Hope he retires , should be remembered for the star he was
I think his injuries will be acknowledged and he'll be remembered as the player he was, I was always waiting for him to start taking the field for St Kilda so I could watch the rest of his career from afar. It's a real shame it doesn't look like he'll get to play out his career, and will almost certainly be a shadow of his former self.

To think, he was drafted in 2008, enjoyed a great career from ~2012 to 2016, and has had the second part of his career ruined. Such a shame, especially on a personal level.

I feel bad for Hanners, if the umps hadn't turned a blind eye to the several slides throughout the match before that point Wood probably wouldn't have been so eager to cannon into Hanners leg. That Absolutely ruined Hanners career, was an absolute gun to that point in his career and can now barely get onto the field.
Thanks to our friends at St K, he's at least earnt the money that a talent like he deserved.

Coda - I hope that doesn't sound rude or harsh, certainly wasn't meant to be.

That's the one positive, he managed to win himself a good contract. However, the money hanners gave back to st kilda after the contract renegotiation should be reimbursed by the afl for their woeful umpiring during that game (which to me resulted in the slide by wood). That's the least they could do given the impact it's had on hanners career.

Luke Ablett is hilarious

DELISTED Swan Malachy Carruthers has put himself back on the radar of AFL clubs ahead of the mid-season rookie draft, following an eye-catching start to the season.

The 19-year-old returned to Sturt after Sydney chose not to extend his initial one-year contract beyond last October.

AFL.com.au understands two clubs have expressed interest in the wingman, who produced his best performance yet at SANFL level on the weekend, collecting 28 disposals and nine marks against Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval on Sunday.

Adelaide included Carruthers on its list of 20 top-up players in March in the event the Crows are wiped out by COVID-19 and need to use players from the SANFL.

I can't say what my reaction would be if I copped an elbow to the ol' fern gully unexpectedly, because I'm not in a prison yard. I reckon there's a fairly good chance I'd go to ground on reflex. Today I stubbed my toe on the corner of my bed and instinctively screamed "FUUUUU" before realising it actually didn't really hurt.

What I can say is that Clayton Oliver is tough as. Head over the ball with no regard for his safety tough, not throwing elbows around off play in a hissy fit tough.
