what i like is the way they structure up. imo we have it over them in the midfield but they have better balance between sml/med and talls across the ground.
they dont play many sml players in fact neade is the only one i can think of their mids and flankers are in the main big bodied , tall or both. they are structuring up more and more like geelong every day.
of all the teams in contention we have the worst set up in talls its of real concern.
its going to be real interesting when we come up against the likes of sydney hawthorn and to a lesser degree thru injuries freo.
just for the sake of debate i still want to see us in time down back go
b/ morris - chaplin - grimes
hb/ mcintosh - rance - batchelor/houli.
that my friend is the way the game has gone.

I'm not sure about that, Westhoff is not bad, but he's inconsistent. Their backline isn't amazing, guys like Carlisle, Jonas and Hombsch. I don't think their KPP situation is that different to Richmond's, after all, how many sides have a two time coleman medalist?

Their midfield is where they've made massive improvements through the development of guys like Wines, Wingard, Boak, Hartlett et al. But let's not get carried away, this is a side which lost comprehensively to Richmond and who lost to Footscray in a low scrap. They are, alongside a number of other clubs a side which undeniably improving, but they have flaws. I do think that they're in a battle for the top eight considering they have to play Essendon away, Hawthorn, Geelong away, Fremantle away and Adelaide. How many wins will come from that? If they can win a few there they will probably make the eight given they're probably favourites in the other four matches.

I was walking past my local TAB and saw that in the window. I had to stop and admire it awhile.

This is my best guess at the moment:

1. Hawthorn
2. Fremantle
3. Sydney
4. Geelong
5. Richmond
6. Collingwood
7. Carlton
8. Adelaide
9. Port
10. West Coast

I think the top 7 are locked in, but 8th is really up for grabs, with Port and the Crows fighting for it. It looks like there are going to be some good match ups of the big Victorian clubs.

How in God's name could anybody rate us below Adelaide?

Here's a list of the ladder positions of teams Adelaide have beaten this year:

12th
13th
14th
15th
16th
18th

Richmond fans hope that Port falls out because if they don't it will mean they have to accept what everyone else already knows - that they pissed the last few years up the wall.

Personally I'd like to see Carlton and Port both squeeze in (assuming we also finish in the 8).

When was the last prelim you made, in fact, when was the last final?

You also lost five in a row just a few weeks ago! I wouldn't be talking your team up at all or do you forget you are the last team that lost to GWS?

By that logic - the logic of 'when was the last prelim we made, or final' - I guess Richmond might as well plan September holidays.

And we've beaten last year's premiers and 4 of last year's top 5.

Do you have anything of substance to add, or are you just going to yammer on about past results which are irrelevant to 2013?

At the start of the year, 12-13 teams were meant to fit into the top 8. No one knew which teams would make it. Now, there are only 7 teams that will clearly make it and probably deserve to make the finals. West Coast would be my guess to finish 8th.

So us beating last year's premiers (and the other g/finalist, Hawthorn, by 10 goals) in the year they won their premiership is irrelevant but your beating them in this year isn't? Their status as Premiers dates from 2012 - that would be the year we beat them.
BTW, our record against the Swans over the least three years is 3 wins and one loss (including 2010 when we were at the beginning of our rebuild). The one loss (in Sydney) was by 10 points. We are yet to play them this year.

Yeah you beat the Swans at home with several of their key players out, Goodes going down in the 4th quarter and very nice help from the umpires. Do you also forget the Swans come off the bye and in the last three years only a third of teams win coming off the bye?

How you like them apples for nutritional substance? Don't be surprised if you get thrashed by Essendon this week.

Several? Who, Jetta and Mumford? Never mind that Port were missing their captain, their #1 ruckman and a B&F winning key defender, of course

You're the first person I've seen mention anything about the umpires in that match.

You seem very determined to downplay Port's improvement. Worried about the result in a couple of weeks, by any chance?

Nah, there were more, too many to list and can't be bothered. I'm confident a Swans reporter will reminds us.

Hmm.

Nope. I'm very determined to point out certain things. I could be wrong in regards to Port, so will see.

Port have really surprised me this year with their improvement, i didn't think they had the cattle. Their young midfield has been a revelation. Whether they squeeze in to the finals this year or not its clear that like us they are on the rise.

In the end if you are smiling more often than you are frowning after rounds then your team is giving you good value. I envy Collingwood supporters over the very long term that regardless of premierships they do get to smile more often than the rest of us.

Hey ya'all would you keep non Richmond comment for your own club boards. For the rest of the season the main board will basically be an add on to the Richmond board and we don't want to have to wade through stuff about other clubs to get to the Tiger related posts. I'm sure you see the logic. Thanks Ya'all.

Schulzenfest was just pointing out the absolute stupidity of Roby's logic, it had nothing to do with Richmond.

Several? Who, Jetta and Mumford?

From the Premiership side,

Alex Johnson (Inj\Season), Rhyce Shaw (Inj), Marty Mattner (Inj\Retired), Sam Reid (Inj), Shane Mumford (Inj), Lewis Roberts-Thomson (Inj), Lewis Jetta (Inj)
+ Goodes saubbed off with his knee injury.

The following week add to that list Goodes (Inj\Surgery), Mitch morton (Inj)

So now missing 9/22 at the moment and long term issues around the majority of that list.
