberts - Webb
Hunter - Wallis - Macrae
Dahlhaus - Adams - McLean
Stringer - Boyd - Daniel

Campbell (24 but we need a Ruck) - Bontempelli - Liberatore

Bench: Smith (C), Dale, Cordy, Jong, Hrovat, Prudden, Honeychurch, Williams, Smith (R)

Given the guys in bold are already best 22 (according to BF) ... future looks good!

Let's say you have to stick hard to the rules and Campbell isn't allowed - who rucks? Boyd? Roberts?
Hoping this problem is solved tomorrow.

Re-done mine with draftees in mind:

FB: Wood - Collins - Morris

HB: Murphy - Adams - M Boyd

C: Dahlhaus - Macrae - Johannisen

HF: Suckling - Crameri - Wallis

FF: Stringer - T Boyd - Hunter

R: Roughead - Bontempelli - Liberatore

Int: Stevens, Dickson, Picken, Biggs

(Emg: McLean, Roberts, Dunkley)

I truly do feel that Collins and Adams can walk into the side round 1. They are the type of big bodies we need down back while Hamling and Roberts bulk up. Collins is an exceptionally talented stopper, and can lock down any massive forward on his day. Adams is the perfect CHB for us. Tall and strong, with terrific athleticism for a big man and great hands in the air. With Morris as support defensively, Adams can play his natural marking and attacking game and, along with Wood, could become unstoppable with their intercept-marking prowess. Using the multitude of attacking rebounders we have, a smallish defence could be the way to go, with Collins locking down the no. 1 forward, Morris playing a solely defensive role and letting the rest create an impenetrable wall at half-back, intercepting and locking down crumbers. Other than that, not much changes from my original.

I can't help feeling Wal is still undervalued on BF. For mine he is a lock in the middle. Bont RR'ing, and hopefully
a fit and healthy Libba roving.
Our options on the wings are bewildering, especially if last years draftees come on quickly.

Was chatting to a bud in the afl media today about Toby McLean. I said if I could only keep one of him and Macrae, I'd take Mclean. He couldn't believe it.

This guy will shock the footy public next year IMO. I'm all in for him as the rising star.
Tough call and I don't think I could go past Macrae considering he's already got the runs on the board but I agree with ya, McLean will be an absolute jet, definitely have to load up on him for the rising star.
