First season is slow and a slog then it picks up and becomes a great scifi show.

Like I said above feels like Season 1 of Breaking Bad
Finished Season 1 and onto half way through Ep 1 of S02 and pace has picked up even in those 30 minutes

Comparing something to season one of Breaking Bad means you ended up watching the whole thing in one go and somehow it's 4 o'clock in the morning

I've been rewatching this recently. It's a great show. One of the best.
Thought it was okay but gosh, the main actor is more wooden than Keanu Reeves ever was.
It's no Babylon 5.

I agree, but the supporting cast (Amos, Chrisjen etc) are compelling, the concept is great, and the 'harder' nature of the sci fi in this one raises The Expanse to another level compared to its peers imo.

I never found Steven Strait "wooden" at all. 
He played the role of James Holden pitch-perfect IMHO. But each to their own, I guess.

S3 on Rottentomatoes is at 100% and 97% by the way...
I am overseas atm and trying to watch on iPhone. Whilst the sound is brilliant I am losing a lot visually. Tossing up whether to wait and watch on the big screen.

haha … or good excuse for a rewatch when you get back. But yes you would be losing a lot. The visuals are pretty damned great esp scenes on Eros let alone space battles.
One thing I have been thinking about is the death toll of interesting characters is very high. Few die easy deaths. It is not glam’d up. The horror of being spaced or stroking out is well conveyed.

when Holden rejoined with Miller. It felt forced to bring Miller back and tbh it waa disappointing to have him written out.

Aah my favourite character in the whole show is now getting more scenes by Series 3.
Drummer has some cracking lines and interesting character development. I really enjoyed the interplay between Drummer and Ashford (thought Strathearn ,sp?, did a great job)

Things is, people say it starts slow, and then picks up. But I’ve heard so many people trash the final season or two. Soooo that actually doesn’t leave much time for it to be great?
