The Magpie's Nest something something Competition
Cheesy tagline in Georgia font

What is the something something Competition?

Who can enter?
Anyone except Carlton supporters.

Just kidding, everyone is welcome to enter!

Why should I enter?

When does the competition start and end?
TBD

How do I enter?

I'll get onto that asap Taz, but in the meantime, can anyone tell me how to;

1. Lose 5 kilo (of fat) in 3 weeks

3. Target specific areas to lose fat - i.e my gut:)

I'd like to hit 90kg before my B'day on the 26th, and I'd love that to come off my waist, I'm still losing weight, but my pant size has stabilized:(

I hit the Gym at least 3 times a week, spend anything from 30 min to 1hr on the treadmill, before doing a bit of strength work (on machines, no free weights) and then a cool down back on the treadie. My diet is crap, way too many carbs not enough fibre or protein, but I'm going to be hard on that for the next few weeks.

Smokey

P.S. I know I've left out #2, but I figured I'd leave room for something something internet - Profit!:)

My suggestion is:

a. eat proteins and green vegetables only (chicken, fish, meat, eggs)
b. eat less
c. good fats like olive oil, butter ok
d. no stress
e. drink water NOT diet drinks

small amounts of food, (more often if you're hungry) - nibble on some chicken, or avocado, or a few almonds, smoked salmon

Avoid eating carbs with protein and fats.

others might not agree but I know this works, and it's healthy
and the walking is good

Good luck! :rainbow:

A client emailed me about skinnyme tea this morning, so i linked him this news report on the horrors caused by this particular tea : http://www.smh.com.au/national/heal...r-health-horrors-reported-20130629-2p3v9.html. Then I tell him there is zero scientific evidence to support the tea or the idea of "cleansing", and it is borderline on self-harm from a physiological point of new.

So he replies "thanks for your opinion, i will examine it further and make a decision soon".

Are.You.Kidding.Me? What is left to examine?

The best part is he has already lost 10+ kilograms by listening to me! It makes no sense in my head!

99% of people don't give a damn about logic, but no one can resist the next big miracle fad that will become completely irrelevant in a year.

This world ... lol

The Health Report on ABC Radio this week was excellent. (I heard it this morning)

Suggest you all listen on the website.

Topics were Obesity, and a doctor's own experience of 'traditional treatment' of diabetes.

Society/medicine is so bogged down sometimes in there being only one way to treat things.

Down to 91.2 kg, 2 nights to go...I could go all Warnie and hit the laxettes and diuretics, but I'll keep on soldiering on in the old fashioned way:)

so does this mean it's your birthday tomorrow?

Yep, so it's beer o'clock right about now:) - Did 45 mins on the treadmill and upper body weights this afternoon, so I need to rehydrate.

don't undo ALL the good work :)

and happy birthday for tomorrow :rainbow::hearts:

Happy Birthday Smokeyr67

Hope you're feeling slimmer and trimmer and healthier, and that you have a terrific day

all the best :rainbow:
Thanks Maggie, I'm still a bit fuzzy from the beers, but weighed 92.2 this morning, and only 27.9% fat:)

My day will involve slothing around the house, playing with my new MTB, then a little bit of washing and ironing:) Maybe a visit to the gym for some lower body work, or a yoga class.

How do you calculate body fat percentage?

How do you calculate body fat percentage?

There are scales out there that not only measure your weight but how much of it is fat, muscle and water (I think).

Or at least, how much those things weight. And then it's just a simple division.

Cool. I know my scales let you input a height, never actually knew what the percentage value it calculated meant though. How on earth would it be able to differentiate muscle mass vs fat?

Either way, I'll weigh myself tonight and keep informed. Be nice to have a bit of a progress tracker. ;)

What sort of a regime are you running for yourself?

basically its 40mins cardio 1st thing in he morning and gym on my lunch breaks. I do the cardio 6 days a week and the gym 5 times. for cardio i go cycling.
i have a strict diet as well, no alcohol or soft drink. 1 coffee a day and drink 3L of water or more a day.
the diet is high protein and no carbs after 6pm.

Have any good low/no carb recipes? Or are you keeping it pretty simple? Like protein (chicken/fish) and veges?

yeah its pretty simple. i weigh everything though. so yeah i will have 200g of fish/tuna/chicken breast/kangaroo with green veg or salad, 4 egg white and 1 egg with yolk on toast or 80g oats with protein powder and small tub of yogurt. sounds boring but it tastes great.

It's amazing how great some simple recipes can be. I often do a salad for lunch. It's just some mesculin, sliced red onion, sliced capsicum and diced tomato. You add in a boiled egg, sliced Turkey and a small amount of a nice dressing. That's pretty healthy, keeps you full and is damn tasty. Plus you feel great after eating it.

I'm guessing your off all the nice treats/junk too?
